Hopefully getting a career change which would require me to drive from Chelmsford to Clacton Everyday. I was just going to get a 1.1 run around but my old man reckons i am better getting a 1.4 or 1.6 because the little engine will work harder to do 70MPH on the A roads and probably burn off more fuel. How true or untrue is this? also could anyone recommened a good runaround that is reliable? I was looking at another BMW as i saw a 1995 Compact 1.6i for £700 with Full Service History and MOT. any ideas what else would also be a reliable runaround for A roads? :scooter:

Having had zed off road for a while i have recently got hold of a manual Gearbox Conversion kit and the tools to do the job! i think ive been away for too long and need to start posting again :sorcerer: Not that i or many others have been missed but its time to start haunting the forums again :2guns: So here goes with a post to say..................... im back. I will start another post soon with the pictures updated as i carry out the job of making the car a "manwell" If any body wants a autobox for parts or to repair i will pretty much give it away although postage would help if you are not picking it up. 3. Well the poor old metro gti bit the dust recently (headgasket failure) so i had been busy popping a low mileage replacement engine in rather than faffing around with changing headgaskets and cambelts. It'll be back on the road for next week. In the meantime i bumped into an old friend and was telling him how i was struggling a bit, i'm 6'5" and the metro was never bought as a long distance car and i'm putting 400+ miles a week on it. He said he'd got his old rover tomcat coupe (1.6) sitting on his driveway doing nothing if i wanted it for £100? Needless to say it needs a little work (cambelt/waterpump/exhaust gasket/interior needs a good clean) but apart f…

Anyways, I get a message today, reading: "This item aswell as others were being stored in a shared garage. Upon reciving payment i went to collect the item to post aswell as others, however they seem to have been taken or moved without my approval. As a result i have issued a refund. I am very sorry for this inconvenience. Should they t…

does anybody have one of these, and are they any good. my main question is do they hold signal well, i have a DAB radio at home and if you move it from one place to another in the house it picks up certain stations and looses others depending on where it is. is this going to be the same in the car, and do they work of the standard arial or do you need a new one putting into the car somewhere. cheers and happy new year

http://transmission.blogs.topgear.com/2009/12/20/series-14-where-were-at/ Andy Wilman has hinted that TG has run it's course and the spark has gone from the series. Now I am the biggest TG fan around and at the moment it is the ONLY TV programme I watch on a regular basis (Albeit the usual short run) However I do agree with some of his comments. The presenters do seem to have turned into a cartoon character of themselves and the same jokes are being touted each week. This may be car nut sacrilege but i think it's time to call it a day on the current format of TG. I don't want it to turn into something that was once good but is now just awful. (It s…

Hows it going, happy xmas to everyone :) Hows the world of Zeds shaping up these days? I haven't seen on in months around here, which is surprising as there were a lot of members in the area and seeing a Z around was a normal event. Hope everyone is keeping well and the committee are treating you well :D:D
