Hey all Engine is out and the garage called with the damage. Center piston passenger side was not fitted properly and come away and damaged the bore and the crank. Also the tubs might be fooked they are double checking in case the oil that spilled out of them has come from somewhere else ...Longshot. New engine needed or a rebuild from scratch with a reground crank and relined bore. etc etc etc... :hurl:

thanks mate ive never driven anything more powerful than my old 300hp porker. Id like the zed to be as quick as say a tuscan what sort of power should I be aiming for? I want to create a well balanced driveable road and track car. Not so much power that it overwhelms the chassis and suspension.

Hey guys and girls Lots of smoke at the W/E so took it into the garage and low compression on number 5, full of oil. Its coming out tomorrow to get the full picture. Gutted once again! Hey Ho at least it will be fixed when I get it back I guess. Any tips for what to get done while its out? I was going to get the engine bay steam cleaned and get the heater matrix replaced. Its got wiseco pistons and 555's is it worth investing in after market rods or are the standard ones up to the job? Cheers

Thanks mate I just took it out for another test and its smoking like a good un again and running very lumpy by the time I got home Im guessing ive lost a plug or a coil as well?. Its fine when accelerating but come off the gas and then back on and a huge trail of smoke out the back and through the vents inside the cart and even out of the dash!!!!! Must be the turbos. Ill have to run it into the garage and get them to look at it.

Thanks Skey I got some anyway, it had too much oil in it when I got it so Im guessing they might have got gunked up.

Suspension advice please & Update
Hey all My car has got some jap coilovers on it at the mo but the are rock hard and seriously low. Can anyone recommend a good set up for road and track? Id like to stick to coilovers as I havent got any of the original parts. Then I need to get some adjustable tension rods etc as its running on standard equipment. I replaced the engine loom and in so doing removed the interior and dash, repaired anything that needed it and put in some new "chunes" as well (thanks ebay!). Found a couple of loose hoses in the engine bay and having put it all back together with a new ptu and plugs and coils it runs like a dream. It was smoky but now seems to have cured itself? but have ordered some new pcv's anyway. The turbos werent spinning up in 3,4&5 but having re-connected the loose hoses that I found in the engine bay its boosting to 1 bar and feels strong. I took it out for a test drive and got 230k (on a track of course officer) on the clock but bottled it as the suspension doesnt like anything that isnt pancake like. Thanks mate but Im based in Dorking bought the car of a bloke in Gloucester who got the turbos from SWZ obviosly cos thier close to him. I got my local garage to look at the turbos and they reckon they were fine.

Hey all Finally got the new engine loom in, new ptu and interior back in with new cabling for the amp, speakers front and rear, and cleaned up, looks great. But! Its still pretty smoky but not persistent, 2nd gear 2500 to 3000 revs we get a gentle amount of very oily smoke. Under acceleration its fine, stop and its fine but every now and then pull up and your are overtaken by a smoke cloud! My question is how do I get the car to stop smoking? get the engine rebuilt? new seals rings etc? get rid of the de-cat? 100 cel cats? Anyhow answers on a post card please.

Thanks mate ill see if I can hire a thai lady to screw it back into the back of the engine. Maybe if I take the AC out again it might be easier. Would this cause my car not to start or is it just that the car hates me?

Hey all Still trying to find why my car wont start!!! but have noticed the following: The negative cable from my battery goes first to a clamp that has it bolted to the car body. It then goes along the top of the engine bay and then drops straight down behind where the loom goes through the body wall into the cabin. Just as it gets level with my air con pipes there is a big copper ring on it that clearly should be connected to something. If you follow it past here its connected to the gearbox. Where does it go? back of the engine or onto the body again? would this cause my car to suddenly decide not to start?

car wont start
Have read on another thread that often if the ecu connector is screwed in too tight it doesnt start either, just a thought. Mines outside the same turns over but doesnt start. It was starting but had a misfire so I cleaned the temp sensor connector and now it wont start! Ive ordered a new PTU as mine is the original S1 and a second hand good working CAS and new sensors as Im tired of trying to find out which bit needs a wiggle! Good luck Z1 in the states are selling PTU for 150 dollars and good used CAS for the same if you want to do the same.

Thanks Andy Spent the day putting the dash and everything back together The CAS and PTU are originals and the inside of the CAS was pretty corroded so Ive ordered some new ones from the states. Ill stick the new ones on and then take it from there have bought all new temp sensors as well for good measure. IT WILL BLOODY WORK!!! IT WILL!!!

Misfire! ideas please
Hey all spoke to zed world they said clean up the temp sensor connectors first so I did this. cleaned up put it back and now it turns over but wont start! I took the CAS off and gave it a turn and II heard the injectors prime? sort of like a mechanical squirting noise Im guessing that means its working. Doesnt do anything more than that. Im starting to loose my mind! First a mis fire now it wont start!
