My wife has suffered from osteoarthritis in her left hip form the age of 16 when she was a passenger in a RTA. she has been told the same and is not old enough for a replacement at 35. She is a bit over weight but IMO not fat. And the reason is because she can not exercise. She can manage around the house but it causes her so much discomfort that it annoys me sometimes when she wont stop but she is a proud person and soldiers on regardless. Apparently with the technology available today they can only perform 2 hip replacements that each last 10 years. Therefore if she had one now and again in 10 years by the time she is 55-60 she wont be able to walk again or the hip will have to be locked into one possition. But to tell someone they cant be treated because they are over weight is total b0ll0x.

Its just been anounced on the news that Fat people (obease) can not get a hip replacement unless they loose weight. what is this country coming to? Maybe fat people should be exempt from paying national insurance then? And you think this forum is going down hill. Some people are fat because they cant get out and about and exercise because they need a hip replacement. :headvswal :headvswal

Sometimes a pointless exercises can lead to a fruitful outcome. SURELY if only 3 people out of us all had been in the forces then you might have thought that people had been ignoring you.
