try resoldering the joint behing the speedo as they can suffer from dry ones causing problems. don't condem it yet.if you are not confident in doing it some people on here eg andyp can probably assist you for a small fee . hth gaz

thank you all for your advice. i live in bournemouth but my grandparents inlaws live in alton hampshire. i know absolutly nothing about diesel engines so all the advice is great. um im being thick now but how do you crack an injector??
