  1. What he said
  2. I know, the pea burn kinda topped it off lol! Thankfully its ok today and not sore! Cheers, hopefully this time next week I'll have my wonga back
  3. I was unaware of that. Planning on speaking to Trading Standards tomorrow, I've got a point by point list of the issues I plan to fax to them and hopefully get it resolved.
  4. I'm not expecting them to just hand my wedge back. Hate this situation
  5. Thought you were gonna say about half that! Guess as long as its not short journeys it'll be more reasonable? How's Zedward anyway? Done much recently? :o)
  6. That really is a freakin big truck! My god its huge!! I really fancy something big like this but it'd have to be LPG converted in order to be able to eat and clothe Tash lol
  7. cheers Ian, can I give you my wedge and you buy me a car please  I clearly can't be trusted much further than the toss pots at Cleveland Car Centre  Seriously, I'm too scared to buy another car as I really haven't stopped buying lemons since selling my lovely yellow beast
  8. Thanks again for the replies. The plan WAS to keep this one long term - it ticked all the boxes, was the spec I was looking for in a family car without being a bloody MPV, bodywork great, on test drive it seemed fine apart from the air con not working - really did think this one was a "keeper" after all the ones I'd tried and not liked since selling Zedward. And yes £1000 is a LOT of money to me. I'm a medical secretary, just about to leave my badly paid job and earn even less for the next 3 years training to be a nurse. As much as I want another Zed (LWB), what's a grand -£1500 gonna buy me apart from a whole other heap of trouble, unless by some miracle I get another amazing one like my old shorty. What I need is a car that is going to be a good, family car that will serve me for at least 3 years. I have a budget for wear and tear repairs, etc but intermittent engine issues and now gearbox issues from a car I just purchased, I just don't need the chew. And Gary you are right, I have no idea if this is going to be botched, whether the repairs will be guaranteed, and whether if they do say they've fixed it this time, if they'll try to wash their hands of it. So, my plan is to fax a full letter to Trading Standards on Monday, detailing EVERYTHING and asking for some urgent advice. Man, this really does suck. Had to borrow Marc's mum's car to do the grocery shop earlier and her bloody clutch is sh@gged so that was a stressful journey too!! Got some emergency chocolate tho hahahaha, I NEED it!! And wine. Oh and to top things off, I got the mushy peas out the microwave and they erupted in my face, so I've got a really nasty painful burn on my right eyebrow and lid. Pfft to everything!
  9. Not much I could do was there tho, not if I'm doing things by the book. I WILL resolve this, it just doesn't look like it'll be easy or quick :o(
  10. I took it back today. Drove down on my own this morning. The bloke initially said I should take it back on Monday and they'd look at it. I explained I wasn't prepared to drive the car in it's current state and that in fact I wanted my money back. His immediate response was no, I am not giving you a refund and he disputed that there was any fault with the car. He said that he had the car 2 days this week and drove it without fault. So I explained the fault was intermittent and that I was also now having problems getting the car into reverse and when I started it up this morning black smoke came out the back. He said again I was not entitled to a refund and I said that I had been in touch with Trading Standards already who had advised me that I was entitled to a full refund, as I had given the garage equal opportunities to correct the faults. I also explained that I was not in a position to be able to be without the car periodically whilst they tried to resolve the issues any further as it was a major inconvenience to me. So,after this discussion, he kept the car and said that he would take it in somewhere and if the fault could not be fixed I could be refunded. He said I could not have a refund there and then as he didn't have the cash and a cheque would need 2 signatories and his colleague is on holiday this week. So reluctantly, I have left the car there, and will await word on Monday. In the interim I will turn my list from my initial post, into a formal letter, to fax to local Trading Standards on Monday and CC it to the garage, with all the updated info from today's visit. Just so fed up with this :crying:
  11. We've been saying this for ages, I think they just make it up on the spot! Marc's 14 yrs younger than me, so he always put my insurance through the roof, until about 2 months ago, when suddenly its cheaper for him to be on my policy than not. WTF?!
  12. Happy birthday x
  13. Ps thanks everyone for your support. I'll be going down to the dealers this morning. I'm leaving Tash with Marc, and I won't be coming home until I have my money back. Its times like these I wish my dad didn't live the other end of the UK, I could do with his back up. Built like a brick sh1t house and doesn't take any crap from anyone lol. Still, I am a diplomat and a talker, so I shall just explain my rights and not move til its sorted :gunsmilie:
  14. I'll pay your petrol money from Donny, you free to help me out today :gun_bandana:
  15. Thanks all - and Dave, I have been on the Trading Standards website and I most definitely have a case here. I'm not one for losing my temper and shouting and screaming - its one of the reasons why Marc is staying home with Tash tho as he might well kick off. That and I don't want to drag my 5 year old there to have to all walk home as its a fair trek for her little legs. Really don't need this at the moment!
  16. Thanks Stu - I'll try the "please can I have my money back" approach to start with but feel sure I'm gonna get told to go forth and multiply. So plan B will most definitely be to make a pain in the arse of myself, and I'll make sure I go down with the number of the Evening Gazette and TFM radio number in my phone so if I get no joy, I'll call the local media. Apparently this business has been established for years - so they won't want a ruined reputation. Hopefully it won't come to that though, and I hope they will be reasonable, eventually. If I can't get the bloody thing off the drive tho I'm fooked!
  17. Have you tried swiftcover? They insure both our cars atm, always really cheap for us. And we've recently found that, weirdly, having Marc on my policy brings the quote down, so try that?
  18. Usual time and place, is anyone going to go? I can't say for sure, depends if I have a working car....
  19. Ian (Vodkashots) just rang and offered his service lol!
  20. Paid cash and I've been on that website today to fill in the complaints form Gonna take it back tomorrow, if I can get it off the driveway
  21. Thanks all, no warrantee as such but having looked at Trading Standards advice online, and given the car has had issues from the day we bought it, I think we should get our money back. Just not looking forward to it, its like bloody Phil and Grant Mitchell who run the place - when Marc suggested that just perhaps the car should have been sold fir for purpose, ie with the right amount and type of oil in it, the bloke got really abusive, told us that it was b0locks and bullsh1t. Had to get Marc in the car in the end to stop him squaring up to him - hence me taking the car off with the oil light on and then the engine management light coming on. Sod it I'm crying again. Its all so horrible, like having to go into the lions' den tomorrow. Bloody cars.
  22. Paid a grand for this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-Saab-9-5-Silver-/310304206544?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item483f926ed0#ht_1335wt_1139 a week ago - along with additional £40 to get air con regassed. This is the issues thus far: 1. Car test driven 27/06/11. £200 deposit taken to hold car. Climate control not working – agreed to pay £40 in addition to £1000 asking price to pay for air conditioning to be re-gassed. 2. Purchased 30/06/2011. On date of purchase air conditioning was still not functioning. Was advised by Darren that the air conditioning condenser needed replacing and that the garage would order the part and resolve this issue at no extra cost. 3. On date of purchase, after app. 5 miles of driving, oil warning light came on the dash and warning alarm sounded. We immediately returned the car to the dealer to ask them to resolve the problem. Darren test drove the car and then topped the car up with some oil. He said his colleague should have done this before the car was handed over. He did not have enough oil for the car and that we should go to buy some. When we asked whether this was appropriate given that we had just purchased the car, and suggested that in fact, it was the dealer’s responsibility to ensure the car was in a fit state to be taken away, he was rather rude and swore at us. After some discussion we took the car away without enough oil in it. At this time, the engine management light came on the dashboard, and we had to immediately return the car back to the garage. At this point Darren got back in the car and drove it away. He was gone for over 20 minutes. We were unaware of what was happening at this point. When he did return, it was in a different car, and our car was nowhere to be seen. He told us not to worry and that he had taken our car into a garage for a repair. At this point we had no means of transport to get home and collect our daughter from childcare. Darren then went to see someone who gave us a lift home. 4. On the afternoon of 01/07/11 we had a call to say the car was repaired and was “running perfectly”, and would be safe to drive to Staffordshire. 5. On 02/07/11 we drove to Staffordshire. The car developed the oil light problem and warning alarm on the journey there, and was problematic intermittently over the course of the weekend. I advised Darren at the dealership via text message on 03/07/11. 6. On 04/07/11 we received a text from Darren to say we could take the car back on 06/07/11 for further investigation 7. On 05/07/11 the car’s engine became much noisier and the warning light and alarm also came on again. Darren and his colleague agreed to collect the car for repair. I asked them to keep me informed as to what was happening. 8. On 06/07/11 Darren’s colleague arrived at our house with the car. He said that they had not found any fault with the car and no further repairs had been carried out. He did not mention at this point when the climate control on the car would be fixed. However on driving the car, the oil light and warning alarm fault is still apparent, intermittently. 9. On 07/07/11 the car’s engine is sounding “rough” and the oil light and warning alarm are still present. I have text and called the garage to advise them of this but have not had a response as yet. We have owned the car for a week and so far have been without the car for half of this time, and on the days when we have had the car, it has been driven with a fault. Are we within our rights to request a refund? We feel we have given adequate opportunity for the car’s faults to be rectified. This is without mentioning the time I've had to take off work to drop the car off, be home for them to collect it, as well as not having a working car for the week of ownership. http://www.pissedoff.com Actually cried this evening :crying: Oh and it DOESN'T have full main dealer, it hasn't been serviced in almost 3 years - my bad for not thoroughly checking everything fully Oh and tonight I went to take the car to Tesco, could not get it in reverse. It crunched and crunched but would not get in - so another major fault. At this rate I'm never ever buying another car
