No Electrical Power at all!
Right, checked the battery, it seems fine. I looked in the fuse panels and the first thing that caught my eye was that the 10A fuse in the front board (marked air con) had lit up, so i think that one has blown. Would that cause the whole car not to start? I found the immobilizer unit and the LED on it wasn't lit so I don't think its active.

No Electrical Power at all!
All good ideas, I'll check into them. One thing I noticed was there was a couple of cable hanging under the dashboard in the foot well. The go from somewhere under the steering column and disappear into the area by where my left foot sits. I wondered if I had caught them getting in but them seemed intact when i checked this morning. To be honest I don't know what they are for. I'm at work right now but I will check everything you mentioned Medallion Man. Cheers

Thanks Medallion Man, I'll check there too. Something I forgot to mention was that there is an aftermarket Autowatch immobilizer fitted, don't know if that could cause any problems but thought I should mention it. Cheers

No Electrical Power at all!
Hi folks Another day, another problem! Yesterday I fitted my speedo converter, with the help of these forums, and everything seemed okay. I went for a few short drives, played with all the switches and buttons on the dash and declared the job well done. When I got back from the pub last night I sat in front of my house and decided to play with the lights, and make sure they all checked out okay. I was turning them on and off, getting out, checking the bulbs and stuff, when suddenly I lost all power to the whole car. I got back in and shut the door, and all the power came back for about 2 minutes, then went again. The car is totally dead, and I had left the window open XD . So thats the story. The car seems to have no power to anything at all, not the lights, dash, stereo, interior lights, alarm or anything. After fitting the speedo converter yesterday the car was running perfectly all day until this happened. My first check will be the battery of course, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to proceed from there, as I have the feeling the battery will be fine. Cheers John

Advice with dashboard wiring
Well got it all fitted and seems to be working well enough. It makes the speedo a little unresponsive below 10mph but seems to read correctly. I'm a lot happier driving without having to convert the kph to mph in my head! Cheers everyone

Thanks for the reply Groover. Had a look at the link, the image wouldn't display but I think I know which bit you mean now: Is it that bit I circled in red? Cheers

Advice with dashboard wiring
It's a 1990 N/A Auto. I believe it is a Series 1 cluster as the plug for the speedo attaches vertically, not horizontally (looking at this picture http://www.zcentre.co.uk/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/photo11%20609%20series%201%20and%202%20copy.jpg) Cheers

Advice with dashboard wiring
Hi everyone I'm currently in the process of fitting an electronic speedo converter to my Z, but having a little trouble. Its a JDM one that reading in KPH, so I got hold of one of those little chips off the internet to convert it. I believe I've successfully spliced it into the speed sensor line that runs into the back of the speedo gauge, but I also need to connect it to a (+12v) line and (Neg) line and am having trouble finding a suitable one. Does anyone have any suggestions? The cables attached to the converter are about 4 inches long so they have to be fairly close to the socket in the back of the speedo gauge. Cheers for the input! John

New 300ZX Owner!
Hi all, thought I'd introduce myself. My names John and I've just got my hands on my first 300ZX, which is also my first 'big' car. It's a 1990 N/A in red. I'm based around the Cheltenham area. I'm sure to have lots of questions over the next few weeks, and this place looks to be by far the best place to get information. I'm looking forward to my journey with my 300! Cheers John
