Hi guys been a while since i been on here someone might remember my 300z's engine went last year after running high boost i posted a video of the nosie the engine was making. Anyway i had a look under the car today for the first time. I was surprised to find the leak in between the engine and gearbox their is also a shard of metal lodged in between. And 1 of the bolts that holds the box to the engine is gone literally blown off with just half a thread were it once was. Any ideas here is it the main crankshaft bearing gone?

well right now im at the point were i get a rebuild done which is a lot, buy a new recon engine or get a new car. Personally i think its time to just put the Z to sleep for the winter lol. Saying that i do fancy an n/a will keep an eye on ebay. Thanks again guys. I guess engine knock was never gonna be good news.

well seen as you asked FunkySi yes this car has given me some ball ache. Lets see i picked it up for £900 it started making weird noises on the way home then the auto box went, lost reverse and D gave me grinding noises. Got a recon box off here for £200 and its been spot on since saying that ive had some noises only mild mind you which i thought was the centre bearing off the prop which is pretty much on the way out. I then got in touch with John Dixon about a ecu upgrade he did that this saturday he sugested we fitted the tips at his house and tbh im glad he couldnt find any lol as id probably would have needed my car recovered by the AA. On sunday a mate of mine was going to B&Q i went with him and seen some 0.8mm tips i thought *****x ill get them lets have some fun later. Fitted them and for first 5 mins was great fun then my engine ****ed up. Anyway right now im drunk and just wanna go to sleep will decded what to do in the morning im tempeted just to buy a car cover and just leave it.

I cant beileve the engine is dead just like that, i refuse to beileve it. Im gonna dump the oil tomorrow and check the filter if it has no metal bits in it im gonna take the top off and check the lifters and cam. Its deffinatley coming from the top of the engine.

Here we go, sorry its a bit dark. Right this is basically as loud as it gets it only gets faster with revs. Dont worry im not gonna be driving it till its fixed now.

Well thanks for the advice although i find it odd that my oil preasure went to 0? I mean is it possible that the oil pump is shot and oil isnt getting to the upper parts of the engine?

yes it has an uprated ecu, had it done by john on saturday morning.

Kinda like that although a hell of a lot louder, best bet is if i go record it i think.

Ok once again my car is back on my drive on axle stands seems to be something that happens weekly. This time i have a knocking noise from my engine. Quick histroy with this i upped the boost preasure too 15psi. I took it for a spin and ohh man it was great. I pulled up in a bus stop and notice a slight noise turned engine off and on and it was gone. I started the drive back home and the noise was getting worse, pulled up again and its coming from the right side of the engine. I looked at the oil preasure gauge and its at 0 then it went back up slightly and it dosnt get passed the first positive line, even when driving. Any ideas here guys i really cant afford a rebuild.

Sorry i took so long updating this but i only just finished the work today. The car is working great now. This time i flushed the oil cooler with the the garden hose it actually had a blockage in it which shifted eventually. I then used an air compressor to get all the water out. Thankyou Jeff im well chuffed atm. To anyone with gearbox problems try this it only takes your time and gives good results may even buy you some time on a dieing box.

Ive got it as well ignition on, and it comes from mid front area. I always thought it was my autobox. Anyway ive never had any running issues.

Malpas Road in between Newport and Cwmbran yesterday at 23:15 Swear i seen a 300z on the opposite side of the road looked in the mirror and you cant mistake those lights.

it was more like sludgey fibres, oil that came out was brown as well. The autocooler i have though was from the original box which had serious issues with grinding gears. Like i said i did the first flush and it sorta solved the problem for 10 mins so it has to be related. Just like to say thanks for the help though Jeff i know this is a pretty boring problem as it crops up a lot. Ill give it a second clean see what happens.

No i didnt clean the cooler actually. You think it blocked up the strainer again? Cause that was pretty fast thought id get a day or two at least.

At my wits end now tbh. I did as suggested drained it removed the sump cleaned it, removed the strainer and cleaned that with petrol. Put it all back together and filled it with Comma Automatic Transmission Fluid from halfords. Moment of truth started it up and everything seemed fine no noises. Selected a gear and she moved. Took it for out for about 10 mins then it happened again total loss of gears no power going from the engine what so ever. Now when i start the car sometimes i get drive after a while and if i do its slugish. If i dont get drive and just wait the revs dip down and it starts creeping but thats it. And before you say it yes i should get a manual i just dont have over a grand to spend :)

Thought id update this, i just finished having a little look under the car. I drained the gearbox oil it was brown and only about 2 litres came out i couldnt beileve it tbh. Lesson for everyone if you take your Z to a garage make sure they have a clue. Hopefully not too much damage has been done but by the state of the oil that came out i reckon ill need a new box soon again.

why not just leave it? Pay less on insurance on an auto i think anyway. I see plenty of people on ebay selling cars with engine swaps who never bother changing it. Normally with corsa's hehe.

Thanks, ill give this a go tomorrow. I think this is this car's third box now jeez. Gonna be worth my while going manual soon. Gonna save me money in the long run lol.

**Bump** Anyone got anything i was hoping somebody would have cheered me up by saying i just needed to clean some electrical plugs or replace a sensor. Gotta go tow it home in a few hours :(

As usual i have a problem with my autobox. Was driving in town today stopped at some lights they went green i pressed the accelarator nothing happened. I lost every gear nothing worked engine would just rev. Turned it all off started it up and i got drive back for about 5 - 10 seconds which allowed me to at least get her safe. The box only went in a month ago. It made no nasty noises or grinding, it changed gear perfectly, didnt leak, no burning smells. Before it went in i checked the oil left in the box and it was still perfect color. I suspect somehting electrical or a sensor, it was just so sudden. Any ideas? Thanks Rob.

I went to nissan personally, cost me about 12 quid for 2 front pipe gaskets and the bolts. Funnily enough when i actually got the gaskets they were more like large rings, not like im used too but i fitted it and it worked perfectly so.
