    Hi Robtor - just fyi, as a wimp, I get 20 - 24mpg.
  2. Just checked it and it works fine clicking from here. bloody bill gates again. Perhaps try going to http://www.300zx.org.uk and manually clicking on the misc info button? HTH

  4. bring about world peace and get David Seaman not standing in the wrong place... This is just my own opinion - anyone else is entitled to think the 300ZX is an underpowered lard bucket if they like - but I like the ZX as it is. Yes, there are things a lot of members recommend doing to the car. I guess most of them would be low key (remember Nico's advice not to do more than exhaust, induction and whatever the other thing was unless you have wodges of cash or tame Nissan engineer in your carport?). But for me, as it came is just fine. Got a Mongoose (better value than OEM) and will probably stop there. Ish. When someone comes on strong talking about changing the character of the car so much - mass reduction, extreme mods and so on, my gut reaction is that my choice of car is being criticised and that can annoy me. Which doesn't put me in a particularly mellow frame of mind to reply. Now it's fine for everyone to have their own opinion - and do whatever they like to their own car, but please bear in mind that to us old fogeys, the more people bang on about the stock Zed needing changing, the more it runs down the car we know and love. And as far as modded cars go, Pamela Anderson is quite impressive but I'll think I'll stick with me wife! Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I first saw the Rocky Horror Show in 1972 (gulp). mode> It was to be a night out I would remember for a verry loong timee.....mode> ;)
  6. OK I was trying to stay out of this as it seemed to be another Nelson "poke a stick in the anthill and see what happens" thread but I have to make 2 points. 1) You're all right - if we are talking about a constant gravity gradient (i.e. staying on the same planet) than mass/weight are directly linearly related. 2) driving a Z up an active volcano? Done every day in Montserrat by Jon Duberry - who needs a price for a new rad - pics in previous forum!
  7. Hi Jaz - "site looks awful" that's your opinion, not "truth". - "im a graphic designer so ive got to look at colour etc all day long to see which ones go together". Hi Granny, here's some eggs - would you like me to teach you how to suck 'em? - In the days when I used to do this for a living, there is no way that a graphic designer who couldn't spell or punctuate or do grammar would get any of my business. Not even if they thought they knew how colours go together. Can't be bothered with this. Jaz, if you would like to design and host a forum, I will be delighted to come and have a look. If I like it, I will even be happy to pay a sub. If you can't be bothered, please do not throw people's efforts in their faces. Of course we're being nice - that's what human beings do to each other.
  8. Actually, that's not a bad question. AFAIK the 300ZX is the only important car on the planet. But OTOH if you want to look into this seriously, perhaps you should suggest the "typical" car as a baseline? Not being awkward (well i probably am but perhaps I should have said not being argumentative), but you can see the answers to your q will be horribly different if someone thinks an Elise is typical, or a ZX or a Bentley or a ....... An Escort is probably horribly typical but I don't want to waste bandwidth on this heap of deleted :D
  9. very philosophical, Nelson. Impossible to answer unless someone defines what is meant by "bit" ;) Are we trying to find the heaviest bit and then throw it away? Then again, shouldn't all bits mass the same? 0111010111?
  10. But none of them seem to be red? http://octrr.clarion.edu/Picturepages/OC2.htm http://www.ausbcomp.com/~bbott/winrr/wrsf2184.htm http://peace.saumag.edu/swark/sara/sara_bodcaw/bodcaw/shayengine.html http://peace.saumag.edu/swark/sara/sara_bodcaw/bodcaw/shayengine.html "Switch engine" looks to be an Americanism for "shunter"? Maybe? We've got enough anoraks here, any trainspotters? MAC1 - they may have more horsepower than your KikAss but I don't think they'll outdrag you :D
  11. Ahhh, good point AndyP. Thank Buddha for the edit thingy. Surely no-one can complain about the list now? (hehehe - 'cors they bloody will). Sorry, Nelson, now I had to go to top ten posters, Mr MainFella didn't get onto the page (yet). Hey ho - who remembers "but it's all right now, I learned my lesson well, if you can't please everyone, you gotta please yourself..." Cheers All - Gio
  12. Not meant to insult anyone (except Porker, Banzai and the like) - just ran out of definitions and it didn't seem fair to leave either of you out! And I haven't got Senna in - nor several Andy's. Omigod, i left andyduff out so I'm off to hide before he sets BigRoy or Tooley loose. Arrrrrrgh  (there at least that's all the top 10 posters done)

It's worth doing a search on some of the old forum tech posts. Poly bushes seem to be toprated by members who've done it. I haven't so have no personal experience. I would swear by JeffTT and would use him for loads of jobs if Tamworth wasn't so far away. Cheers - Gio

  15. Of course the power goes to our heads - today the forum, tomorrow cyberspace :p We are just starting to draw up the new ranking for forum members so would like to post our suggestions here for your info / comment. ------------------------------------------------------------ US MODERATORS Leap tall buildings in a single bound, are more powerful than a locomotive, are faster than a speeding bullet, walk on water, give policy to God. MAC 1 Leaps short buildings in a single bound, is more powerful than a switch engine, is just as fast as a speeding bullet, talks with God. TIMMY_TURBO Leaps short buildings with a running start and favorable winds, is almost as powerful as a switch engine, is faster than a speeding BB, walks on water in an indoor swimming pool, talks with God if a special request is honoured. 300Z Barely clears a Quonset hut, loses tug-of-war with a locomotive, can fire a speeding bullet, swims well, is occasionally addressed by God. SRRAE / SENNA Makes high marks on the walls when trying to leap tall buildings, is run over by locomotives, can sometimes handle a gun without inflicting self-injury, treads water, talks to animals. ANDYDUFF / CLARKEY / JVNEWCOMBE1961 Climbs walls continually, rides the rails, plays Russian roulette, walks on thin ice, prays a lot. ANYONE WHO HASN'T PAID YET Runs into buildings, recognizes locomotives two out of three times, is not issued ammunition, can stay afloat with a life jacket, talks to walls. PORKER / BANZAI / ASSORTED F*CKWITS Falls over doorstep when trying to enter buildings, says "Look at the choo-choo", wets himself with a water pistol, plays in mud puddles, mumbles to himself. FORUM ADMINISTRATOR Lifts buildings and walks under them, kicks locomotives off the tracks, catches speeding bullets in his teeth and eats them, freezes water with a single glance, is God. -------------------------------------------------------------------- (Personal grovelling apologies available in writing just say if your offended by being left out or included ) Gio:D;)
  16. Hey, Subs, hang on in there - I've got to admit it's getting better, it's getting better all the time. I miss being able to see all fora on one single page before choosing which one to dive into. I haven't found 0.5 of the new stuff that's here and get lost a lot of times. I sometimes think there are too many fora but then remember the number of times I wish the general forum had been split down into specialised subjects. I also remember many requests for separate fora for things like trade sites. So at the same time I wish there were fewer fora and more fora. I guess it's like moving into a new home. In the old one, I could get to the bog at night without turning the light on and be confident that I wasn't p***ing into my stereo..... In the new one, I have to lift the lid and turn on the light just to be safe that I am not indulging in inappropriate micturition (bet the filter doesn't pick that one up ;) )
  17. He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy...... (thanks Timmy, been waiting for decades for this feedline :) ) Senna - peace & all - come back soon.
  18. Look, it's got nothing to do with the great administrators this forum's lucky enough to have (grovel, grovel) - but I thought this might appeal to those of us who have to deal with more traditional administrators / sales prevention officers / jobsworths etc: A major research institution has recently announced the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. This new element has been tentatively named "Administratium." Administratium has 1 neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 111 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by a force called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Administratium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected as it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of Administratium causes one reaction to take over 4 days to complete when it would normally take less than one second. Administratium has a normal half-life of 3 years; it does not decay but instead, undergoes a reorganisation, in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons and assistant deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Aministratium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganisation causes some morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to speculate that Administratium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referenced to as "Critical Morass." You will know it when you see it.
