  1. lol, should do it like this with a v12
  2. yeah new Nissan gasket on inlet and oil resistant silicon sealant on exhaust side, all 4 covers, could it be leaking from under the vvt solenoids? is it easy to remove and is it just sealant round it?
  3. lol, at least its not a picture of uranus
  4. cant really tell, looks like water, but smells like oil,
  5. got one for you all, thought id solved it a long time ago but when we had my gearbox out noticed i hadn't i've got something leaking down the back of my engine, its more on the passenger side, and its getting onto the earth cable on the gearbox, (N/S top bolt) its not obvious what it is, what is back there that could do this? i've only seen smoke once the engines turned off about 10-20 seconds later?? what i've done... i've got Z1 silicon heater hose so there not leaking, rocker covers are a couple of weeks old, the turbo oil and water feeds were replaced a couple of months ago whilst the engine was out. i have bypassed the plenum water pipes. PCV pipes all new. anyone got any suggestions what to check now? slowly making progress with this car now lol.
  6. i found 5mm in silicon fits tighter, 6mm silicon is more prone to come off imo, i removed and refitted everything, moved the control unit into the engine bay so its closer to the boost source, and found the source line to the controller had come off slightly inside, its now got a stable boost, but is still too high? off > ~11.2psi, set to 10 and gain 5 > ~13.1psi. and set to 15 gain 10> ~14.0psi im happy leaving it set at 13.1 psi, its just strange why my stock boost is still 11psi?
  7. controller set to manual, didn't think auto worked on twin turbos. 5mm silicon hoses on solenoid, and 4mm to the gauge.
  8. new pipe from the solenoid and from the intake pipe, none of the original pipe there. only found 1 per side, the stock solenoids seem to work i get 9-10 psi before the autobox is warmed up. if i wanted to get rid of the solenoids, do i just take to out pipes directly to the actuators? what do i do with the wires?
  9. could it be something to do with the stock solenoids? should i remove them? (if so how?)
  10. hi mate, yeah its the one i got off you, stock is 11psi? that's what mine boosted to with jets fitted... its set up like you suggested, i just dont get why its so erratic. thought id done something wrong, its 11psi, next time i boost its 14 then something else etc. (with no pattern)
  11. yeah i have the same problem, however i just did away with the gearbox brackets altogether fits on the rest aright. and isn't going anywhere,
  12. im new to electronic boost controllers, but i think mines set up wrong.... my car was chipped and fitted with boost jets by zedworld last year, i since fitted a blitz boost controller, when i fitted it i removed the boost jets, but left the solenoids in place (wanted to maintain safety boost etc) finally got my new gearbox fitted today so was able to take my zed on a proper drive for the first time in months. the problem is my boost is all over the place, with the controllers gain set to off and/or 0 my boost is anywhere between 11- 14 psi???? (reading on the boost controller and my after market gauge) i thought it would revert to std with no jets???? with the boost jets in place it was a stable 11psi all the time, so im a bit confused. they take their readings from the balance bar, and there is no more then a foot and a half of pipe to and from the controllers solenoid. (scramble is turned off) ive got the warning buzzer set at 15psi so ill know if it does anything stupid, but im a bit confused.
  13. thanks jeff, its not done many miles since replacing the breather system, and only does very short journeys due to the gearbox fault, its not smoked at all today, so fingers crossed it'll be o.k.
  14. well seems like every week im asking for help, starting to think i should have thrown the towel in a long time ago, too late now im stuck with it lol. i got a load of bits turn out from z1 as well as my new (used) box, was planning to do alot of work on it saturday, but it seems to have developed another worrying fault. was sitting in the work car park letting it warm up before going home, and one of the mechanics came running over with a huge grin to say "your zeds smoking".... large amount of blue smoke out of one side, defiantly oil, after insulting me and it for a few mins they finally tried to help diagnose the problem, as its not smoked since the engine was out. was smoking with the revs, so must be getting into the cylinders somehow. , however we couldn't see any evidence of anything in the intake, was once it warmed up, its had new pcv valves and pipes fitted a few weeks ago, turbos should be good, well we all gave up and i went to drive it home, followed by a mechanic, gave it a boot full and it made a nice big plume of blue smoke then stopped smoking altogether. had it running for ages once it was home and its fine??? ??? when it smoked before it was only at traffic lights, and was the turbo seals, this is very different. any one got any ideas? dont want to ask mechanics again as im propably not going to hear the end of this for a few weeks. :sweatdrop:
  15. that makes allot of sense thanks, although i really don't care about noise or vibrations, no one on hears heard my zed properly, but lets leave it at every time it pulls into the work car park i set at least one of the new Nissan's alarms off. was funny for a while now the salesmen hate it lol... never thought about the stress it would put on the rest of the chassis, and as its a daily drive i cant have that, i wont order them then, think ill just get a nismo tranny mount. thanks, just got a bit carried away lol.
  16. im guessing no one has them then? guess i best play Guinea pig
  17. i had a similar probem a few weeks ago, turned out to be one of the fuel rail pipes had a tiny hole in it, so when left it was de pressuirzing, and taking that bit longer to start. i had a small amount of black smoke once it did start. new pipe and was all solved. could be worth a check if you cheching the regulator too.
  18. after any opinion form anyone with them really, changing my autobox and im putting another order in with z1 though i might get them, six-shooter engine mounts and solid transmission mount i like the idea of the engine being part of the chassis and less movement, but surely Nissan would not have used rubber if they weren't important??? road noise vibrations etc don't bother me, my zed stupidly anti-social anyway. :shifty:
  19. the most important thing with MOT's is working at time of test, its like an exhaust bracket if its broken it fails if its not there at all it passes, so if you could make it look like it never had repeaters, :shifty:
  20. Blitz i-d lll type r, only fitted it Sunday and love it already. really easy to install, and easy to set-up thanks to mark for the settings:thumbup1:.
  21. took it apart today and found the problem, the accordion pipe was not attached to the afm properly, so was giving a false reading, secured it properly and its all good again, was a good excuse to fit my boost controller though, now all i need is a new box and to fix the pas leak and its all good again.
  22. my zeds a daily drive goes out in all weathers was even out in the snow, if its an auto the hold buttons useful, but as said good set of tyres is the best thing you can do, i had an s13 and it was lethal in all weathers the zed by comparison is so controllable. but on the other hand, it doesn't need to be wet or even damp for mine to be full on sideways, (in private places of course)
  23. yeah ran perfect with the mafs disconnected, that's annoying don't have any spares. the selin is 2 weeks old so hope its not that but the second maf i used had sat in my garage for 3 years its was off my very first zed lol. ill try to put it back to a single intake tomorrow, hopefully i can work out which mafs failed thanks. :thumbup1:
  24. your probably all fed up of hearing about my zeds faults, but here another anyway, sorry... on the way home yesterday my zed started acting strange even by its standards, the idle got rougher and rougher until it cut out all together at the top of my road and then refused to start again. been over it today, and i cant find any obvious air leaks, which was my first port of call as when my s13 popped an intercooler hose off it behaved similar, now if you disconnect the AFM (in my case the selin) i can start it and it holds idle, what does this mean?? is one of my afm's dead? it happened over 2 miles which seems strange if a pipe had come off it would have been instant. those of you still willing to help some advise would be great....
