just been reading the 1995 service manual , it says when you pull on the drivers door handle the door lock lights up for 7 seconds. well mine doesn't :(

 

does anyone have this feature?

when i pull on the drivers handle the door opens for approximately 7 seconds (average time taken for to get in) then i close it...

 

does that count?

1. walk up to car

2. pretend to open car door (fail as car still locked)

3. light bulb comes on to show you where to stick the key

4. 7 seconds later it goes out

If you look close at the bit around the actual barrel you can tell its clear plastic, there is bulb holder built into it and a bracket for a micro switch on the handle, BUT despite all zeds having these in 10 years of been around them I have not seen one with it fitted up and working, I guess it would be easy to do, but with most having the doors unlocked by after market alarm systems there is little point.

is it deffo a lamp and not a heater element? maybe a circuit for you to defrost the lock during the chilly mornings?

Yes thats right! many owners do not know the ignition barrel lights up when lights are on because the bulb has gone or just have not noticed, and on the later models it lights up when you open the door.

hmmmmm, i went to change the ignition barrel bulb to a led in my 95 vert, expecting it to be door operated and found no bulb, no bulb holder, no wiring loom...... :(

bump, i need more info, does a series one have this?
