  1. houghtons is great...if you got a driveway or garage and stick to under 5000 miles...none of these apply in my case...such is life regards
  2. just been reading a few post here and there about insurance quotes etc and co's who say yes to some and no to others...i did a bit of phoning around and found a few odd practices going on...i have been quoted for fully comp by several co's of which 2 blatently didnt put the car down as an import even when i told them in clear english...when picking up on this from the quotes supplied they withdrew the cover...i am in no doubt that they are conning some drivers who pay for policies which are worthless in the event of a crunch...because it is down to you to tell them of any changes to the schedule they print and send to you...and to add my bit about norwich union direct and will they / wont they cover imports...the answer is yes they do but only if you go through certain brokers as they cant be bothered to do the admin so farm it out... regards
  3. i posted this earlier elsewhere.... watch out for the import insurance con....more than 2 companies i got quotes from didnt put down the car was imported...this is after telling them when phoning...i spoke with somebody in the trade who stated there are a lot of co's just ignoring these details because they would lose the business (ie profit) if they couldnt quote you for an import...so they just ignore it and quote away safe in the knowledge if you dont pick up on it they get away with it...oh and if you crash they wont pay out...can you imagine the hassle of trying to get the records of the phone convesation to prove your case....and they say there is a lot of fraudulent claims...more like fraudulent employees regards
  4. just to add more fuel to Markzx and his view of our esteemed elected leaders i forgot to mention that the bankruptcy itself isnt free...its about £510 there-abouts...i dunno whether to laugh or cry...maybe the loonies have taken over the asylum
  5. anyone who is facing closure because of this bureacratic nightmare should lobby their MP's...still if the worst comes to the worst you can use a handy bit of gov legislation and go declare yourself an honest bankrupt...free from discharge in just 12 months now...anyone wanting info on this i can help as i run a free debt helpline regards

  7. to mod or not to mod that is a question which may be worth asking......are you wanting to mod yourself (i.e. buy totally standard and let the fun begin) or take one that has been tweaked here and there and possibly everywhere...! i went for a total standard tt (import) and paid £3.5k

  11. i had a lad drive into the back of my old scorpio...bent the frame..a write off...anyways when he hit me i went into a car infront...who drove off...no insurance i guess...anyway i asked the lad to sign a deciption of the accident saying that he was responsible for hitting me...guess what..his insurers said he wasnt liable because he had only crashed into me because i had crashed into someone else first and it had distrated him...can you believe that?....anyway i said ok you send your man to inspect your clients rear end damage and we'll leave the front out for now...report came back saying the rear damage was more than enough to make it a write off but still disputed liability...it was then i pointed out to them that i had a hire car taken out with a co called vision vehicle hire who pre vet claims with the accident recovery drivers and that the hire car was £75 a day and the more they argue over the £700 ford the worse it gets...they paid up in full...just boggling when you think it was just a rear end shunt... regards

  13. just to put in a word for brighton...seeing as i live here...there was guy murdered down here the other day over a road rage type thing...its posted elsewhere on the forum...and we may yet get the record for the worst ever 2 car pile up...8 dead so far...only happened on Sunday too...
  14. i'll add my vote for coldharbour lane...aka the front-line in Brixton, the only place i've seen guns openly waved around and folks mugged for their benefits as they leave the post office...car jacking is a distinct possibilty in a nice motor so if you visit keep the doors locked...no joke still its worth mentioning Penzance which is referred to the locals as Menspants...spend a friday night there and you'll know why...crazy fishing fighting cornish seem to revel in tearing it up... regards
  15. general agreement with all that is said above, audi tt drivers seem to be esp prone to having a pop....on the subject of RS6 i was gonna buy one but compared the price and looks the zx won...i think i was under the spell of the bull advert... regards
