It's here at last!
with a power upgrade costing around £100, regardless of auto or manual it will go sideways :p best modification is to remove the standard exhaust and remove both catalysts as the s14a has 2!! it will then pull to 100+ in a lot less time than with the stock setup. Once all the exhaust is replaced with a more freeflowing setup, you will be getting around 12 psi without even upping the boost, thats how restrictive the standard exhaust is LOL fuel pump will need replacing with a walbro 255 ltr PH or similar as the stock one tends to fail anything running over 12 psi you can even use a 300zx fuel pump, i went for a new one for obvious reasons change the plugs for some cooler ones  decent air filter  stg1 map also bear in mind there is a restrictor in the boost line, but if your fitting all the above items, then some form of boost controller will be needed anyway the standard turbo is capable of running 17psi but would need bigger injectors and a map to suit this in turn will give you approx 300hp with power to weight which makes it a very capable car. also the s14a auto has a EGR, blanking of the vac line to it, removes the hesitation at 2.5k early s14s had this the s14a manual does not have an EGR :) greg

trouble with short shifters
the problem with short shifters are most of the kits have nylon bushes these tend to make the shift real stiff  try undoing the nut slightly you may nipped it up to tight, also the fact its shorter which means more energy to move it and less leverage i removed mine as it was more of a hinderance than a modification i think the ideal thing to use is a a softer type bush to sit between the attachment also some grease around the nut and bush may help ease gear changes greg

Z1 wiesco pistons
a slight knock is usual and once warm and expanded it should quiten down, if its more of a rattle then id be more concerned. problems with weisco are poor design circlip ie..If one is not installed properly and falls out or pings out, then you have a problem! there was a bad batch of circlips which even weisco did not deny, however this was a one off, not a good one admitadly but was sorted IMO im not a fan of them, but you dont want to hear that, and besides most people use them as there cheaper than majority of the rest. and 99% of the time there fine, i prefer arias pistons the circlip design is second to none and all circlips can be installed in seconds, and are solid.

Rust!
its not so bad now as almost 0 salt on the roads, but i would certainly sort out before the next winter, worth nipping in the bud, before it speads :)
-
Rust!
it will spead best bet is to remove any loose metal which is damaged and get a plate made up and welded, once it speads it needs treating, waxoil and the like is a prevetative for future cancer spreading rust.
