  1. the worst ive owned would be my 89 1300cc civic auto it had no guts at all, kickdown would just make more noise and not actually translate to any forward movement at all and because i had some old lowering springs kicking about i slammed it to the floor meaning it couldnt do speed bumps, curbs, potholes, any stones of any size in fact i rekon if you'd have put a digestive face down in the road id have been able to tell you weather it was a plain or chokky lol On the other hand a freind of mine has a 56 c4 hdi hatchback and it is awful its got 70k on the clock and heres a list of faults off the top of my head; door seals are dead so doors are full of water boot unlocks and opens every time you unlock the centeral locking paint is flat heated wing mirrors packed up blower doesnt work in positions 1,2,3 it only works in 4 so you get full power or nothing cel is on because of particulate filter malfunction if you wind down the rear windows the centeral locking goes mental (opening the boot) door handles stick open stopping the door from closing if you plug a satnav into the lighter socket all the brake lights blow rear bushes are knackered im sure theres more but i cant remember all of it, honestly it gotta be one of the worst cars ive ever known
  2. yea to be fair it is silly money if anything major goes pop but its got a years extendable warrenty on it so repairs shouldnt be too painfull in fact 3 months in i just took it down to QST and guess what?? drc is weaping and 2 knackered bushes grand total £1400 plus vat.... £500 on a warrenty wasnt such a bad idea lol, I was looking at a gtr or an evo but they just dont have the practicality or the comfort of the 6 although a well tuned gtr is a weapon on the road and will leave mine in the dust!!
  3. wish id seen this thread earlyer just made and demolished a cracking sarnie using turkey, sausage meat, stuffing, jarlsburg cheese, mayo and hot pepper sauce
  4. oh for crying out loud i litteraly threw away all the new belts today as i didnt think id need them lol
  5. i may well look at a remap at some point as theres a few knocking about with simple mods pushing up to 570bhp and 700nm-800nm of torque!! although im not sure how long the gearbox will last with that much torque, ill have a look im on rs246 at the moment but its nowere near as good as here people seem to spend longer correcting your spelling than actually answering your questions lol
  6. i may pop down to this although it wont be in a zed unfortunatly
  7. It really is i had to drive it back from huddersfield when i bought it and it breezed it even managing an average of 30mpg on the way home lol
  8. Cheers mate ive never really been that keen on the german stuff but im starting to see why people love them so much!!
  9. That's sounds mental! Weres my 10mm spanner lol
  10. I'd loved to have kept the zed aswell I'd have most probably bought a derv audi estate but I just don't have the room and I think she'd have had my guts for garters lol Ahhh a bike man my mates dad's just bought a new ducatti it looks amazing and goes like hell!!! He actually bought it from brands hatch its been on display in the kentagon for the last few years so it's mint
  11. Sambo, I know what you mean in the zed did have a charisma about it and to the untrained eye the 6 just looks like any other german rep mobile but hey at least the thieves won't be after it lol
  12. Sir charles, Tell me about it, I never even considered german I was looking at foresters and the skyline estates but the interiors aren't great, to be honest the costs are a bit outlandish but to be fair the last time my zed went in for a cambelt change the bill came to £1700 because of all the broken bits found along the way lol
  13. I was actually looking at your car when it was for sale and it was one of the things that got me looking into the 6 I think I may have even asked you some questions about it lol
  14. Well a few months ago I sold the zed to buy something more practical unfortunately ( for the bank balance) I stumbled across the rs6 which seemed to tick all the boxes, fast, reliable, awd, practical and comfortable so I took the plunge a few weeks ago and having only owned jap cars since the tender age of 16 I'm quite impressed by the big german brute. It's no zed it doesn't have the ability to turn heads like the zed, it doesn't have the sexy curb appeal of the zed did and the bills for repairs on the big 6 are frightening (£1000 just for a set of brake disc's, you could buy a tatty zed for that!!!) but hey you only live once. Anyway I hope I don't get to much stick for going over to the dub side but here's some piccys it does need a wash but it's been raining for a fortnight so I haven't bothered lol
  15. Monday Thursday Friday for me :( that's bad enough I feel for u mate
  16. id say weight is a big factor as they do weigh roughly the same as a small planet and most of it is hanging over the front wheels, having said that ive always thought they handle fairly well for an older car
  17. if i were you id just do the solid state relay if the alarm is putting out 11 volts the relay only draws about 150ma-8ma (depending on what relay you buy) which even at 7 volts would be next to nothing, im not 100% sure on how the alarms internals work but im pretty sure a 150ma draw wont kill it if you already had a mechanical relay wired up and it didnt go pop as they draw a shed load more current than that!!
  18. you could try a solid state relay they take very little current and are super reliable. But they cant really switch big currents but i guess you could use the solid state relay to switch a bigger relay if you know what i mean
  19. As above I've got a few friends with evos and stock v stock I'd say the zed is a quicker car it comes on boost much sooner and has more torque over more of the rev range, in an evo nothing happens until 4k rpm then it goes mental which is fun at first but less drivable in the real world as your forever changing gear to get it on the power, as for the slk I'd say with a good launch you should leave him especially after 2nd gear
  20. ahh i dont know its a pretty uplifting trade to get into
  21. ive also been considering this for a while but in my line of work just getting the jobs is hard enough, tendering, pricing and how to approach clients is over my head at the moment as my office keeps their methods well under raps for fear of people like me taking business off of them. ill just have to wangle my way into sales for a year to "scope it out" lol
  22. i sold my zed months ago and bought an rs6, im still here i joined up to rs246 and it dont hold a candle to this place you only get about 2 new topics a day on there!!
  23. i had pop out cup holders mounted under the stereo in mine and im sure jeff posted a pic of a dehumidifier fitted as a factory option in a breaker he had in Mine had heated mirriors it was ukdm, they didnt have their own switch but would come on when you put on the windscreen blower or the heated rear screen i cant remember which
  24. have you checked all the earthing on main things like alternatior/engine block, ecu, battery, etc etc... its gotta be something common to all those things. i think the white powder is commonive had it on my cars just a dab of grease will stop it happening
