No way could you be leaking that much fuel into the engine bay - it would stink permanently, and be wet somewhere.

Tank on a Z is 72 litres. It's worth checking your O2 sensors, if they fail 'lean' then the ECU tries to compensate by overfuelling all the time.

Usually called de-cat pipes or test pipes in the US as they're not legal for road use in most states.

Actually, using TDC from a dial gauge is probably the most accurate way of doing it. But what you'd probably end up doing is getting an engineer put the marks on it for you, working from the original pulley.

I always had a photocopy on my bike, that way it didn't matter if it got nicked. These days the plod may take a less charitable view of that ....
