  1. Isnt there a place on/around woodland industrial estate called afs or something like that, specialise in japs etc? I know they do mazda rx7's and the like...
  2. I work about 2 miles form home & gotta be honest, i just don't bother takin the zed unless its pissin it down. return bus fare £1.50.... take the zed... petrol, wear & tear, parking etc, just aint worth it... mines for weekend pleasure only. "We gotta full tank of gas, half a pack of smokes, its dark & we're wearin shades..." :hyper:
  3. Prety f*ckin stupid IMHO ;-)
  4. Had guessed it might be this... had it on other cars... is this a major job? (Probably a silly question... its a Z  ) If i've got the head etc has gotta come off then might as well do cambelts etc at same time? Cheers for help guys... :duffer:
  5. Hi there, not sure if I have a problem or not. From cold, I always let the engine warm up before I boot it. The first 10 minutes or so after the engine's warmed up if the boost kicks in theres a small haze of greyish smoke in the exhaust gases... once i've been driving for over 10 mins or so & its done this a couple of times it stops. I assume a litle oil is leaking past oil seals overnight & gets burnt off in this initial smoking, which doesnt then happen again til its been stood. Or is there something worse going on? For information, the oil is semi-synthetic with grade exactly as reccomended in the handbook. Any ideas would be great thanks... :duffer:
  6. There's a t shaped pipe comes off the engine, somewhere near the back left as you look at the engine. What I did is disconnect the bit that goes to the clutch boost & block off the T. What happens is that your clutch just feels a bit heavier but it stops it slipping & means that you arent losing vacuum in the brake system, which is what happened to me! (The other part of that "T" mentioned earlier goes to brake assist). You can replace the diagpraghm but have been told its a £200 plus job to do & all it does is make the clutch lighter...
  7. Will try & find you a pic mate... at the back of the engine bay theres a t pipe coming off the engine, two vacuum pipes come off it... one to brake boost & one to clutch boost. You can pull off the one to the clutch & block up the pipe so inly the brakes are connected up to the vacuum. take the car for a spin somewhere safe and although the clutch will feel heavier, it wont slip, if it is the clutch boost leaking. If it still slips, just connect it back up & you can knock that off your list of things to check!
  8. The mans right, 99ron+99 octane in uk... either way... keep up the good work tesco.. lol Top fuel for a decent price :hyper:
  9. I think JDM HONDAPARTS do them, they sell that kinda stuff on ebay. Have bought bits off em before seem to be pretty good.
  10. Had similar problem myself turned out to be a leaking diapraghm in the clutch boost system... HTH.
  11. Might be worth checking the clutch booster/vacuum pipes to make sure theyre not leaking... can cause clutch slip. Just a thought... Hope its nothing major!
  12. I've found the BP ultimate to be ok too but it seems to be a few pence per litre more expensive around my area. Has anyone here tried the Esso high octane fuel? It seems really cheap compared to the other "Premium" fuels around... i assume theres a reason for that.
  13. Thanks for your help guys, re-blocked off the pipe and.... brakes back to normal, engine running smoother & clutch back to being heavy as fook... alls well then. lol cheers guys.
  14. Just a quick note: Thanks to all who posted & explained this for me... my pipe has been re blocked & all is well... thanks again.
  15. So what if the non-return valve is faulty? Need to get this sorted & the easiest/cheapest way I reckon is to put it back how it was... but I really need to get this investigated properly I think... (Too poor now... bloody christmas lol!)
  16. ok another thing guys... is it dangerous to leave the system with the clutch boost pipe off & plugged... ? lots of people on here seem to have done it... just getting a bit paranoid now!
  17. Ok two different answers there.. but to be honest the one from fraser would explain my situation, no disrespect there gruntpa64... So the best bet is to get the garage to put the pipe back as it was... I was quite happy with it how it was before! tossers... Have to interfere just to add a few quid to the bill! :-(
  18. "I just got my car back from its first service since i bought it 3 months ago, according to the garage the previous owner had pulled off a vacuum pipe from the clutch (from the servo-assist) and bunged up the end... the garage has un-bunged it & put it back on & the clutch is now much lighter. Now for my question: Any guesses as for what reason the previous owner might have removed it? We can't figure out what improvement it would make? It just makes the clutch feel heavier...." THANKS TO ALL WHO REPLIED TO THIS THREAD... the clutch boost diaprahm/valve does leak which is why it was disconnected... I have now got a new problem though... my brakes have been crappy ever since the garage connected this pipe back up... are they in any way connected or is this just coincidence? Any help is appreciated guys.
  19. Quick update, got a reply from boss, very apologetic, sure that my witness just saw some "Genuine exhaust system testing" but will be speaking to those involved, and offered to pay for any damage to vehicle that may have been caused (after an inspection of course), all in all I am fairly happy that someone is going to get their ass kicked & thats all i wanted really.
  20. The same's just happened to a guy in Exeter... took his race-tuned lotus exige in for a valet & they took it for a spin and wrote it of... to**ers!
  21. Damn spelling lol... my car of course (yes she purrs but no, not a cat! lol) Sent the guys a letter last week & an email yesterday yet to hear anything. They are this area's "Powerflow" dealer & if I dont get a suitable response will be emailing powerflow next... Bastids...
  22. surely if the clutch booster just makes it easier to push the pedal you just wouldnt bother? & why take the pipe off? What advantage does that have over just leaving it fuc*ked?
  23. A month or so ago I took my cat to a mod garage in PAIGNTON devon called "WATSON AUTOMOTIVE", and to cut a long story short, one of my mates saw them doing burnouts in the rear yard with my car... I had took it in for an exhaust adjustmnent & just said i'll be back in a couple of hours. My mate was in checking on a job & some of the staff were sat in it revving the **** out of it to spin the back wheels... ****ers... TAKE YOUR CAR HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK! C**nts!
  24. I know someone who bought one of these & fitted it to hid xr3i and... with a stopwatch doing a 100m run we couldnt make out any difference whatsoever before & after... just don't bother!
