  1. OK, Its much better... much much better. The idle is not going up and down and its not cutting out. Idle is good. The problem I have and also originally had was if I turn the car, lets say to pull into my drive. I drive on the road as normal slow down and start to turn. She cuts out. She did this before any ideas - also have nearly a full tank of petrol. She does also when I increase - push down on the throttle she drops to 500 or below on revs but pulls up again, I found if I do it gently she seems OK - any ideas?
  2. Groover, i know where to adjust it, but what do I do. As it dies. Do I undo the screw or screw it in?
  3. Hi guys, ideas appreciated if any. as title reads really. Car starts - revs - fluctuate a little - then dies. It was better before I change the idle control valve. At least it stayed going. Dave
  4. Hi Guys, I have been checking my spark plugs today and coil packs. I managed to do 4 only I only cleaned them - might get round to doing the other 2 tomorrow. On 1 spark plug - on the rim - not on thread or on the spark part that is deep into the engine I found oil.. or I believe it is very stick stuff not like normal oil lose. Is that a concern? Also on the coil packs when taken out I looked down them I noticed some had springs and some did not? Why is this? Hopefully my idle control valve will be here tomoz.
  5. Hi Guys, Any of you know if there is a garage that knows about these cars in the Maidstone area. I have a garage that I use and they are good but I am not sure they know these cars. I am waiting till Tuesday for an Idle control valve that I will fit but if that does not sort it I need a garage to take a look. Cheers
  6. Plenty of plans but first, trying to sort out erratic idle.
  7. I found this video on youtube. This is exactly what is happening. As it is a sunny day at the moment I will check my connectors on the MAF. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FD4B4-pVZUY&feature=related
  8. Gio Thanks. Ill have a look at the manual. No I do not have an induction kit. Just standard filter.
  9. Went to Halfords and purchased some instant gasket. Didnt think it could hurt. Got some break cleaner and I also purchased a cheap rota craft cost £14.00 which I used to clean all the connections as they were green. Did a really good job of those. put all back on and No difference! So will try again on Tuesday if the part turns up.
  10. Update, Ive got it off. On the instruction I cannot see how you get at the inside of the solenoid to clean it to check on the spring etc - The one in the picture is all in pieces. Also the gasket for the air regulator is damaged now. Also the spring does not appear strong enough to close the plastic cover to cover the hole. Its remains partly open. Well, can really do much now as gasket knackered. Hopefully the part will turn up on Tuesday.
  11. Slight Update Im trying to remove the idle control valve - got the screws/bolts out x 4. removed one pipe now trying to remove the other pipe, blooming awkward, and theres a bracket from a pipe that one of the screws go through, would be easy if that was not there
  12. Ive ordered a used idle control valve from zworld - should be here Tuesday
  13. Thanks for the link. I might attempt to clean it. To be honest I don't know much about engines but I know where the valve is located. Its a bit awkward. Ive printed the info out so may just give to garage. Ill see if I feel brave. Thanks for the replies and help - appreciated
  14. What is IACV as Groover has said this needs checking as clogged possibly.
  15. Right I will order a idle control valve. Do you know if its available New? Thanks for the replies. Ill check the rest in the morning. Many thanks
  16. OK so lets update. Car went to garage had reconditioned gearbox fitted. I've had the throttle bodies cleaned Ive had the connector to the idle control valve changed over to spade connectors as mine was very green indeed.. It still tries to stall sometime not as much as it did originally. - Before I could not even drive the car down the road so there is massive improvement. I can at least take her out. Took here on a 20 mile trip. Stalled once when breaking gently behind cars at lights. Then going about 45 - 50 mph just cut out. Bit blooming dodgy in the wet. Pulled over - put her in P and started again. Now I do get the POWER light come on. it comes on and stays on for a good 10 seconds or so. Then goes out. It seems to come on at high revs. So any one have any clues. I am not blaming the garage they have done lots of work on other cars for me and are great. Lets face it the car is 20 odd years old. Pulled up at home put her in park and was idleing too high 1700 Any suggestions please Dave
  17. Great News. Allow wheel cleaner, would not of thought of that. Do you leave it in over night? I try that, but I will settle for the spade connectors for now.
  18. Yes even i agree. I might move that!
  19. Right spoke to Z world and very helpful. They said just use spade connectors - obviously connecting correctly to the right pins. So called garage they said they will solder new spades on at 5pm today. They wanted to do that.. but said did not want to in case I took it to another garage - could get confusing but they will colour code it. Hopefully that means on to a winner Dave
  20. OK guys, Got the car back and its almost perfect... They have cleaned the connectors as best as they could. I need a new connector really. The one for the idle. Its a white plug. So any ideas where to obtain. I did call MJP but he said they are hard to get hold of, he people are obtaining american looms and using the connectors that ways and modifying. Any help appreciated Dave
  21. Yes, Yes and Yes.... Phoned the garage yesterday and they said the z should be ready this morning. I've had a reconditioned gearbox fitted - They said it pulls great now. Ive had the main oil seal done and they say the stalling issue has been sorted out. So cant wait to get to garage at 9am this morning. 1st time I can actually drive it. Cant wait very eager....ill try and get some pictures up soon. Its standard, 91 H import. 68,000 on the clock - body work - no rot. slight very small dink in centre of bonnet and drivers door has a scratch. That seems to be the worst on it cosmetically. regards Dave
  22. Hi Guys, Just want to say a big thank you for all the replies. Many thanks for recommending people, companies. I will write them all down and keep in a safe place. regards Dave
  23. Hi Guys, fingers crossed my car is nearly ready. I had a stalling issue previously. I had tried a few things myself and failed so it went to the garage. Then found out gearbox was not great auto. So replaced with a reconditioned unit and has plenty of power now. Hopefully I can enjoy her over the weekend. Now to my original question, Are parts available for these vehicles New? Or is it always at the breakers yard and Ebay. Mine is an import. Do america make new parts for these as there car scene is much bigger than ours. I know service parts are available but say you want an Idle control valve... Can you get them new? I don't need them yet. What about a complete wiring loom. regards Dave
