Hi folks, I've been quietly lurking while gradually converting my garage in preparation for getting the car restoration started however I have now hit a snag that changes everything. I've always wanted one of these and have been really looking forward to spending a year or two slowly restoring it ( im.not a rich man so would have to be a slow build as and when I could afford). My wife lost her job a few months back due to the company she worked for shutting down, and has found another job after a long time if looking and going for interviews. The hours are long and she doesn't get to see the kids much, she hates the place and is so down all the time since she started there. We've had a long chat and she's really missing out on the time she uses to have with our little ones when she worked part time, I hate to see her so unhappy so we have decided for the good of us and the kids she is going to go back to a part time job again. Without the extra money things are going to be very tight around here and I'm not going to have the money to work on this car, as much as it saddens me giving up on the dream (I know I'll not find another one any time soon) I'm going to have to let it go before I've even lifted a finger on it. Now I know what I paid for it, but I now need every penny I can get, yes it has a somewhat unknown history regarding the cat c but do you guys think I would be taking the piss if I put it up for £3k? Here's a run down of what I know so far and what I've had a chance to suss out from having it here. 1994 300zx twin turbo UK model Manual gearbox and t top in white. 67000 miles, full service history and all old mots. Cobra alarm and tracker, electric black leather interior. I purchased this earlier in the year with hopes to fully restore it however my circumstances have changed and I havnt even started any work. About the car, it was previously a cat C , the previous owner was unaware of This, the only repairs I can find so far are both bumpers have been replaced along with the boot lid, I can see no evidence of any structural damage. The car had been dry stored for 4 years prior to me purchasing it, And between the previous owner and his brother they had owned it for the last 17 years with only 1 owner prior to that. The car does have rust in the usual areas, sills and in front of rear arches. Drivers side is quite bad, the previous owner was part way through changing injectors and the plenum is off , he supplied new sealed Nissan injectors along with many spare parts. I have not had it running. Nice alloys that could do with a refurb, uprated front mount intercooler and a very large and expensive AP racing 6 pot front big brake set up. The interior is in good shape for it's age with only some rubbage on the drivers seat bolster. T tops seal well and don't leak, has the covers for them in the boot, paintwork definitely needs a polish up and minor rust bobbles in places but very minor. Has an aftermarket sterio and a discrete custom built base box and amplifier in the boot that are hidden under the carpet and still has the spare wheel in there. Lots of spare parts included. And lots of paperwork, bills ect including every mot from new. Previous owner had a new clutch fitted 4 years ago and it's done less than 1000 miles since then. Private plate just been valued at £450 would be included with the sale . So what do you all think? Sorry to jump on this thread but to save starting a new one, can anyone offer advice on cleaning the inside of the plenum? Mines been off for over 2 years and I'm sure stuff will have found it's way in there

Unless the 1993-06 means June of course

I must be a dim wit, found my vin, can't for the life of me find the build date tho

Hi Andrew. Can you point me in the direction of any part number catalogues? I notice you always seem to know. When i had bmw's I used a website called real oem which had full pdf schematics of the entire car and parts with the relevant part numbers. Anything like that for these 300's?

Thanks Richie, I'm sure I'll be in touch when it comes to the engine! I'm pretty sure mine is a colour called 'super white Can't see any mettalic in it. Does anyone know if this is a solid 2pac colour or is it a base coat with lacquer on top?

Ah and while I'm at it. Scouring the internet for a set of good quality yet affordable axle stands with pads. Not one for Halfords own brand stuff. Any recommendations of where to look?

The engine is what's worrying me the most. As has been said by others the cars been sat for 4 years or so with the plenum off, who knows what's seized. Habit looked into it yet but a full 're build is possibly on the cards and that's a worry financially

That is the plan, and I'm definitely not a quitter. Just a shame I can't throw money at it

Thanks, it's gonna be a slow one as I don't have deep pockets so will be doing as much as I can myself, luckily have close friends that are painters and mechanics although I don't like to freeload. Have i bitten off more than I can chew? Probably. But I'm sure I'll have fun over the next year or two. And yes this is the friendliest forum I've been on with some very helpful members

That build has just blown my mind. Such attention to detail, and assuming very very deep pockets. Very handy thread for knowledge. Next week I start on getting the garage ready then I will get things moving

I must admit I always wanted a black one. However this will stay white, but it will become a pearl white

I know I've said it but I'm so happy to have this car. Just had the neighbours 16 year old come over and ask if that a fairlady!

I'm guessing it's not going to be easy to return it to its stock position

Thanks Gaz it's a good improvement although the paints very rough to the touch, nothing a wetsand and machine polish won't cure tho. It's given me a good chance to look over everything I can see without climbing underneath and have taken some pictures with a good camera so I can start a build thread. It's definitely been painted front and rear. Had a look online at theses AP 6 pots, seem very expensive!

A quick wash and decrease today. I will start a build thread soon for anyone that wants to follow my progress. Luke

Hi mate , thanks. Not sure what direction I will be going in ? I may modernize the look slightly, different bumpers ect. First thing is to get it apart tho.

So tomorrow I plan to give the car a really good clean , inside and out while giving it a close inspection for what needs sorting on the exterior. The paint looks ok but you can tell it's been sat in a workshop for years! Rust wise so far, the bad bit on the o/s rear sill just in front of the wheel, I've seen patch kits for sale in the UK along with an enforcement panel for behind, pretty sure I will need both! Both centre sills have patches forming at both ends , the front bumper has definitely been repaired a long time ago so potentially front ended. Rust in the engine bay is focused at the same place on both sides right where there is a join between panels. Havnt had a good look underneath yet but from what I can see so far it's not great but also not terrible. Interior is good for age, plenum is off so I need to go through all the bits to see what's there and what's not. Should be going into the garage next week to begin taking it apart. Is there any way I can get the electrics on with the plenum off and injectors out? I'd like to get the roof off and windows down when I get it in the garage

Ah thanks gaz, they have some odd led strips around them instead that will be coming straight off. And the wheels, weirdly 35 profile tyres on rear and 40 profile on fronts
