Saab's verdict on my car....
Thing is Richard, I cannot afford to lose a grand on a car that I was banking on reliably seeing me through my nursing - so I have no option but to do exactly that and sue them. Trading Standards have suggested the following course of action: They intervene on my behalf and contact the traders and ask them to refund us or repair the car (ALL the issues!) - failing that then we get the independent mechanic to do the full inspection (about £100, which I'm happy to pay), and then use that as evidence to take to the small claims court. At the end of the day, the goods fall short of Sale of Good Act, in that they're not fit for the purpose for which they were sold, and they also falsely advertised the car (we have hard copies of the advert form eBay) which stated that the car had full main dealer service history - it most certainly does not! And they've breached their contract because they assured me that they were ordering the condenser for the climate control and would fit it within a week of purchase of the car - they have fobbed me off on this from the outset and refused to answer on direct questioning, when this would be fitted. They even put in written response to my letter to them, that they had ordered it - so where the fook is it?! Question is, do I keep driving the car, and have to ram it into gear to get it moving, causing more damage, or do I SORN it this week and at least get 5 months tax back and insure it 3rd party to keep my costs down. And walk everywhere. Not what I had planned for the summer hols. Also need to sell Marc's MR2. We had planned to go down to one car, looks like the contingency plan will be to sell his, get another family car that's actually running well, til my mess is sorted......PFFT!

Saab's verdict on my car....
Saab have looked at it and have found a whole heap of stuff wrong with it, and say the engine oil is low and has a leak - this despite the garage saying they have fixed this and saying that WE caused the fault by putting TOO MUCH oil in the car! They also note reverse gear is totally worn, the 5th gear selector sticks, the engine over revs when changing down and the clutch biting point is too high. They have just done a simple check, there's no point in paying them to investigate further at the moment because I have to use a Trading Standards appointed independent mechanic to give the car a full check over. At the moment, I am going to have to SORN the car and stop using it as, for one thing, I'm struggling to get it into gear now. But also the advice of trading standards is not to use it. The car has a brand new MOT (I've have the car 3 weeks now, had problems with it since day 1) and its got corroded rear brake pipes (? MOT?). I haven't asked a for a price for the repairs, but the repair bill looks like amounting to what I paid for the car. The garage man said he didn't think it would be worth repairing anyway. Might as well have set fire to tenners! So lots to report back to Trading Standards and the next step is that they contact the garage to try to get them to rectify the issues. If not then I think its independent mechanic and then court :o( So, I'm over a grand down, have a car I can't drive and am 8 weeks away from a Uni course where I am soon to be sent off on placements across Teesside! Marc will also be back at Uni come end of August on placement. The plan was to go down to one big family car between us, and whoever is on placement uses the car.... Lets hope I don't get a placement in Bishop Auckland or I'm totally buggered

Saab update, if you haven't all lost the will to live yet, like I have
I've explained the situation to the Saab dealer and they also know the garage I got my car from as they get a lot of cars from the main dealer - all they are doing is checking out the gearbox and giving it a quick once over abd running the diagnostics. Man, I could say that about ANY trader/mechanic/sales service, aren't they all in it for profit?!
