I had similar problems, wasnt affected by speed just intermittent. Car went for 60k service and pump appears to be leaking.

Idler Bearings
Right, more searching. Deffo have electric HICAS which doesnt work of the hydraulics of the pump. Which also means to eliminate it I have to just pull the fuse. ronnie (must go to bed....)

Idler Bearings
bloody zeds, nowt ever easy on them. Craig, think i must have the NA pump fitted to mine. Did a search and basically the TT pump is two pumps the front unit working the steering and the rear unit the HICAS. Now on my 94 I dont have the HICAS solenoid(in the engine bay) which means that I have electronic HICAS but does the HICAS still not need the pump to work it? Or has my car had it removed. Smithy, do you have a pic of the NA pump to compare? Will give you a buzz tommorrow Craig. cheers ronnie

Dodgy noise on starting
Hello mate, over the last week or two I had noticed a slight noise. I know my p.s pump is dodgy as the steering is occasionaly heavy. took it today to another forum members(craig-s) to do service. On taking everything apart p.s pump is leaking but also found excessive play on tensioner pulley and worryingly one of the idle pulley was in a very bad way-stiff. Could have been potentially very nasty. So hopefully getting them sorted. ronnie

Hello guys, Need to get decat pipes as my right side cat pipe is leaking. I have a 94 TT, series 2 and heard before that the decat pipes for series 1 and 2 are slightly different. Does anyone know if this is correct before I get a set. thanks in advance ronnie

What car for £30k???
For 30k you could get a nice 996 carrera 2/4 with GT3 kit or spend 20k on a nice E39 M5 and spend 10k on mods. Both have enough space for the kids...
