I said that too, know a few coppers and police civilians, they're all sick of busting their balls and having the case thrown out by the CPS. Thanks re my car, like the lady in Trading Standards said, there's no fast fix for this now, so I gotta do this by the book. Hopefully the Saab dealers will at least be able to give me an idea of the extent of the problem, and the Trading Standards officer said she thought this was a really good idea. Will let you know Friday when they've looked at the car....

Not defending the police (god forbid) but happen to know that the police morale is at an all time low because despite a lot of their hard efforts catching the baddies, the effing CPS throw out most of the cases the police take to them. Tash's dad (my ex) is a police civilian and he collects and collates evidence for court and the CPS. He says that even when it appears to be an open and shut case with clear evidence, the CPS throw out the case. Must be VERy frustrating for the average copper. And thanks, I appreciate the support. I am just so sick of it all. I said to Marc earlier, I hate cars. I don't even enjoy driving at the moment. It used to be one of the things I lived for.... No-one likes being ripped off but there is nothing quite like having the image of some smarmy far tw@t salesman burned into my memory as he shrugged his shoulders, dismissed my concerns and said "see you in court" - soooooooooooo angry :censored::censored::censored:

Saab update, if you haven't all lost the will to live yet, like I have
The garage have refused me a refund! I asked for one in person, and they refused. I went to Trading Standards, who gave me a letter template to use, which I did, outlining my complaints, and asking for a refund. They wrote back refuting all my claims. They are now refusing to sort the issue of the knackered air con which they said they would fix prior to me even getting the car, and despite them telling me they have ordered the part, they have not responded to my question about when this will be done. So today I went in again, told them of my outstanding issues and asked for my money back, and was told to take them to court. Alex, if Tash hadn't been with me, I'd have jumped over the desk and kicked the smarmy c**t in the knackers. I'm sure its Kaza Steve on here who knows these toss pots and says his friends have given em a hiding in the past for their business dealings. Like you said Alex, what sort garage employs a security guard? Its not like they have a showroom of pristine, top of the range cars..... B0ll0cks

Saab update, if you haven't all lost the will to live yet, like I have
I get legal cover through my union, so I'll contact them. I've spoken to Trading Standards again and they have said they will now intervene on my behalf (although typically the lady who has taken on my case is on holiday now for 2 weeks). So the next step is for them to write to the garage on my behalf to try to resolve things. If that gets us nowhere, then Trading Standards appoint an independent assessor who inspects the car and gives a verdict, and then assuming the findings back up my claims, I then have to take them to court. Which of course will cost me money, which is why he's sitting back smugly telling me to take him to court, coz he thinks I won't because of the costs.....

Saab update, if you haven't all lost the will to live yet, like I have
After Mikey so kindly checked the car over this weekend, and found that it had no gearbox oil in it, (he added over a litre, the capacity is only 1.8l), the car has still been a mare getting it into reverse, and its also beginning to crunch a bit putting it into 1st and 2nd now. Took it back to the garage today. Accepted that they have fixed the oil problems and told them that we had an independent mechanic look it over and confirm the sump has been off and the work's been done. However I referred to the letter I sent him and his written response and how he hadn't actually replied to the issue of the crunching gears. He told me that he'd had the car back twice and "has never had any problems with it" and therefore refused to do anything else with the car (erm, hello, air con?!) I tried to ask him if he thought I was making this up and did he not think I have anything better to do with my time than take days off work and drag my 5 year old daughter to garages with me, but he just kept talking over the top of me until in the end I lost my rag and banged my fist on his desk and shouted "Will you JUST LET ME FINISH?!" - at which point he just said "well you've just blown your case now haven't you?" and smiled smugly at me. Had to leave coz I was so close to properly blowing my stack (it doesn't happen often but f**k me when I lose it I REALLY lose it), so Marc tried to negotiate with him and say do you really not want to try to resolve this with is and he just saying "take us to court". Still shaking with anger. I'm not a violent person but if Tash hadn't been there my god I'd have wiped that smug look off his ugly, scarred fat head. No wonder this garage employ a security guard. Sooo, took it straight to the Saab garage, and have booked it in for a "health check" on Friday. I spoke to them at length about the issues and they said they are happy to give the car a thorough once over, and most importantly, give me an opinion on the gear box. By the way, I told the idiot I got the car from about Mikey finding no oil in the gear box. He said it wouldn't affect the car going into gear as its synchro driven. Relayed this to the man at Saab who said, "why on earth does he think we put oil in the gear box then?!". Can I get a "FFS" please? Oh, and we might be moving house in a few weeks, just in case we don't have enough stress.....

To be honest I think it is for a LOT of couples. Most of my female mates seem to spend 90% of their couple time avoiding sex than just getting down and enjoying it!

Joking aside tho Rob, it is a big issue in a relationship - and presumably you do really want your missus to on the same page as you. Hence the suggestion re couples counselling. With a counsellor there you won't be allowed to deteriorate into an argument, its all done constructively. Even if you could get her to see that its important to you, hence it should be a bit higher on her list of priorities, you could take it from there...

Thank you Mikey Bean
Well he stuck it up on the ramps and gave it a really thorough going over. For one thing it didn't appear to have any oil in the gear box - he stuck a litre in it and we still don't think that was its capacity. He also noticed the steering fluid was way over filled, so he took some out of that - but we're not even sure it has the right fluid in it (Mikey did you manage to find out, I forgot to ask you?) The oil lights have not come on once, so I think the garage must have actually fixed it the third time round, thank feck. Its still at bit if a beeatch to get into reverse, possibly more oil? The gear changes definitely were much smoother and to be fair the car didn't miss a beat on the way home. Sooooo, I now need to see if the garage will fix the climate control like they said they would, and then drive the car and *hope* it is all good..... Was a good day out anyway, nice to meet everyone and get out of town for a few hours. Managed to sneak in a cheeky trip to the carvery on the way home too, nom nom nom :w00t:
