The automatic ratios are: 1st 2.78, 2nd 1.54, 3rd 1.00, 4th 0.69, so results for the turbo are (Maximum, as actual speeds will depend on torque converter slip): Gear MPH RPM 1st 48 7200 Held in first 2nd 87 7200 Held in second 3rd 139 7200 Held in 3rd, overdrive off 4th 155 5500 with speed limiter 4th 178 6400 without speed limiter, not attainable by stock TT 4th 201 7200 intermittent theoretical, rev limited Hmmm, so if your speedo is right-ish and the rev counter is at max, then you may be stuck in 3rd ...

There is a website somewhere that details all the requirements of the MOT, so you can do a pre-test of your own. Can´t remember it, but a search should turn it up, may even be listed on my site somewhere.

What about synthetic oil for manual boxes ? Are there any (cheaper) alternatives to Redline ?

Yep, still a few old yank heaps here, but more more jap stuff now. Car modding is alive and well here - some of it needs to be seen to be believed, hopefully I´ll have a few pics ! Have been to Cusco, Machu Picchu, Yukay, Ollaynwhatisit, Puno (lake Titticaca) and many other places. It´s an amazing country.

I did have one and it was brilliant (for an auto) but I sold it when I converted to manual (autos are for girls of course). However, the fella I sold it to managed to get the car trashed about 2 weeks later, so I guess it was too fast for a 'normal' car ;)
