  1. hi i've been having no end of problem with my blower motor not running. i've changed the relay and the amp but none of these seemed to have made a change to the situation. i tested the motor in the past wired directly to the a battery and it worked fine. i can only assume that there is either a positive or negative power supply issue. i have to make a temporary fix till the weather changes, just in case i have to make an emergency trip anywhere. I have read that the power can be by-passed and a switch can be put in place, can anyone sketch me a quick diagram outlining where the wires are to go on the plug going to the motor and which ones they are. i may find that there is a loose negative somewhere and only have to re-make that one but just in case i have to do the lot i need to know which wire goes where. The rest of the system works and i can hear the vents and servos working when selections are made. This is for the auto climate control system and not the manual type on a 91 N/A 300zx. Thanks in advance for any help. :confused1:
  2. Send me an e-mail with your address : christopher.ottey@gmail.com We can then sort out a plan. We often travel from Kings lynn to Swindon via Northampton so it's no biggie for me to drop by. Chris
  3. i have to put a scissor jack under the car first to lift it to the height that a trolley jack can get under it. There is a 3 inch clearance between the lowest part of my exhaust system and the road surface 5 inches between the road and the sill without looking under the car, so to speak. Hope that helps for a quick guide. This week ,I'm having the tyres replaced with some 45's instead of 40's that i now have in use. Talk about rattles and squeeks I've had this car since end Feb and i have taken care of five seriously annoying squeeks from rubber on plastic Contact and at least 21 rattles including, just today, the rear washer motor harness has a plug for the tail fin brake light i had mine removed but the plug was left cable tied to the harness which was knocking on the boot lid trim......only while the boot was closed.....took me ages to locate. The windows we won't even mention as the doors sound like a bag of bolts with the windows wound down partway, they must be fully open or closed , no grey area. The only time i get a chilled cruise is when i'm by myself. My Z dislikes anyone but me in it ( That's how it feels anyway ) Thanks for the replies:flowers:
  4. I have HSK adjustable shock absorbers and find them a very hard ride. it has been suggested that i replace these with the originals to soften the ride. The current ones could be adjusted to soften the ride a little but not a lot. Does it make sense to do the swap ? If so what is a decent price range for the originals...........or has anyone got a set that they have knocking about. I will be putting the HSK set up for sale after the change over. I've also been told that the originals are a bit taller, is this true? The ride with the current ones is great on flat roads and corners/roundabouts are a pleasure. The local back roads are a nightmare for bumps , lumps and potholes and i have to use them frequently. Going a smoother route can add over a mile or two to the journey, which is quite crap when you just want to run to the corner shop. I also feel like i'm downgrading....going against the current so to speak. It's fine when i'm by myself as i'm used to the rigid ride but my wife and kids are winging...... I think it would probably be easier to contemplate replacing them, but will never openly admit it. HE! HE! Anyway, i just thought i'd ask the question an see what you guys think........THIS IS NOT A VOTE TO REPLACE THE KIDS OR NOT i know some of you guys have more or less already done this .......i might even have read somewhere that some one has even had THE SNIP......jammy sod !!! bit extreme though.........i think. :whistling:
  5. RIP Norman, i used to love his films..
  6. Hi Gibster-TT I just had a look at your car................i can see why you are thinking of calling it a day as you have more or less overindulged in the modding of your car. As great as it looks, it represents a lot if time spent working on it and you are now starting to think of the time it will take to complete................. You are living the dream of many Zed owner. Space , time , funding and the ability to understand instruction......not only that but the nerve to make big changes. I suspect that part of you is thinking what will happen when you actually complete it and what will you apply yourself to then? You seem to be a natural achiever of goals and ( IMO ) it would almost be going against your grain, to not complete the job.....You even painted the gearbox....c'mon. Stick to it mate. The experience and knowledge you will have gained to pass on to the rest of us NEWBIES will be so valuable and your car will be like a certificate of all you know. You may even be able to give a lecture at Zedaholics about the repercussions of overindulgence and knowing when to stop. The other side of this is Think of the ride ..........I'd love to own your car when it's finished. Mind you, if you really sick of the whole she-bang you should just donate the whole lot to me ( i'm not too proud ) and rest assured that you have done a great thing for a fellow human being ..............then you can help me finish it ...HE! HE! Naaaa! stick to it mate, you've come a long way, wish i lived in your neck of the woods i'd sure help give you the encouragement you need.
  7. Welcome to the club mate, you will not regret your decision to get a Zed. This is the best place for advice and being pointed in the right direction. best of luck to you Chris
  8. OK, how about a longitude and latitude then cuz Derby is a big place!
  9. JeffTT E-mail me with payment details through paypal if you want, for that price i'ts worth me having it as a spare christopher.ottey@gmail.com
  10. Yes i agree, but i thought someone else might've read it and had something constructive to offer.......you did,........ but you didn't Naaaa, i just didn't read the date or anything just saw, read it, replied.... Thanks for making me feel like a donkey though( there's always one ) I would totally make my day if he has got some more pictures....in HD ( an i'd be like " In your Face Slick Pete, What ya got to say now ? ..... an stuff! ) Anyway..... I pulled the amp out and took it apart to find it was perfect inside, no broken contacts or signs of burned out terminals etc so that's sorted, i'm gonna run that through with a tester and cancel that out of the equation, Then I'm onto the relay, which i'm looking for a replacement ( anything to advise there " MISTER " Slick? )
  11. Hi have you got any better pics as i'm having the same problem as you and would like to sort it. Did you find out how much a replacement part costed?
  12. Not Much College Girls though..Running The Zed doesn't leave much money in the pocket to buy them the drinks!.. Now that is an " Inheritance " Good looking car shaggy, not my type of thing for the age i am now,but back in the day.....before the greys started showing......... Anyway You don't need money to buy drinks, what you need is a couple of cup holders and a thermos full of coffee.......an some banter.....you'll be alright ! .
  13. ps i'm in didcot so the other side of Oxford, but there is a free jar of this stuff waiting for you bud Nice one mate, i usually go from Oxford to Swindon so it's easy for me to drop by en-route i'll message you in advance. cheers
  14. I agree with both sides of the debate here. I think what we are missing is that a someone can tell if they are neglected on purpose or not. Sometimes you walk into a shop and the assistant is sooooooo bored that they sometimes " mung out " and you could be waving a white flag and couldn't get their attention. They are paid from the neck down and knew that when they took the job no matter what the rate is. These are not the rude type , just gormless......but harmless. Then you have the ones that have acknowledged that they see you but choose not to rush, these are often the better paid ones and are expected to use a bit of brain. They have done the job sooooo long and you are just another punter. The focus is getting through the day, you are a by-product of the banter they have at work....and boy do they like to let you know it. you can tell the difference between being served at Mc D****ds by a manager or by a trainee. OH! Yes ...there is attitude there also, as i found out not a week ago........ I've had
  15. Nice ZED mate, welcome to the club. Clear tail lights look great, and the elbow grease is showing, good colour but you'll spend equal amounts of time driving and cleaning. Happy motoring
  16. Yo Pablito I Used to live in Oxford, met my wife there. Used to live in Summertown, kidlington and out in Bicester. We visit a lot as we've still got friends in the area. I'll message you when we're dropping down. What was the name/type of the glue that you were advised to use on your upholstery. I'm planning on doing my own as i was quoted £1300 by my local for the complete job, which isn't bad but the money could be better spent elsewhere .
  17. Welcome shaggy, like you i had my z donated to me, it's a big thing for someone to do for you, not unlike passing on the ol little black book. The great part about it is you are young enough to enjoy it to the max, no kids, weekends away and a whole college full of girls to admire and want a spin. I'm jealous.............. Photo bucket is the best way to get your pics up, And everyone here likes to see em. Well done mate
  18. Welcome to the club mate. luvin' the car and the rims. Had to have my spoiler removed as i had the same problem. got my eye on a lovely one to replace it with though. The guys on this forum are great and many really know their stuff. This is the best place to find info on anything you plan to do with your car ......as i've found out, they are very " Hands On " Happy motoring and good luck PS They are a pleasure to drive aint they !
  19. Yo Alanz Lovin' what you've done with your Z. You have a lot to be proud of. Maybe one day i'll get mine to the level of some of you guys. love the crazy boomers in the back ( and the lighting ) even though you'll probably get chastised by the hard and fast " Keep It Original " Club. So 10/10 for keepin' it real individual. whats the rest of the audio system like?
  20. Cheers Tudor i'll see if i can find some guidelines on how to do it , if not i'll get back to ya nice motor yerself, anywhere i see that colour now i'll be lookin to see if it's you, even if it aint a Z Take care
  21. cheers ck300
  22. Point taken ashleydc As i said, no disrespect to your own personal taste. Maybe i'm a little bit biased as i used to design and build recording studios, where sound quality and isolation is utmost. even my wife is sick of my repositioning speakers around the living room for the " perfect " surround sound. I get defensive sometimes when people mistake my view of " Quality Sound " with youngsters bursting your eardrums at the stoplights, or cars you can hear before and after they arrive. As i know nothing about mechanics, audio systems is all i know about and it gives me something to feel manly about like " strippin down a head ". What it boils down to is, are you happy with what you've got and nothing else. Funnily enough i rarely turn music on while i'm driving as i'm constantly listening to the engine for faults.............or how sweet it sounds. There are a few rare moments when the sun is out , the roof is off and your favourite singer/group is in the background ( no matter how they sound ) where you just feel like you're in the clouds......That's what it's all about.....i suppose.
  23. An MDF boot floor and an amp where the jack usually goes is not exactly standard. Sound systems don't have to be " BIG " for clarity. Speaker choice ( sometimes placement ) and correct installation will improve your in car sound a lot. You cannot hear much on the outside of my car , even at high volume, but i made sure that the " sweet spot " is exactly where it needs to be for both front seats. Not getting at your " standard " point but sometimes do we not have to make enhancements to the original to get better performance / service?...........dipped headlamps , exhausts, suspension ,re-upholstered seats etc My older brothers and i are always having this debate as they are VERY old school. No disrespect to them or yourself but if Nissan were to re-design this car do you not think that they would make improvements on the original?
