SKY TV Problem
Oh by the way I dont rate 3DTV on a daily basis, great for films, not workable with a young family. so most of the time dont spend watching in 3D. I obviously do not have SKY 3d with my standard box but the tv does quite a good job of changing standard signals into 3d the few times I have used 3d. I was impressed by the store display so went for 3d, if you are thinking about going down that road I would personally wait or get a larger screen full hd tv for the comparable price. just my opinion I know others may disagree, depends on your situation though. for me kids and 3d glasses dont mix :)

SKY TV Problem
hi the picture keeps breaking up then it might just go off so I turn it off leave it for a few minutes then turn it back on, sometimes its ok then other times it says no satellite signal being received and you cant get anything up, I have never had this problem before. I think its just a bit worn out too every now and again I have to re adjust the scart cable as it gets loose easily and lines appear across the tv, its the box connector not the cable. the caple is a quality cable plugged into a 3dtv purchased just 2-3 months ago, tv works just fine. So I came to the conclusion the box is playing up. signal strength when I check it seems ok so cant think what else to do. I think its time I had a more up to date box being able to record things would be great havign two young kids and a busy job. the problem I am having too is annoying when the kids are watching something then it goes off, try to explain to a 2-3 year old why disney just went off he he.

SKY TV Problem
Hi I was not wanting to cause an argument sorry I only had a basic sky box though no hd or sky plus so i was just stating thet £60 to fix that seems a bit steep when you can get a standard crappy box for cheap. I just wanted to see what other people would recommend. i understand 12 months and warranty is gone i would not mind too much paying £60 for a fancy new hd box replacement but for one of the old standard ones not really hence my question. On another point someone mentioned mobile contracts, in my opinion if a provider offers you an 18 month contract or even 24 months in some cases with a phone then I do beleive that they should offer a warranty for that period, my wife had an lg phone that died 13 months into an 18 month contract and the provided did not want to know, that way you do feel a bit short changed. This is not the situation with my sky deal though I have had sky for a few years now, I called up once before and they offered me nothing when I said I was thinking about leaving I currently have all the sport and movie channels plus all the other packs apart from some premium choices. from what people have said I think its worth trying again with sky to see what they may offer me given all the custom I have given them. i would not mind getting a new box even if I have to stick with them for another 12 months. also thanks to the person who suggested calling them out having moved. I will let you know how I get on in the end.

SKY TV Problem
Hi i have had SKY Tv for a few years now, just the standard box and we just moved house, typically the box is now playing up, SKY want around £60 to fix it or replace it and that seems out of order to me. You can pick up standard SKY boxes off ebay for around £20 and I have seen one or two Sky +HD models for for around £35. Has anyone got any advice on what I should do. I did a self install at our new place so would it be worth my while cancelling all together and starting fresh again or just get another used box? I have heard loads are just tat though and it can be a can of worms. I would welcome some views on this I need to do something soon as I am getting tired of freeview :)

ebay tosspot
Dont hit your head against a brick wall, get your refund and walk away the other options will most likely cause you so much hassle and you wont get what you want for the price. Get a refund, leave negative feedback then move on.

Shud I let him???
Keep the email asking to complete outside of ebay so if you do buy it outside of the bay and he has not been honest about the vehicles condition you you can still report him and get him suspened or banned. Best to check the car out properly before handing any cash over ebay or not. If you buy a car blind and only go off the description than thats your choice dont complain if you get your fingers a little burnt. I would not buy a car off ebay without checking it out first, too many messers trying to offload problem vehicles. If its too cheap then theres probabaly a reason.

student protests
As you may be able to tell from the rest of this post, I am more than pissed off with the situation we find ourselves in as a nation. Students have a right to protest but there are far more structural issues here. Over the past 10 years or so it seems like any old person can find their way onto a state subsidised course, yes education should be for all but should a degree? This has led to education post 16 being attractive for dossers who can get a few more years of fun out of life whilst someone else picks up the tab. There will always be people that live of daddy and mummy, there always has been but the problem with the system we have now is more than that. If they want to doss it is their choice and should be their loss, at present there seems little consequence though as people can find themselves easily on benefits after dossing about at university for a few years. What is needed is a focus. People should be doing courses that lead to real jobs and the whole country, government and economy including the private sector need to get their acts together to tackle this one given the mess we are in now. That way there would be businesses with a supply of quality people that meet their needs, more motivation and pathways to progress. Hopefully less courses available to dossers as there would be no real progression into a real job etc. just upping fees is not the solution as some people from poorer backgrounds will become excluded when they could have performed equally as well or better then one of their more well off counterparts. This country has had it wrong for so long. I deal with delagations from around the world including China and when their students go on a course it is with a clear purpose and motivation in mind, it is often backed by a private sector business and it works. Now we dont want to be like china but we do need to get a focus. Give young people a chance to succeed instead of offering them up more meaningless crap that will not cut it in the real world and help people to make something of themselves. If people dont want to help themselves out when they are presented with the opportunity they they should not get any reward. I am not particularly disagreeing with any view on this forum but I think that the problems are just part of a far bigger one that needs cracking including the state of our welfare state and public sector. The fact is nobody has all the answers, the politicians certainly dont, so everyone needs to pull together to work this through, sadly I feel many wont. Too many people only look out for themselves these days and could not give a toss about other people regardless of faith, wealth etc, this is the way we have become as a nation. I see this every day. There are some cracking people out there both young and old, however they are an ever reducing percentage of the population. Lets face it we are in a right old mess that none of us made, we need economic growth, we need more jobs a state system that is fit for its purpose and a country that will then create more opportunity for more people. Everyone that works hard should benefit be they employed, self employed etc. No effort no reward simple as that. If people try then they should get help. Freeloaders not welcome. Well more like freeloading will not be possible if we had our act together as there would be nothing for them to claim. Now would that not be a big motivation to do something with the gift of life and for families to work together. Thats my 2p worth.

Jail ??? Give him a medal !!!
If he had just given the guy a beating he would most likely be dead by now as the other scumbags would have come to their mates aid and beaten the guy to death, this has happened a number of times in the UK as teenagers off their heads end up killing someone. The stabbing is extreme but probabaly also saved the guys life by scaring the others off. The country takes one spin around the pan on its way down the toilet. This was un-necessary if such problems were nipped in the bud early it would never escalate to these levels the guy now has to live with this persons death on his conscious forever, I dont expect he would take a medal if it were offered to him.

I've been run over
You are doing the right thing going the legal route its possibly the only way to get some action now. keep away from the papers if you are going down this route though. She needs her license taking off her at least, an apology would help too. I would kill the driver in a blink of an eye if it were one of my kids she had hit, I dont think I would be able to stop myself regardless of the consequences. This is a terrible story and I feel sorry for you.

Annoying Ebay buyers
Ebay is also good if you say for sale locally and then if a serious bidder comes from ebay to view your car before the end of the auction then you could sell it to them if they flash the cash and offer the right price. Ebay is excellent to get your car exposure to loads of people sadly some of them are timewasters.

What do you really hate?
People who abuse blue badges People who almost come to a standstill in their cars before turning left off a main road. Lazy public sector managers and directors who protect their own jobs even thought they are crap and could not lead themselves out of a paper bag leaving the voluntary sector who could pick up a lot of their services and deliver them far better and cheaper out in the cold - Fact. Liberal Democrat - Liars plus a lot of politicians in general. Liars Self opinionated arrogant Ba*****s Benefit and tax fraudsters who own countless houses in their other family members names but claim free rent council tax etc. IF someone paid my mortgage on my house I could quickly afford to be able to buy other houses but nobody does! I know many that do this now and that really makes my blood boil. Waiting your turn at a bar only for 2-3 other people that came well after you to get served first. Marmite People who talk loudly on their mobile phones on the bus. ( I dont want to know about your life aarrgghh) Scroungers who sit in the pub all day every day opposite my office living the good life with no consequences for their behaviour or threat to their income whilst I work hard to keep my guys in jobs and seem to get less for my own family. People who make silly offers when you are selling a house People who want everything but who are prepared to put in nothing People who disrespect and insult our armed forces, their families and kids just for doing their job. The trend that has grown in the post office when you come in for a stamp they ask you if you want a credit card, insurance, foreign currency, a handjob... etc. well maybe not the last one but you get the drift. The Burkah trend in the UK Generally the fact that this country is going down the pan quick time Bank Fat Cats that caused a lot of this mess we find ourselves in right now Brain dead ebayers who bid on something then change their mind and dont pay or come up with some lame excuse. Wannabee gangsters Getting caught short somewhare, needing a crap and then finding there is no toilet roll! After all this there should be a thread that says what do you really like about life to counter this thread. I know its friday but thinking about some of the stuff in this thread is depressing!

whoops, what have i done...
I have never seen one with a proper speed camera detector unit. The satnav ones just tell you about fixed cams and likely mobile placements but they will not detect the actual frequency etc like a radar detector. I would get a seperate radar detector and maybe get it hard wired in so its all neat.

Bloody shop assistants
Having been an online retailer and worked in a store I can say that most of the views expressed are fair on this thread to some extent. Online sales can be good but when things go wrong, lost or delayed deliveries etc then people often turn back to shops as they can get what they want straight away usually and some online customer service is apalling if non existent that can get you into even more of a rage, I have seen people really take the P*ss at the end of a phone or via email and that is very bad, you would not (hopefully) treat people like that face to face. Yes there are a lot of poor sales assistants it seems these days but there seem to be more dead beat people in society too. People should be booted out for giving bad service in my opinion. I believe local shops that offer great service will always thrive if they are not too far off the mark on price or service, people appreciate that. Businesses can play to a market, go for customers who appreciate that too and dont mind paying a little extra. Yes there can be bad customers too, you can never please some people and there are a few that just want something for nothing, the amount of times I have been enraged with some people is unreal but there are ways of politely telling people to rock right off. Not everyones cup of tea but dont forget your local markets too there are often loads of really great sellers that have been in business for years, look after their customers and are far cheaper than supermarkets in many cases. Here is a real story about an elderly friend of the family that I could not beleive but is true. Guy goes to local Tesco store with his wife, he can not find a product, he then politely asks a shop assistant if they can tell him where the prodict is. Gets no response, guy asks the women the question three further times saying excuse me every time. Still no reply. Guys wife says to her husband you will have to speak up maybe she can not hear you. Guy asks again a bit louder only for the shop assistant to turn around and say I am busy, leave me alone, dont you get the message! I find this apalling for a polite elderly guy to be treated like this , infact for that case anyone. Well what happens next is interesting, the guy loses his cool, takes his nearly full basket and emptlies it out in the aisle next to the shop assistant. Says to his wife lets go we wont be shopping here again and says to the assistant, you have got even more to be busy with now explaining to your boss why all this stuff is in your aisle. As he leaves the store goes to customer service and explains what has happened and why. They then goes home. Now I hope that assistant got in trouble for that, I also hope Tesco noted that and take more time to train their staff or support them so they can do their job and also give good service. I have usually found supermarket staff to be ok when you ask about something but it just goes to show it takes all sorts.

and he survived this airbourne crash
Those central reservations in the Us often dip down whihc this one looks like it does if you are going 100 the car will not dip as in the video so when it hits the barrier it will already be off the ground, there very dangerous, so is the condition of some roads in the us. I have driven all across the US in many states and its the same story you can be going along and all of a sudden a crater or a gap/ lip appears on an otherwise perfectly good piece of highway. Our roads are not always perfect but there are worse.

Experience of selling a private number plate
Hi I have not had much luck so far in selling my mk1 gs300 sport but am now interested in findning out if anyone has had any experience of selling a private number plate to one of these companies that buy or offer them as I might get a few quid for the private plate that is on it. Can anyone recommend any good companies that they might have used or know are ok?
