Hello all, I noticed that my heater was getting a bit cold when it should be warm the other day and had to top radiator up but dident think much of it so I went out last night parked up, got out and noticed a small trail of water, looked under the zed and noticed a water leak from driver side? There is a red breather pipe hanging down but the leak is next to it? Im hoping its not the water pump? this was replaced 5000miles ago with the full service but I asked my mate to fit a genuine one but he dident! if anyones had a similar leaks in this place any advice would be great??? Iv got very little time to sort it today my 18month daughters ill so cant do alot till she sleeps in the next hour!

Its a turbo but the under tray is on so water could run from the centre???

could well be....take the tray off for the moment should help with the fault finding

will do! there aint alot of pressure in the water pipes but when I give it a few hard revs it goes from drips to a mild pour!!! would a water pump do that??

could be the top hose...it splits (well mine did) or the rad neck where the pipe joins up perishes as people often overtighten the clamps...run your finger under the top hose see if its wet / dripping

yes if the gasket is blown...:( not a quick job to fix afraid...more than 1 hour as the liquid gasket needs to set

I had same/similar problem, top two water pipes going into front of plenum had perished. as i poured water into the rad, 5 secs later I could see it running down the front of the cam-end cover and past the bottom crank pulley.

Just been out to have a look and it was one top hose! just needed tightening! where you push hose on to rad the rad has crumbled slightly and the pipe slid past that part so hopefully it should hold for a while??

Cheers for the help im happy now!!! best get back to putting up outdoor xmas decs!! if I dont the kids will punish me!!

glad you sussed it....yeah its a common prob the rad neck...needs a new rad bud...put that on your xmas pressie list :D

Just for future refernece as well.

Most water leaks will come from the drivers side when looking under the car.

The matrix pipework even though it's pretty central located, if you get a leak there it will be in such a position that it will need to drip off the transmission before hitting the floor. where they are slightly off center as well it will always drip or gush in my case to the drivers side (unless obviously you are in an American import ;) )
