  1. Im in Wigginton so only about 30 mins away from harrogate. Only problem with Z's is that they are impossible to get under without car ramps or a pit :-( of which i have nither lol. In case cleaning it doesnt work, are they easy to replace with a new one or will it be a garage jobbie?
  2. Ok, heres what happened: 1) Took the dash apart and check for loose/broken connections and couldnt find any. Didnt really fancy stripping the clocks down to resolder as i would end up braking them (i have no patience lol), so first thing i did was snip all the wires to the kmh/mph convertor and wire it direct to the speedometer (so it would be back in kph). 2) took it for a test drive. No luck 3) wired the convertor back in and cleaned up some connections 4) took it for a test drive, however on the way back the powersteering stopped working so now i need to check out the speed sensor/connections:-( i know its on the gearbox somewhere, just need to find it lol.
  3. Cool because i dont think ill get it fixed in time lol. Im using my Tomtom at the moment and going by the revs vs gears to work out my speed lol. Yea it has a kph/mph convertor. Ill be looking into it today so ill let ya all know what it turned out to be.
  4. true i suppose. Fingers crossed!! Thank you!
  5. i was afraid that was going to be the case lol. how about if the power steering isnt working? its a straight road i take home so havent really noticed.
  6. Oh my god i could cry lol. Just spent a fortune getting the car ready for its MOT next week, and on my way home from work the speedometer has just dropped to 0, no twitching or anything, just dead. Any advice?
  7. its a bit of a trek for me (York) but will be worth it. Im trying to get the Z to perfect health again. Think the previous owner knew less about cars than i do! (which is scary) EDIT: AH now i can edit posts! Subscribed early :-)
  8. email sent. i get paid soon so will be subscribing then :-)
  9. think i might just take it to Zedworld and get the to do a belt change and water pump change. as mentioned before, prevention is cheaper than the cure. I do drive the car hard (cant help it lol, it wants it.), its a 91 NA, i really must make a sig lol. Its just a pain as i just got it serviced lol (in which 3 wheel studs snapped off :-S).
  10. Water cooling all the way. I went to watercooling a few years ago and havent looked back, ultra silent and ultra cool pc ftw.
  11. wow thanks for such a monumental and quick reply lol. Ill check for a sticker, and give zedworld a ring :-)
  12. ooo cool, well this changes everything lol, ill get it done ASAP.
  13. really? i thought it would be a nightmare and set me back about £350 or something?
  14. Heya, When i bought the car the previous owner told me that the timing belt had been replaced last April at 65k milage. I had a quick look through the receipts on purchase and everything seemed fine. Just had another look whilst looking for my MOT documents and the receipt actually says: 'Adjusted Timing', so i think i must of misread it skim reading when i bought it :-S The car is now on 72k and i have no idea when or if the timing belt has been replaced other than the word of the seller (which doesnt seem to match receipts). ive just had it serviced and new brakes and stuff so cant really afford a timing belt service for a few months, is it something i should be really worried about? I know if it goes the car is fooked but surely it would have been replaced before now :-S
  15. cool, thanks for the list ill give it all a good check. Had a friend do the same thing in a 200sx and it was close to a write off with the amount of "internal" damage he had done. Sucks this has happened a week before the MOT too, fingers crossed nothing is bent/split/leaking/cracked.
  16. *****x. Only had them on a couple of weeks. Pulled out of a juntion too fast in the wet, back end spun around and slammed me sideways into the curb on the opposite side of the road. Other than the scuffed alloys is there anything else i should check after such a collision? Car seems to drive fine and in a straight line but ya can never be sure with these things. Hit the curb pretty hard sideways.
  17. Am i right in thinking that a '91 zx would get through an MOT with these decats on?
  18. Wow, finally got them on after all this time lol. The fronts are still tucked under the arch nicely and the backs are flush with the arch (dont stick out at all!) and whilst i was at it i got rid of all the chavvy stickers from the back too: im getting there.
  19. its metallic black :-)
  20. yea the tyres are going on my credit card so i can pay them off over summer as i wear them away :-(. I asked the guy before i bought them and he said they were flush without the need for spacers etc (i was worried they might stick out a bit) but ill get plenty of pics when they are fitted to see if they are.
  21. well i was worried that "everyone was gonna have them" kinda thing, but then i remembered i havent seen a 300zx in York in over a year so i think ill get away with it lol. They are nice wheels :-) saying that i dont think ive ever seen a bad set of alloys on a Z. (except the ones that are on mine at the mo)
  22. they are similar to them, they are "twin 5 spoke" though which i dont like, so i went for these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160326963229&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F160326963229%2520%2520%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm38%26_nkw%3D160326963229%2B%2B%26_naf%3D1%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
  23. nope Arrays for £349
  24. holy crap they are wide tyres lol. thanks for the quick reply :-D
  25. Just bought a set of alloys off the bay of e, but they dont come with tryes the wheel sizes are 18"x8.5 fronts and 18"x9.5 rears. What size tyres will i need to keep the rolling radius the same as standard (or close as poss)?
