  1. ok mate. il get in touch with him on his return then, hopefully wont be too long... cheers :)
  2. hi guys, not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i am desperately trying to get in touch with 'shunter', and he hasnt logged on for 3 days now. if anyone knows him personally, please ask him to log on and read his pm's. cheers :hyper:
  3. i remember getting quite exciting speeds out of my NA a couple of years ago... i bought it completely standard, a jap SWB manual slicktop... then started the mods after a couple of months of research... the end spec was... - stillen gtz-r2 front bumper - stillen metal cone filter - hard metal induction pipes off ebay - ported and polished heads - new valves - custom made headers - haywood and scott 2.5" SS custom exhaust - UR underdrive pulley full set - TT fidanza flywheel - TT manual gearbox - spare wheel removed with tools and rear shade - new OE water pump - new OE rad - new OE fuel pump - standard wheels with toyos i would always treat the engine with redex cleaning agents every 2 weeks, and only ran it off optimax (98 RON). on one occasion i was out with a mate in a 400ish hp soarer coming back from southend on the M25... i was running octane booster also, so the fuel RON must have been about 102-103 (almost jap standards methinks)... between junction 9 and 8- on the downhill stretch- i was told i was running at 155- 160MPH from my mate who was in front... i dont know but it must have been close as the needle was stuck south on the dial... crank gave in 2 miles from my house! seems like the only oversight i had made was not adding any aditional oil coolers! oops. only thing i regret was never managing to organise myself to either get it dynoed or get a quarter time.
  4. as above, couldnt see driver properly due to very effective and stylish tint jobby...
  5. si, i was just wondering what you think is an adequate level to take the modifications of a 300zx to, as you seem so negative towards these examples. do you think that 300s should not be spoiled or experimented on? have you ever seen a similar show car effort and liked the final result? not a dig, just curious to know what your 'ideal 300zx' would look like as you seem to be a man that knows what he likes (and doesn't like!).
  6. just out of curiosity, where is the cheapest place to get a '99 spec bumper from? and do they come ready painted in Nissan colours?
  7. yeah, know what you mean... the '99 spec bumper would make a big difference and bring the look right up to date. im thinking wait for the right buyer and then sell it with about 6 months MOT left, so you dont have to shell out £1.5K and then sell it straight away. get some more use out of it before you let her go, if you know what i mean. but to someone not very knowledgeable about zeds, maybe the suspension wouldn't matter. maybe if you advertise it elsewhere, see what interest you get back and then decide if you want to throw in some extras...
  8. how much do you think it will cost to get the MOT and tax, and then change the suspension and bumper...? i dont know but im guessing... over a grand if theres no work to do on the MOT.
  9. its hard to calculate, but my general feeling would be in the £5-6K area. i dont think iv ever seen a zed go for more than £7K recently. to be honest i think you could probably get more for it advertising it in autotrader or somewhere where the prospective buyers would not know very much about the car. my mate almost got duped the other day- was about to cough up £6.5K for a SWB NA. nice bodywork, but still not worth the money. i think urs is as nice an example as any prospective buyer is likely to come across, so good luck to you if you decide to go ahead. (hope you dont though, you know you're hooked on zeds really!)
  10. mugs, smart polo shirts, belt buckles (metal logo that you can make ur own belt with) or complete belts. ermm... smart casual jackets with the logo on the back... like the F.B.I. :hyper:
  11. ryans still about. not sure what state ztech is in now, as he's recovering from his divorce, poor guy. ryans mob is 07766996946
  12. as far as cars go, i wouldn't want to own it in that state, its obviously not practical- its a show car! i have to agree with StellaZ here though, you gotta admire the work that went into it- its a piece of art!
  13. how much is 312KW in HP anyway? and what performance increase would an R32 diff give... or is it simply stronger?
  14. i dont know if anyone has seen this, but i think it is the nicest example of an extreme 300zx i have ever come accross... http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_1787/article.html?popularArticle
  15. i have used the automated message that pops up when the subscription is about to run out, and payed the £15 renewal via paypal on the 31st (can provide paypal recipt) but now my account is disabled in that i cannot reply to posts- so cannot buy much needed parts from others!  :headvswal can someone sort this for me ASAP please! cheers fellahs
  16. to be honest matey, with just the goals you have mentioned here "about 450 rwhp then stop there...." (thats about 530+ fly wheel HP) you have a proper project ahead of you! as far as modding a zed goes, especially if you are not going to be doing any of the work your self, under £3K is not going to get you very far on engine mods. im just coming to the end of my project with my zed- brief was for 500HP at the fly, now i have ended up with closer to 500HP at the rear wheels... i set aside £5K for the zed, and my final bill has come to over £13K for just the mechanical side of modifications! trouble is, it always takes time to achieve anything with a zed- individual jobs can be quick, but then it is always much much cheaper to get as much done at once as you can afford. my bill got so large because once i had accepted i was going to spend over budget, i knew it would take alot longer to build, nad therefore i would be able to put more money aside for it over time... made sense to me! you prob wont do every thing i have (but you should if you want this power!)... things like... rear subframe, poly bushes, cusco diff, custom single race exhaust, twin filter, new engine, engine rebuild, JWT530BB's, twin 'coolers, koyo rad, injectors, full suspension replacement- shocks, camber, arms, rods, new gearbox, clutch, boost control, guages, new seats, traction control, 350z brembos, wide wheels, custom map... my point is however you look at it, these are old cars, and if you want to modify them into modern day super cars- and it can be done- there are many things that have to be changed. finally, my advice to you would be to spend the £3K on making sure your zed 1). won't break on you. 2). is safe to drive. 3). looks like a car you want to invest in. winter is the time for saving up and engine modding if you are not going to do it your self- the summer is nearly here, just keep it working and enjoy it! SWZ have a good deal lined up for you with the manual conversion (£1400). then i would use the money you would have saved on servicing it (i imagine SWZ would include fluids in their quote), and get the oil cooler linked up to the new manual box, get the cambelt done, maybe look into boost control (can get a blitz SBC-ID supplied and fitted for £500)- and enjoy your transformed summer ride!
  17. :D the difference really is amazing when you can compare how you're zed looks before and after. good choice of tube that man! looks awesome! a shiny zed is a happy zed :D
  18. i know, i know. but i spotted this one myself and i was well chuffed with myself :smash:   but no one else cares...
  19. i cant remember this being said previously so i thought i would share it with you... was watching american pie 2 last night and noticed there is a red 300zx convertible passing through the scene where the boys get to the lake resort and are in town searching for summer jobs. its only a few seconds but it looks like a minter :D so... films with 300'z... American pie 2 Kill Bill 2 that gay looking boy racer jobby that was discussed on the forum a few months ago... any more?...
  20. you are absolutley right about the weight distribution mark, as the origional design for zeds was geared around touring, not racing. i think with enough R&D -that strangely has not been done to this point- these weight issues can be resolved. what my company will offer however, will have nothing to do with any other manufacturers currently in production. im not even sure if strosek tested thier kits for aerodynamics. its not a cheap or easy goal to accomplish- to confidently say that a body shell or pannels give the optimum air flow around the car with optimum cooling efficiency also. my designs are ORIGIONAL and all products will be PATENTED before they are available for purchase. im not interested in making a quick buck from enthusiasts- im in this to take the abilities of the UK ZED tuning scene to the next level, and also to start a business that i will look forward to getting up in the morning for, because i am an enthusiast and a pioneer. i appreciate why some people will be sceptical to begin with, but trust that we are moving forwards here. innovative progress.
  21. hi andrew, yeah i understand what the barry boys are now! they all deserve a slap :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap: no worries- there are so many people reading these threads and they all may have a different take on whats being implied and so on so i always try to address all possible issues in one thread. body shape will probably be kept in a similar form as the zeds origional one, although i cannot predict the final designs yet as only proper testing can reveal the optimum design. cheers for the input matey. :nana2:
  22. you forget mr.piesoup, that it is the design of the vehicle that is old- not the parts that have been replaced or the brand new engines and transmissions that most performance enthusiasts install on their project cars. :slap: :nono: to the people i am trying to reach, these are not just old cars- these are labours of love and a means to get a tax free adrenaline rush on the weekend, or any time they drive on a road. some of the zeds i have seen in this country look pitiful- a reflection of the owners respect and care for their cars. some of the cars i have seen, mine included, are purly performance machines that have had their innards stripped and replaced to create drag and track weapons to combat the likes of ferrari and porche. obviously the handling will never be as refined or developed, but with a full suspension replacement including subframe, diff, upper and lower arms, camber adjustment, anti sway bars and chassy support, AND more usable power, a zed can be transformed into a truly understated supercar. i know the 'can a zed be a supercar' debate is an old favorite and has been flogged to death, but the parts are available for purchase and the performance figures are available to view. :nana2: so tell me... why should these elite zeds not have a range of exterior parts developed for them to give them the presence and attitude they deserve? my company is not only developing parts for the zed, as this is a relayively small market when compared to the jap, euro and american tuning scenes. ps who are the barry boys? :p
  23. well the bat mobile was actually RED but all the bat poo stained the paint dark poo gloss. night rider was actually RED but hasslehoffs skin didnt suit a red leather jacket so they covered it in too much greasy hair goo, and let it dry- like the hoffs own head- to make it greasy matt goo. the mad max falcon was also RED funnily enough, but the lazy arse never sorted any prang damage so eventually all you could see in the film was the black steel underneath. so when you know all the facts, red really is the best! :D :nana2:
  24. yeah i know how much it would cost someone off the street... it probably wouldnt be a profitable venture for me if i didnt know the boys in the buiz ;) thanks to everyone who has already participated in this poll :nana2: to everyone else, please do enter- everyones input into this could really transform the looks and quality of zed exteriors over the next few years, and also give the zed an overlooked advantage over other jap cars on the track and street. it would be awesome to get feedback from the majority of members on this forum... PLEASE EVERYONE TELL WHOEVER YOU KNOW ON THIS FORUM TO ENTER THE POLL PLEASE!!! :hyper: if i do get as far as i hope in this venture, the first range of products my company will produce will be for zeds, but without trying to promise more than i can realistically predict at this moment... my intention is to use willing individuals on this forum to help me test various products. the cometic side i can say will not be the issue- the products will look the part- its the actual performance gains that i am interested in researching.
