I got a slight squeal from my belt until i recently changed the water pump. now its silent and ive not changed the belt. Not the easiest and quickest of jobs to do but might be worth considering when all else fails.

He will have to remove everything from the front (radiator, fan, boost hoses etc) so he'll have enough room to work in. Only thing that tripped us up was the tensioner. DO NOT wind it back using the bolt use a C clamp and use the bolt to hold it in position. May also wanna change the thermostat, idlers and possibly the front crank seal whilst your there. Also if your thinking of replacing the heavy front pulley for a lightened UD one then now would also be a good time to upgrade. Hope this helps bud Pete

I know what you mean. I think I quite like it, but would like to see one in the flesh.

I gave up 3 years ago now. I used the patches for the first 3 or 4 weeks whilst I got out of the habit of having a fag after food, with a brew etc. Did help but it is will power that will overcome it in the end. Keep at it bud, it does get easier.

This is a guess mate but you could have a boost leak or a faulty MAF (Air Flow Sensor). This is a guess tho!
