Continuing with the DET issue, i was wondering could the very free flowing HKS mushroom filter cause excess air flow leading to lean fueling at higher rpm's ??

i doubt it, just the filter by itself won't provide more air than the MAF can measure or the stock injectors can provide. running at 12psi shouldn't be a problem.

Its not going to be the chip either. Providing your running Higher octane fuel in it, then its getting detonation becuase something else is'nt right. Have your timing and Fuel pressure checked.

I had detting on a 300 some years ago, turned out to be the exhaust silencers were partly blocked by the sound deadening from inside the silencers.

 

The car didnt sound any different either, but when I cleaned the stuff out it was fine. just an idea

What base timing are you running now ?

 

By all means try another chip, but if your suffereing with detonation with that chip and others aren't then that points at another cause.

Off top of my head i retarded to 14, but it was the summmer, and my brains gone!, Also changed plugs for longer/colder ones, new boost pipes, ditched prvr (if thats correct) system, conzult is clean and running decent fuel. That meant that it went from detting at 9-10psi to 12 psi. Still can't get the boost up to 14 though without issues??
