  1. GOOD NEWS!! Starter motor replaced with only minimal swearing! :D Sounds alot better starting now, no horrid grinding noise. Unfortunately after assessing the position of the alternator i decided against trying to change it myself lol :p Plus my neighbour decided to wash his car so i had to lie in a puddle of water for 2 hours haha
  2. Excelent! Well, its off to buy a belt, then its time to start. Hopfully all goes well. I'll be back if i hit a problem :p
  3. ahhh yea, i didnt think of that, the alternator belt is the last behind a series of aux belts. None of them need to be in a certain possition like the cam belt does though do they, so i dont suppose it will hurt to undo them all haha
  4. I'm going to be changing my alternator and starter motor today as they are both playing up, as well as a couple of other little bits. Just want to check a couple of things first. When changing the starter motor, is it as easy as unbolting the old one and bolting on the new?? Do i need to grease the new one first? And do i need to drain the oil?? Basics i know, but I've never changed a starter before, so worth asking IMO. Also, does anyone know the size, or better yet part number, for the alternator belt? Worth renewing that while i change the alternator i think. Lastly, anyone in my area fancy getting dirt under their fingernails? :p I don't really need help, but the extra hands are always good, plus a bit of company would be nice too :p
  5. Feel free to come work on my cars! I need one fixed to sell (which i MOT'd then left sat on the drive for 4 months) and a half dead Zed lmao
  6. Its TT. I've not got the plenum off yet, but i have another plenum to go on which i've painted red, so i'm going to use that guide you linked to remove the water pipes from that before i remove the old plenum :)
  7. thanks for the link, very helpfull :) but i would still appreciate some help. I am very unfamiliar with the engine and while i have decent mechanical skill, i wouldnt like to tackle such a big job on my own. Also it gets very lonely working on a car on your own, so the company would be nice too :p :p
  8. Anybody done a plenum water bypass before and fancy helping me with mine?? I have water leaking right onto No3 coilpack and shorting it out causing a missfire, and its really pissing me off now haha. Theres a bacon sarny and as much tea as you can drink in it for anyone willing to help :p
  9. I hope you dont think i dont trust what your saying mate. I was just loooking for confirmation, but it looks like you asked before i did :) I'll PM ya, but concider them sold buddy :)
  10. I need to replace my alternator and starter motor as they have both started to play up. Gonzo12c has both for sale in the for sale thread but they are from an Auto. My Question is, will they both fit and work with my UK manual? This is what he said when i asked, but i just want to double check before i part with my money :p Any help would be much appreciated :)
  11. I've seen this same problem before. you should be able to use your restore discs to restore the computer to a previous date, i.e when it was working. It wont wipe any data doing this, just change any settings you may have ajusted after the date you select. If the restore discs dont give you this option, they wont start 'resetting' the computer with you telling it to, so would be safe to put them in to check. If you still need help by the weekend, i'd be happy to come over to Zedworld saturday and have a look at if for you. I trained as a computer technician for 2 years so i know a fair amount (well, as much as i can remember, it was 3 years ago now)
  12. Not going to be able to make it :( I'm running on my space saver and dont have money for a new tyre :( Going to refurbish my standard wheels and get a full set of tyres so i'll be skintypoo's for a while too :(
  13. When and where Lee? Details man, Details!!!! :p
  14. You have no clutch :p The clutch pedel goes straight to the floor. i had no warning signs at all, just all of a sudden, one day, went to change gears and snap, pedel went straight to the floor
  15. Went to the garage today, its was, as i suspected, the clutch fork had snapped again. Good news is they are doing all the work under warrenty, including parts and ladour. Which is a great weight off my mind. What would cause a brand new Genuine Nissan clutch fork to snap only 4 months after being fit???? any idea's? If anybody has any thoughts, i could take them to the garage and have them check. They cant think why it would have snapped so soon.
  16. I want to refurbish my standard alloys, but they still have the tyres on, how would i go about removing them? Not worried about damaging the tyres, they're all bald anyway :p
  17. i'm hoping they dont try and screw me over and tell me its something else like the hydrolics, which i know its not. I'm worried they try and worm there way out of doing the job under warrenty
  18. Not sure yet, they said they wouldnt be able to look at it untill monday :(
  19. Right, so i bought my car in august and after having it a week the clutch selecter fork (??) broke. I had that changed along with a new clutch at a cost or around £500. Now the same fault i had before has returned. I'm guessing it will be the selecter fork again and not the clutch itself. i've taken it back to the garage i had the work done, should be under warrenty. Definatly not happy. Even thought of selling up and cutting my losses :( Loosing faith in it, may have bitten off more than i can chew with this one, she does need a fair amount of work :(
  20. I cant make 21st :( Wont have any money untill 25th :(
  21. I'll definatly be there! Even if i have to put tracks and a plow on the Zed!! :p
  22. McDonalds carpark for handbrake turns and nuggets!!!...I'll keep sugesting this untill it happens :p lmao:innocent: I like the idea of taking a whole day, meet in the morning, a bit of car talk, looking around the cars and such, then maybe a little drive out, some nice B roads, little blast down an A road or two, then back to the pub for grub, a swift half, back out to the car park for more gawping and banter and away home in the evening. Either that, or a Rolling Road day with a pub lunch afterwards??
  23. woops, double post lol
  24. I'd be up for a meet! Have to try and get more than 3 cars this time haha!
  25. Needs pulling out? do what me and a friend did when he bumped his puma, tow rope and another car :p Sorry to hear about ur little misshapp, if you need a hand with anything, i'm not too far away, i'm pretty handy with a spanner and you can pay me in tea :D Plus, you did offer your help changing my plenum, so i'd consider it a fair trade :p
