I wouldn't smooth them in personally they've got a certain rover mini sports pack arch kind of thing going on and if you look at the photo they're not actually blended in and they look great:

I was going to say the casting quality is always going to have weak points whereas that block will be as strong all the way through it and very lightweight

Believe me the amount of hassle i had to get mine on cost me 100 quid for a set of spacers as Slick Pete said better to buy wheels made specifically for the zed otherwise you'll hit problems I had to fit these to get my front ones to fit...
