  1. Hi all, found out today that its not my wheel bearing that's gone, but the ball joint on the Hicas bar, so was going to change it for the one on my breaker, but run into a snag. how the hell do you get the bar off from the ball joint end. its looks like a square nut, and then two very thin nuts. but i don't know what size they are. looks to be in the region of 30 to 32mm spanner i need. Also i take it once i start undoing them, I'm going to leak hicas fluid everywhere and will then need to bleed the system once changed. Anyone got a walk through or something, ive checked the web, and im about to check the online service manual. Need to remove the bit with in the red box, the other end is floating free from where i undid it. i have no idea what spanner size i need for the job. anyone shed some light? i have nothing big enough to fit it at the moment.
  2. happy birthday bud, hope you have a good one.
  3. Correction, i have a failed MOT lol Damn it, now look, you got me commenting.....
  4. meh no point me commenting here anymore, my cars are shit.
  5. Done, rules and link added to your first post. and tread cleared up of the blatant rule breaking lol Im trying :crying:
  6. I chose "other", even though i own a burgundy (AH4) car, its not quite red. i don't like red cars never have. sorry red car owners. Black is ok but again, due to it being black, does hinder the lines of a zed. White isnt my thing so not going with that. But give me bayside blue OR AH4 and ill be doing it up the exhaust all day long. :D
  7. Ive posted one of my black zed thats now being broken, 2 of my previous first N/A and 2 of my current TT manual. one with 89spec front bumper and one when the 99 spec was fitted. Car.mad love the rainy one, and daz always love yours mate.
  8. I'm glad the body work patch worked as well gives me a good 12 months to get it sorted properly once the cars MOT and taxed, I'm also lucky that because they couldn't fit me in anytime this week for a retest the guy is going to do a partial next time round for me, instead of a full one again. Well good news is I got a baby sitter for tomorrow so I can get out to the car and check rear wheel
  9. Well if you think about it, take the bulbs that are just stupid fixes, it only failed on one thing. Pissst daz i posted you a message on your facefu...book wall lol
  10. Lucky I was there he started testing it as a cat test, till I pointed out that the car was older than 2002 (the test setting on the machine) lol
  11. both sides? because on the zed each headlight is on a separate feed. sounds strange but are you sure you havent just blown all the bulbs in one go due to your dodgy wiring  You might have a wire wrong somewhere from when you moved the fuse box.
  12. I have to agree with you, but i wouldn't get rid of my zed to get one, but if i ever ended up going for a new car that's what id be looking to upgrade to in the future :D
  13. TBH im wondering if it really is the rear wheel bearing that needs changing, everything was fine until i recently changed the brake pads on the rear, then i noticed i had a strange vibration in the car. i have checked the wheel nuts but they are on solid, im just wondering if the disk is seated correctly against the hub, so although the wheels nuts are done up, the rear brake disk is sitting kinda funny if that make sense. never had a problem before until i did the rear brakes. Bit strange if i have dislodged something doing that. as its not the first time I've changed brake pads on a zed before and its not like i don't know what im doing with brakes as i used to do it for a job, but with my head the way it is recently i could of made a mistake :( Ive got until next monday to get all the points sorted out, just going to throw the normal bulbs back into the sidelights for now, and sort that dodgy connection out on the rear number plate. and check the rear wheel properly. I think the MOT tester was being kind though if im being honest, as when he came to jack the back of the car up, he had to put the front wheels on rubber mounts as the car was too low to get the ramp jack to the rear, and the car ended up rolling forward off the rubber mounts, once the rear wheels where lifted up, lucky no damage though, but made him feel a bit embarrassed as i was standing there watching. Also, i take my hat off too him, he did a proper out on the road break test instead of putting it on the rolling road, so at least he was on the ball in that regard.
  14. I have no idea how easy it is to change a bearing on the 300zx, never changed one before, ill have to have a check, looks like ill be stripping it down, it flew through the Emissions and break test though, and he didnt say anything about my dodgy filler work, even though it was plane as day that something wasn't quite right with the area lol.
  15. Well just got back from the MOT, and well the car failed but not on what i thought it would. Front sidelights the wrong color, apparently White LED's are not white there blue? Rear number plate bulb not working (plagued by that damn thing even though it does work, its a dodgy wire so wasn't working when i took it) And the big one Rear wheel bearing too much play. So looks like I'm going to be rescuing the rear hub off my breaker for that one.
  16. In no particular order. TVR Cerbera BMW 840i Ford Escort RS cosworth Jag XJ 300zx tt manual Jap

  20. But not illegal, as the highway code stipulates that the only time you are allowed to undertake is if the traffic in the out side lanes are moving slower than you (obviously when you are with in the speed limit)
  21. Engine oil is 10/40 Gear box iirc is 75/90 Now not sure of auto gearbox but on the manual there is a plug directly on the under under the gear box with what looks like a half inch square socket, and one located on the side, I'm not sure if this is the same for the auto though matey
  22. Check the little fan housing near the rear single over head valet light, I had a similar noise that turned out to be that little fan
  23. What is it with that saying "first to see will buy?" Nice of him to tell me what im going to do.
