as above, i'm looking at getting a 300zx, i had a RX7 but just could not afford the fuel bills, now i got a bm 328i coupe, but it's boring! so i'm now looking at a 300zx.. what's the average mpg and cost of running these things? are there things to look out for? what's reliable what's not.. pro's con's.. what kinda power can be achieved cheaply etc.. etc.. all help VERY much appreciated. I noticed a few of you are from the North East!!! Can anyone recommend a decent garage or mechanic in the Newcastle area. Looking to get new (possibly uprated) clutch and brakes done, as well a general service and health check. Preferably this week!! Also if anyone can recommend which clutch and brake parts to use, plus pros, cons and costs would be much appreciated!! Thanks in advance! p.s. I'm new to the zed arena and have only had the car a few weeks. Its a 95 TT import with chip and exhaust upgrade, but look forward to adding to that over the next few months!!

Diagnosed inlet valves as fault. After Speaking to Peter and Bob (both from SE) at Billing, they said the job could be done in two weeks from drop off. So I booked her in for 13th September 2003. I was very sceptical as I had heard nightmare storied about the time they took to do the work. The rule was if they say two weeks it’s going to take 2 months. Anyway the car went in on the 13th Sept for new heads which would mean skimming the heads and reseating the zorst and inlet valves. Now there is one typ of car I hate, Mercs, cant bloody stand them, there for old farts and they all look shite, even the new SLK's. I got beat this morning by a CL600! Man, this thing went like a rocket so when I got to work all pi55ed off, I went into the merc site and this thing is a, wait for it (fook me!) Take a look at the attch pic, shows a repair just completed on a nasty rear quarter damage, body shops are amazing. Riverside bodyshop who done this repair do all our paint work, and I cannot reccomend them enough. Jeff @Zedworld

I think it is the best mod I have put on my car. Usually I had to make an effort to make it come on in the dry, wet was easier but still needed some doing. Now that my car is chipped and the boost increased its working over time. Driving to and from Manchester in the rain down the East Lancs, I thought I would have a little fun on the many traffic lights. Having the Traction Control set to wet, I pulled from the lights quite fast with the accelerator about half way down, 1st gear was impossible so I changed to 2nd very soon and pressed the accelerator about half way again. The revs quickly went up and then about 4000rpm when the turbos are going fully, the wheel…
