Top Gear Episode Preview: Sunday 4th Jan...
After last week's record-breaking return, Top Gear TV is firmly back in the groove. The dancing girls have been sent home - sorry, Jeremy - and normal service has been resumed... if you can call maxing a Bugatti Veyron, crashing a train and discussing testicles with Hugh Grant 'normal'. To find out what happened backstage at filming, check out our behind-the-scenes gallery. On this Sunday's show: Captain Slow and the Bugatti Veyron As you might have gathered, TG rather likes the Bugatti Veyron. Not least because the 1,001bhp monster has a claimed top speed of 253mph. But will it ever actually go that fast? Armed with the Veyron's special 'go really fast' security key, James heads to the five-and-a-half-mile straight at VW's maximum security test track in Germany to find out. In the news this week... Find out why Porsche is keeping everyone in the dark about its new Cayenne, what the TVR house band sounds like, and why Prince Charles has lined his garage with petrol. Also, the boys check out a 'supercar by George' (can you guess which one it is?), discuss their best and worst drives of the past six months, and reveal why undertakers will soon be out of business. Hugh Grant in a Reasonably Priced Car You've probably heard of him. Yes, he's a real, proper Hollywood star and, according to Jeremy, the very man for whom Star in a Reasonably Priced Car was conceived. Hugh Grant - foppish Englishman extraordinaire and star of Notting Hill and Love Actually - ditches his Bentley GTC for our Chevrolet Lacetti and takes to the TG test track to show off his full repertoire of curiously endearing blasphemy. The Three Coupe Challenge Want a coupe for around £25,000? You're spoilt for choice, with the brand-new Audi TT, Alfa Romeo's gorgeous Brera and the manic-revving Mazda RX-8 all vying for your pocket money. After a heady row, the boys couldn't find a clear winner, so they decided to settle the debate in that time-honoured fashion: a good old game of golf. Train Crash TV It might surprise you, but no one's ever asked Top Gear to make a public information film. Until now. Jeremy dons a high-visibility jacket and a pair of hard hats to extol the dangers of pensioners, level crossings and, erm, high-visibility jackets. OK, so he got a bit confused. Basically it's all an excuse to pile an express train into a Renault Espace at high speed, with seriously spectacular results.

Blooming brakes...
UPDATE Well it's buggered. Finished fitting the discs and pads the other sides with no drama, took about 30/40mins. We've had a blowtorch on both connectors, various clamps, sockets, wrenches, spanners and everything else and CANNOT get either the connector between flexible pipe and mini brake line or between the flexible pipe and main brakeline to budge a mm and given up on the top one in case we round that off as well, we've used every type of spanner available and they all slip. The car's pissing brake fluid out the drivers side and i have no brakes so looks like it a call first thing in the morning to find a brake/engineering specialist with the tools to remove and replace the connector. Why is everything so rotten on this car compared to my old one when they're the same age? Soon as i can afford it i'll be taking the car in for mickyb to fit the brembo kit, replace the pipes and completely overhaul the suspension and lower it front and back. There goes another couple of grand lol

i've actually got one in the cupboard that came with the car. It wasn't hooked up as the guy had replaced the stereo with an aftermarket one. If you're interested i can dig it out for you? Guys does anyone know if you need a keycode on the cd player to get it to work or will it work as you plug it in?

Blooming brakes...
Pure gas/plus gas whatever the bloomin stuff is i haven't got any in the shed lol I never use a mallet on the end unless i'm holding the other end on with my fingers to stop it pinging off and damaging something anyway. The bolts just needed a tap to get them going as they'd seized. Plus i was using a crows foot spanner to undo the nuts on each end of the pipe but as with all old cars especially when they're old, the edges of them just give up the ghost and wear off, usually due to someone using the wrong tool for the job the last time they were done unfortuantely. As you say nothing i can do apart from hope that by tomorrow the plus gas will have soaked in enough that i can use a wrench to grip in and turn it enough to loosen it. Fook knows what i'll replace it with though.

Blooming brakes...
It's always the way, a simple couple of hours doing a simple job turns into nightmare from hell. Was changing the discs and pads over so all i had to do was get the wheel off, pop out the brake pads, undo the two bolts holding the calipers on then whip the disk off, pop the new one on, grease the new pads and put it all back together. What happens? I have to use a mallet the get the top bolt moving just tapping the end of the spanner when it slips and flattens the bend in the brake pipe going to the top of the caliper  so for the past 2 hours all i've been trying to do is undo the bolts holding the pipe in place so i could get a new one made up at shepshed autospares. What happens? The usual, the bloody things are so old the bolt faces shear off and although the caliper end is now undone, can i get the axle end to undo? Can i *****cks :( Had to leave it as the light is going now, no wheel, no brake disc dripping brake fluid everywhere and now i can't find the frigging pure-gas to soak it in overnight. ARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!! :headvswal
