  1. No probs-Have fun if you do :) -And get ready for shredding tyres, everyone I know who gets into trackdays gets slightly hooked.
  2. Everything you need to know can probably be found out by doing a 'TRACKDAYS' Websearch... Try these two... http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/trackdays/msv-trackdays.asp ^^^The venues on their site to tend to be the well known Circuits, and the vehicle requirements may be stricter. (Give them a ring regarding car regulations and what you may require to participate) The other 'TRACKDAY' company I know about is; http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/ ^^Tend to be the smaller/less well known circuits and airfields, this may be better if the car is SORN on the level of car requirements-But again they have a contact number where you can ask the questions you raised in your post.
  3. TBH I'd be a little worried about buying any second-Hand car that I couldn't inspect myself, let alone an obviously track set-up Skyline. Not saying that others can't/won't /don't, but Thats just a personal thing. You'd be buying going on what the seller lets you know, has the car been mapped for UK fuel? And as they are/Have been modified how can you examine any potential or possible wear problems. With no Dyno's its a possibilty that the car also had more parts on it that were removed before sale? Also would want to know some history on things like services (Gun-metal GT-R)-Its about the right mileage for major service. A cage wouldn't neccessarily put me off a car if I could view it! (If it was in the UK) Just adds to strength the chassis as well as do the job its intended for. And if you go to the bother of fitting a cage probably means track days. So thats where I'd want the car/engine thoroughly checked over for signs of wear. Though doesn't mean it won't have been looked after, alot of cars are driven on tracks and most cars of a high performance with age will have seen some what of a thrashing in their life when not stock. But it may well have been more regularly inspected/Serviced than a stock car as part of the maintance and replacement of parts (eg.Brakes-Clutch etc). Would the seller provide any warranty???
  4. I can honestly see this being another R8, Demand outstripping the ability to supply. Some will no doubt cash in and look to sell (Though to try and prevent this there have been warnings from Nissan of non-transferable warranty within an early ownership period) and sell at a premium. Long wait for the cars delievery though... ...Especially with testing of the already planned V-Spec version to follow.
  5. God I love this car in ALL its variants... (One pictured above is the Le Mans edition) The V12 TDI with a displacement of six litres powers a concept car based on the Audi R8. It generates a huge 500 bhp and 737.56 lb-ft of torque which is running efficiently at its peak just over 1700rpm. And the car still manages a combined 20mpg. With a 0-62 in JUST 4.2 Seconds and a Top Speed of 186mph, this is definately proof that fueling is evolving away from regular unleaded.
  6. Any other Z'ders attending this? Hopefully good weather and usually a great surface to run 1/4's on:)
  7. Who's was the Gunmetal Z (Very Nice:) )?? Didn't actually go myself but my Brother and a few mates from another car club did and took some video, great weather and seemed like a really good meet.
  8. I'd like to know where they are planning on brushing their teeth-----------> Errr....Where are the toothbrushes?
  9. Where are the Piccies Kim:D
  10. Like I said, I guess its down to the Owner to make the call, Aftermarket parts are indeed available and there are ALWAYS ways around the ECU Throwing codes... Interesting thread here goes more into it> http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/91361-bad-news-regarding-gtr.html?highlight=void+gtr+warranty Would you regard warranty as important, or does a few extra Ponies matter more? I think its a great car as is, and I guess if I were a prospective buyer with all the technology on board the new GT-R I'd like to know that should anything go wrong I'm covered.
  11. Not sure about the potential of the R8, BUT... GT-R-Unmodifiable...? Despite those mighty tuning companies at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon showcasing lots of examples of modified GT-R's, read this... http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default ... ryId=17579 'Reports have emerged revealing a number of new bits of tech that make sure the big Nissan will be an extremely tough nut to crack for anyone wanting to tinker with it.' 'Aftermarket alloys look like they are out, confirming rumours circulating the Tokyo motor show. A sensor is understood to be mounted on the valve stem and if the car is fitted with new rims an error code appears on the dash.' 'The new GT-R won’t allow custom exhausts either as any modification to the intake system causes the ECU to go haywire.' 'We reported a few weeks back that the car will remove its speed limiter when the car arrives at a track. Well, not only will the track have to be a Nissan approved track, not any old circuit, but owners are required to head over to a Nissan High Performance Centre for a £500 safety check afterwards.' If this is not done the car will make sure the warranty is void.' So even if the ECU is somehow reprogrammed or in fact completely replaced to accomodate any modification to the car, you'd void your warranty. But will this stop people from doing just that...The Big tuning houses I'd say NO, But will the owners-Hmmmn-Only time will tell I guess.
  12. Well firstly hats off to Nissan, coz if this is a case of you get what you pay for there really is nothing to compare it (GT-R) too!! Truely awesome. So, then GT-R....?! Nope, the R8 Is just stunning, performance is always a comparitive in Motors, but the R8 really has that something extra when you see it. Someone mentioned waiting for the latest R8 (££££'s more), but should you wait then for the V-Spec GT-R?, GT-R is the choice for pure performance, it has to be. The R8 (At lets not forget almost double the price) would have to be because you just absolutely love it. (IMO)
  13. Wish I could say revenge would be sweet.....But I don't have any ammo:rofl: Ummm....So I'll just stay quietly in the background-And recoil in embarassment at the last time I attempted a pic post.:o (NO!) ^Was such a nice day when that pic was taken. After seeing/hearing so much about the car, it was like meeting with me Idol:bow:
  14. Thanks for the reccommendation (
  15. Awww...How you Doing Mister Bantumbunny?? Like to give me two Pence worth every now and then:D
  16. Now I can only vouch for the way the car was running prior to the additional 80 or so extra Horses, but I can say after experiancing rides in everything from a Diablo, to an F430 Including several Z's Both stock TT and modified, that even then I can say with honesty that not only is your car a truely amazing build but the key to all of those goodies that have been added over all this time also come down to GREAT tuning. Totally smooth power delivery throughout the rev range, no lag and I knew even then there was more to give. I can only imagine what she's running like now-But like alot of others, I do hope to find out. Dyno's are Dyno's, all impressive numbers that you can push out, but its when the car puts the smile on a face of a slightly nervous passenger-When you lay that power on to the tarmac-Thats when all those hours and Pennies make sense... You know my thoughts and when you are ready to Hit Santa Pod (You have the nod for the D/R's BTW) You let me know;) Because of ALL the knowns/unknowns thats the one I want to see most. Congrats on a successful build and ONE UNIQUE Z! Enjoy :D
  17. Mac-An often unfortunate reality. Seriously though, Just don't skint yourself for a ring, If you are spending Five thousand on that, How much will the wedding be expected to cost??? :D Platinum or White gold is I think a good choice, tends to also go with most accessories (Earings etc.) ;) What Kind of jewellery does she tend to wear everyday? Does she want a big rock and the traditional solitaire or something different-Best way to find out is by (looking for a neckless for your mum) and seeing what she fixes on. Most of us tend to behave like a magpie.
  18. We ain't all that bad... :D All the best with the move.
  19. 2-up replied to jaffaZ32's topic in Events - UK
I've always kinda wondered this myself on here, as alot of the SE meets tend to be alot further and more Essex based and Midlands is a bit of a trek from Norwich, don't really think there is an East Anglia area as such But I think Jaffa mate, that is where you are from...LOL.
  20. Yeh... whats been your reason then? :x: LOL :D The 'Beast' from the East, part II ;) :D

God....I hate it when this topic comes up, I personally have respect and admiration for both (Have to, my dearest brother owns A supra) Performance wise, in stock or BPU form they are almost on par side by side. Though (in the wet especially) I would say that due to the Supra running sequential Turbo's the Z would have the edge on pull off, as the supra really will struggle to get traction. However there is no doubt in my mind that watching my brother now take his from TT and putting a large single Turbo on the Supra there is far less work involved on taking a Supra into serious Big BHP, firstly its the more simple straight six engine, the stock block is also quite capable of handling big power and some guys are quite happy to run big power on standard internals such is their confidence. To take a ZX engine to a similar say 500-600BHP, ask those that have done it on the Z to tell you how much they spent ££££'s (and then some) in comparison to a Supra owner. And if you are lucky enough to make such power in the Z you are certainly gonna have to consider getting something sorted for the gearbox, whereas the Supra's stock gearbox will consistantly take the power day in day out... Handling, again depends on the set-up, but in stock form I'd say the Z, but thats debateable and depends on which you like the feel of. Looks---ZX for me :) , But saying all this no matter what, I would choose the ZX EVERYTIME!!!! :) Its more sleek and not as in your face as the Supra.
  22. Now thats what I've been waiting for, to finally see the JUN 3.4 Stroker kit actually fitted into a Z :hyper: And if money were no object is exactly where I'd put my money as Reading up on the Z block (Above link is indeed one of the best detailed research articles explaining a good build) It would seem that the walls of the Z block are not that thick to take too much on an oversized rebore. But I'd say go for what you need, no point spending £8k on 3.4 Kit if you really aren't going to need that size displacement for the finished project. More essential is getting the the job done properly and the build quality, better to go in once, than find that if you've only done the pistons for a little bit extra you may have well just replaced and also upgraded the conrods. Make sure you have a good solid (no weakness or stress cracks appearing) block also, though a good engine builder will be able to check for you. A good quality solid and forged engine build is the foundation for which you can then have more peace of mind when adding the power from any further upgrades... All the best. ;)
