  1. stick with it....best fun you can have for under £4k...sure you have to spend a bit too keep it going but this is the same for all cars with any sort of performance...there is no such thing a maint free car....but its more like hundreds than thousands (except when running a modded beast)...i saw that a bland rover freelander gearbox would set you back £4.5K !! ...makes the zed very very good value on that score alone...even bog std BMW's can set you back £1K per service per year....cars never make financial sense...these make sense mainly if its classic use as the insurance will be p1ss...daily driver sure its poss but makes less ££ sense as per milage and insurance are factors
  2. not sure if its of any use if anyone is looking for speakers right now but i went into Maplins the other day....and found some perfectly good in-car speakers on special for £7.99 reduced from £23.99...same size as front door ones...wasn't fussed with the brand as i dont listen to radio or music much when driving...but there you go should do nicely seeing as my stock ones are blown...bargain
  3. i'm sure the graphics came as standard as wasnt that the sierra infidelity Ltd edition model 1988?
  4. never paid much attetion to be honest seeing as you mention it i will look tonight though...i cant recall having to strain to see which gear was selected when night driving so i guess it is backlit by some small bulb / diode linked to the dash illumination
  5. its the right tools which will make all the difference to the time spent and of course exp in doing it or seeing it done before...it doesnt seem like the kind of job you would /could do roadside...if that is the plan...failing that Zen garage is only 10-15 mins from crawley call them and get a price to fit cheers

blimey this is in early...! hard to say if i'm going as i dont tend to book my diary so far ahead...in this case in 5 months time...!!
  7. my top tip is to join a commercial/business bank as a sole trader you will get free banking for 6-12 months with most and have dedicated UK staff...this should give all the features of a personal bank account and maybe more...flat rate fees usually run @£10 per month thereafter...worth every penny...personal banking IMHO sucks because its free basically...and you get what you pay for...ie nothing...:)
  8. traffic stopped the fun...but too true i couldnt edge him...mind he had the benefit of an extra 90 bhp and a newer gearbox and my launch was poor
  9. brands is a nice track thats for sure....easy for those in the south east of course

  14. most of the issues covered by news media are to be frank extremes and are covered to provoke outrage....and usually rare...(take child murders etc)....or fear of johnny foreigner...etc...etc (IIRC more folks quit the UK than arrive each year this is esp true in Scotland whose population has fallen by millions over the last 100 years) you will always get over zealous officals in any large organisation who mis-reads or mis-interperates the rules or guidence....but its not newsworthy the print the fact the thousands (majority) of folks do use it correctly....quite often these stories have no follow up and (boringly) the issue such as the one described get sorted by a few simple words from the bosses. that said its a great place

  16. well that one smashed the myth that you cant get a 99/00/type R import...i knew the dvla would assume some sort of policy when it came to late production run models...stands to reason they can make more money...! :D

  19. ....Oldham drivers 'most intelligent' Drivers in Oldham are the cleverest in Britain, but those in Rochdale are the least bright, a survey has suggested. The eBay motoring intelligence test also found Bentley and Aston Martin owners have the lowest IQ, with classic Triumph drivers scoring top. The survey assessed drivers on their knowledge of facts including stopping distances, speed limits and road signs. Results were based on 6,000 responses from people in 100 different towns across the country Researchers found that half of all drivers did not know basic rules such as minimum stopping distances. One sixth of respondents could not identify simple road signs, while 5% did not know the motorway speed limit. Formula One racing driver David Coulthard took the test and scored 34 which put him in the motoring genius category, eBay said.
  20. drove like a granny on a sunday i'm afraid....it was p1ssing down very poor conditions unfamiliar feel for the handling, first auto since the last 5 years before, coupled with 300 horse at the rear wheels and steamed up windows (cos i couldnt suss the air con) meant a very cautious first day's driving...almost pertified to be honest...still respect the beast a hell of lot after 2 years driving...its the kind of car if you give it an inch it will bite your hand off and you'll find yourself going sideways or backwards....:D
  21. subscribe for £20...and you get the additional functions to edit stuff :D
  22. Dave's the man....! Was just gonna say the same thing.....just edit the posts or thread title to state without pred....bla bla...i'll be honest the law doesnt look too much at txt, recorded phone calls or web stuff as evidence anyway...letters are where its really at when it comes to using without prejudice Regards Chris
  23. from my long exp in the world of debt all i can say is it takes money to chase money the issue of who is right will be a judges decision...do you have a fighting fund (from claim to enforcment this is going to be at least £200-£300) and more so does the other party have an income...if not don't bother btw if you want to avoid this or any forum thread for that matter being used against you in court paste without prejudice on the top all the best with whatever you decide
  24. yeah....they were scabby for weeks after but i got away lightly...only a scar on my top lip and 1 false front tooth....look quite normal now even small kids are unafraid in my presence....
