From the DVLA website "When to apply If your tax is due to run out at the end of the month, you can renew it from the fifth day of the month. If your vehicle has been untaxed, because you’ve just bought it, the tax disc has run out or a SORN is in force, you can tax from the first day of the month in which you apply. If you want the tax disc to start on the first day of the next calendar month, you cannot tax your vehicle more than two days in advance." I can tax it tomorrow or Fri as Sat is 1st Oct....

Its sorted now thanks Pete, we didn't trade with the original garage as their stock was limited and expensive and wanted us to give them more money, and quite frankly I'd rather set fire to tenners than give them any of our cash! Def not taking the legal action now, got enough on our plates being students and parents etc! Soooooo, why is you sellin up?!

The Saab has gone, we now have a Vauxhall Omega. Haven't driven it too much as its currently SORN and I don't wanna tax it til Oct (how early can I do this?) Its ok, hard to get excited about such cars. Just hoping its more reliable than Saabster. Mikey Bean advised me re the Omega as he's had several, so fingers crossed... J PS - I'm finally a student nurse, woohoo!

My daughter goes to her dad's at 11, so I need to be at home til then, soz....
