Bringing my old Zed back to Life!
More than likely a bad coil pack/coil pack connection or maybe the PTU? Mine did the same after standing. Try some contact cleaner first on all the connections of the coilpacks/injectors and see what that does

Insurance on engine swaps.
I was 26 and with flux on the NA with nitrous and everything declared (about 2 pages of A4) it was £870 fully comp. I rang them up and told them the spec of what i was building and they said my premium wouldn't change so from 3 litres up to 6.3 litres - no difference :D Plus i still have a part complete V8 sitting in the garage and a subframe to go with it if you're interested.... ;) More bhp per pound and much easier to tune than anything else

How would you go about repairing this
Like Baz says black paint should sort it out. I'd personally pull the rubber off and use a brillo pad to remove the overspray Then unscrew the pop up things, rub them back and spray them with primer then black satin paint Then get the old wire brush attachment on the drill and take the hole front bar right back to the metal to see what's left there Ally mesh for the holes and i'd highly recommend rust eater then the metal filler that is open do now with ally pieces in there Then the usual of flatting back, primer, flatting back, colour, flatting back then laquer if you need it.

Engine swaps, what would be interesting in a 300?
That would be an awesome engine especially if you rear mounted it too :D

Engine swaps, what would be interesting in a 300?
Depends if you can speak to the underwriters or not, my V8 is going to cost £850 fully comp per year so expect to pay about £500 i would have said. I did think about that but then the whole point of a zed is that it's a 6 cylinder car and if i'm going to take the stigma of running a diesel might as well stick to 6 cylinders plus I have a feeling the V8s would be a much bigger engine to fit in. That BMW 6 cylinder is the best option so far unless anyone knows of any 200bhp 6 cylinder nissan diesel engines?

Project Eco-Zed
Never let it be said that i'm not afraid to try something new ;) Just need to find an empty SWB shell, preferably slick top with no engine or gearbox

Project Eco-Zed
In the times of sky high insurance, petrol prices on the rise and the fact most people have to commute further to work i've had to resort to driving a supermini to work and back on my 250 mile commute each day. It's a great little car don't get me wrong but it's just not as nice or as comfortable as the zed is. The V8 is going to be pulling in about 10-16mpg and the whole point of that is indulgence so i'm not touching that, that's for racing and the odd treat drive. So what i'm proposing to do is probably sacrilege in most people's books on here but i'm going to start on project Eco-Zed! A true 200bhp 50+mpg sports coupe. I'm honestly not joking, having done one engine swap and found what's involved i know what i'm letting myself in for and I fancy the challenge of probably being the only guy to try it. The last thing i want is a clattery old 4 cylinder job so that's straight out of the window, this has to still sound like a sports car when it's on full song for me and there's only 2 engine's that meet the specs for me. Volvo 2.4 D5 Turbo - Sounds great, 168bhp stock but can easily be chipped over 200bhp but front wheel drive BMW 3 litre Turbo Diesel - 6 cylinder, rear wheel drive, 6 speed box, more like it but harder to get hold of I won't be starting this till next year but i've already started thinking about all the intricacies :) But it means i could have a lovely stock looking zed that gets me to and from work for £30 a week and still goes like a non turbo zed *WAITS FOR FLACK* :slap:  lol

Engine swaps, what would be interesting in a 300?
A little project i was thinking of with thread to follow ;) Basically, i love zed's, i love driving my zed, i can't wait to drive my new V8 when it's done but that's going to 10mpg and i'll only drive it about twice a week :( What i'd like is the complete opposite, a super light, super efficient zed that sounds good still even though it's a diesel, none of this clattering 4 cylinder muck under the bonnet and having heard the 5 and 6 cylinder diesels I could live with that :D So after the V8's finished i'll be starting project Eco-Zed to take over from the metro next year :D 50+mpg and the comfort and handling of a normal zed and around 200bhp

Derren Brown
I did think that possibly or something on the stand that printed from underneath Having seen the channel 4 intros with the floating 4s and motion tracking i think this is more than likely the way he did it
