  1. Morning all.... I had a look at the MAF and the air filters. The Air filter has defo seen better days! Its non standard and looks pretty old.... Does anyone / Can anyone sell me the parts I will need to convert it back to standard? (Air box etc)
  2. Hi, yes it does hang in the gears too long (when the problem is occuring - it doesn't do it all the time) I think the car was in storage for about 6months before I bought it. When it is running rough though, if you floor the throttle it changes up ok (ish) its mainly when the car is changing up from 1st to 2nd at normal speeds it revs up quite high and then jerks into 2nd... after that it can't seem to figure out which gear it should be in and changes up & down randomly. I'll check the filter tonight when I get home though, would a wet air filter affect the tps though?
  3. Yes the power light flashes once if its working ok, and if not it flashes about 10-15 times I think
  4. I defo am getting an education now! Thanks all.... I will check it out and let you all know. Its great to see how helpful everyone is on here! Thanks again:thumbup:
  5. Any idea why it comes up with TPS sensor when running the auto diagnostic check? Or can this not really be trusted?
  6. I'll give that a go actually.... I also get the problem after I have washed the car so that kind of makes sense (the hose pipe squirting water throught the front grill) Mine has an aftermarket cover over this and it has the 2 vents... I know that the standard doesn't (do you think that is the reason?)
  7. Thanks for all your help guys... I'll check the filter and MAF tonight. Think I'll also contact Mr Dent, Shrewsbury isn't too far for me. I also noticed that there was Quavey: Near Lancaster? That is not far at all for me?
  8. Hi gary, again, not sure... I'll take a look when I get home later. I think it is the standard air filter though. That's brill Tom, its great to be a part of the club. Like I said I love this car...... just doing my head in as I feel like it has its own mind! One day it'll be perfect, others a nightmare... I only find out what mood its in when I start it. If the Power button flashes when I start it up its in a bad mood... if it doesn't then it'll be perfect :confused1:
  9. Thanks guys, I'll check the MAF later.... where is it? Re the vibration, no, not had it checked out yet. I've rang around a few garages and the minute I say its a 300zx they tell me they don't feel comfortable working on it. Really need a good mechanic to give it the once over.
  10. Hi All, Just thought I'd say hi! Got my 1st 300zx tt (auto) about 4 weeks ago now, really love it as it has been a dream car since I first saw one when I was 10 years old lol! The car is beautiful and it turn so many heads. It has however a couple of issues I wondered if anyone can help with: When the weather is dry, the car runs perfect.... when it is damp, tbh its awful! When its damp, it idles at around 1500rpm and changes gears randomly and irratically. I have completed the auto diagnostic check which I found online and it came up with the throttle position sensor. Only issue I've got is I can't find a garage willing to work on the car in the local area to check this! Does anyone know any good garages near Chorley / Preston / Bolton / Wigan that could help fix up the car and also give it a good check over? (There is also a slight vibration through the steering wheel when on the motorway so want this checking out aswell) Any help would be great!
