A young family moved into a house next door to vacant building plot. One day a gang of building workers turned up to start building a house on the empty plot. The young familys 5-year old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and started talking with the workers. She hung around and eventually the builders, all with hearts of gold, more or less adopted the little girl as a sort of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had tea and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important. They even gave her very own hard hat and gloves. At the …

The company I work for was taken over recently by a right bunch! They wanted me to do all sorts of things which I consider unethical (such as taking on a guy on a full time basis, getting him to work his ass off for 6 months re-painting the site (to save money on proper decorators) and then knock him back to part time when he's done it or get rid of him. The new employer wants me to start next week, so I only gave 1 instead of 4 weeks notice, however I did offer to help the new manager o…

I have just been round to the local post office with my girlfriend. The post office is part of a parade of shops, with a small line of parking spaces (maybe 20 or 30). There were several cars parked there including an old Maestro. 4 Youths, none of them old enough to drive, were standing around the car, trying the door handles and they eventually managed to get into the passenger side. We went straight back to the post office, and called the police (the one time neither of us had our mobiles on us!). The youths are obviously from the local council estate, dressed up like goons in their sports wear, one of the kids was black and dressed like 50 pence, more labe…

Everyone must have a favourite stretch of road they love to have a blast on. Mine has always been the on the A38 between Plymouth and Trerulefoot in Cornwall for those of you who know it. Think I've found a new favourite now though. Just spent the last week driving round the Rocky mountains and the Icefield parkway is just breathtaking! 400km of amazing roads! Pictures speak for themselves! Andy
