My s14a build thread any interest??
Some more tasty parts!! Apex s13 58mm alloy rad. The RB rad sits to tall in the engine bay and you have to modify the boonet to make it fit and as i had a carbon bonnet and didn't want to butcher it. So I went for the CA18DET type rad as both inlet and outlet channels are on the same side as the RB25DET but also its slightly shorter and thus fits nicely under the bonnet. Solid Diff mounts and Drift Work Poly bushes. God Speed Project front control arms & Walbor 255 fuel pump & FSi Fuel Pressure Regulator. God Speed Project traction, camber and tension rods. More Drift Work bushes and God Speed Project rear control arms.

My s14a build thread any interest??
I gave the engine bay a fews coats of Por 15 as s14's do like a bit of rust! Right it was time to drop the RB in and hope my custom mount kit all fits as most RB conversions in the UK are done with the R33 front cross member and R33 engine mounts but this kit is supposed to allow the RB to sit lower and a little bit further back in the chassis and I also had a nice set of s14 Nismo engine mounts which I wanted to use in the build. Easy does it, with a little help from Jay20 off SXOC! The brackets line up 100%!!! Gear box bracket lined up aswell. Done!

My s14a build thread any interest??
Ever since seeing these on single turbo converted GTR's I always wanted one, I think they look the nuts. Now the Greddy pipe is rare and expensive so I started looking around for a cheaper option. So I bought the ally twin pipe from Ebay and was for a VW Corrado?? And the twin Apexi kit is from an RX7, which i had to chop up a little to make it all fit. Well thats what thought any way.... With the afm bolted on as well it pushed the induction pipe length to far out of the engine bay and also the afm was to close the turbo so I am going to have to put the afm behind one the apexi's but then this pushes it to far right into the arch..... So I have left this little problem for now and I will just bolt on a single induction pipe in the mean time. (The only easy solution is lose the afm and go for a G Link or Apexi D Jetro ecu)

My s14a build thread any interest??
Cheers mate. When I had the SR20det I ran a DB power big brake kit up front 315mm ebc's, with oem calipers and Red stuff pads and grooved ebay rear discs with Red stuff pads which was ok ish... but this was next on my upgrade list before she dropped her guts down the M1. I will be putting the z32 rear calipers and discs on later in the build and swap the s14 calipers with alli zed jobbies and a z32 bmc with braided lines all round. Long term though I would like to go Alcon or AP but thats some way off at the moment!

My s14a build thread any interest??
With this style manifold the top mount pipe is going to be very far back in the engine bay and with my custom downpipe it was definately gonna be a tight fit as the ABS on the s14 is on top right hand side in the engine bay, Shame they didn't stick it in the boot like on the Zed! Now before the engine was dumped in I thought I should try and sort the snapped stud out When I was drilling it out I went in a little to much and drilled right through and hit the cooling channel behind the stud oops.... I cleaned out the hole and filled it with water to see If i had punctured the cooling channel. Luck was on my side for once and the water didn't drip through. I fiiled the hole full of high temp mastic just to be on the safe side. Now this being my first "retap" I ended up puting an m12 thread in as my m10 thread effort just didnt tighten up enough to hold the stud. This again will lead to more problems down the line......

My s14a build thread any interest??
Right when looking for good power from the RB25det the first thing to do stick a nice thick metal head gasket in! I went for a MLS Cometic 1.3mm jobbie. Whilst the engine was out I bolted on the XTD clutch & fly wheel. As usual when you think everything is running smoothly my mate over torqued stud number 12 when bolting up the manifold with a nice new gasket and snap!!! So to chear my self up I ditched the STD manifold and sold my TD06 SL20 tubby and bought my self this liitle fella! A Greddy Trust T67 good enough for 550+bhp with a Trust 46mm external wastegate I bought the whole turbo kit off a smashed up MR2 turbo. Which I was well chuffed with until i relalised that Greddy turbo's T67 flange limited me to manifolds for the RB! The Greddy manifold was over £1500 which was alittle steep so I managed to find this after seeking advice from Skyline owners club. Its an OBX "Greddy copy" from USA (made in tawain) with the all important T67 flange and 4 bolt waste gate flange. Most of the RB manifolds have the T3 and Tial flanges. Bolted it all up to check the fitting and then realised more problems!!!

Cheers Lee, would recommend it to any one else needing some trackday experiance before taking their zed out for a run. Does the club organise track day meets?

Muscle Car Track Day
Did my first track day for a while at the Goodwood circuit yesterday afternoon. Had the Mithril Racing Muscle car pacakge as a birthday present which included 3 muscle cars with a total displacement of 18.3 litres:drool: I dove the orginal Dodge Viper, Mustang GT (2006 model) & a C5 Corvette. The Corvette was easy to drive especially with the heads up display. The Mustang was ok a little slow but fun none the less. But the Viper is a beast, with 8 litres of v10 truck (lambo tuned) engine and 335 rear tyres + a little drizzle made this the most memorable drive of the three. Took a few pics of some of the other motors you can drive. Well worth it and would like to tackle the Goodwood circuit without the instructor in my s14a & z32 next year!

My s14a build thread any interest??
Cheers matey! Lets hope the fly wheel is ok, but wont find out for a while! The SR20DET is highly tuneable and 400bhp can be achieved with relative ease. The problem being is the gear box which is only good for 350 bhp and do not last long when driven hard around this power band. So you either go down the os giken route or put ab RB25det gear box with the bellhousing conversion plate niether a cheap option which lead me to doing the RB conversion on the s14a.

My s14a build thread any interest??
The "newish RB" It is a series 2 RB25det with 56k on the clock just had the belts chaned and a new water pump before the big old r33 oversteered into a tree..... Got it for £880 with all the pumps, manifold & turbo etc so things are looking good so far! Just got the gaskets from OZ!! MLS 1.3 cometic Head gasket, inlet manifold gasket, throttle body gaskets & manifold gaskets!!! Just had some new bits delivered and dug some others out of the garage. All to be chucked onto the RB25det over the coming months! A Greddy style intake plenum XTD Stage 3 Clutch & Light Weight Flywheel Jap Speed Oil Cooler Zero Lab RB Engine Mount Kit (imported from USA, it allows you to use the oem s14a front subframe & oem engine mounts)

My s14a build thread any interest??
Right I thought I should document this conversion as it really was'nt the route for big power (400+) that I was originally going to take. On the way to the Fast Show on the M1 back in March, my stage 3a sr20det was going nicely but then it started mis firing like a bitch??? On further investigation the timing chain had slipped a couple of teeth..... I was going down the road of a full SR rebuild but i did'nt have the cash to do it properley in one go! ( DB power stage 3 full rebuld £3k, + rb25 gearbox conversion, fly wheel and clutch £1.2k) So over £4000 which didn't include turbon and injectors. So I decided to go down the RB25DET route as a good friend of my mine had also lobbed an RB25 into his s14a with pretty good results I was looking at 430ish bhp from this conversion to get the s14a back up and runnning, but hopefully 500 bhp with a top mount turbo and wastegate??? My s14a before she sh*t her pants!!! My poor old SR20DET! My old pre stripped engine bay.

My s14a build thread any interest??
I have just started up my s14a rebuild project which had really stalled last year due to cash, kids, wife & job etc (not in that order though!!) It was originally posted on SXOC but they have closed the thread as I am no longer a member?? So I thought of posting it on here with all new pics etc as alot of the stages, processes techniques should interest z32 owners (hopefully)
