checking compression
Hi, Just need to verify a few things as I need to check my compression. I've looked at the write up on TT.net - http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/compression.html and I've got a couple of question: 1. On the instuctions (with the compression tester) it says to remove one plug at a time, then replace, then go on to the next one but on TT.net instructions it says to remove all the plugs - which one is right? 2. Does it matter if the balance bar is attached or not? Cheers Vijay

oil smoke question
Hi Smithy, Not sure where the turbos were from as I had the whole job from Ancaster in Kent. Does anyone know why I wouldn't get oil on idle but get it with the air con on   Vijay

oil smoke question
the thing is I think it's when the idling goes up as the smoke starts within a few seconds. Would this still be turbo seals? Vijay

I've noticed that my car only seams to smoke when the air con is on and not on idle, any ideas? Cheers Vijay

engine out advice
Hi Steve, I'm not sure how much oil it's using at the moment as it's had 2 oil changes in the last month. I was using Mobil 1 but changed it to Castrol RS 10/60 last week but it still smokes. I am tempted to leave it for a while and see how it gets on...................... Vijay

engine out advice
Cheers Rob :) :) Hi Steve, Yeah, I'm not too happy, just looked at the receipt and I've done 12k and they were done 2.5 years ago. I have decatted the car but I do not thrash the car around (really I don't). The drivers side smokes badly on idle. I was stuck in traffic for 6 hours on the M25 on Friday and wasn't very happy with all the smoke so when a guy came and knocked on my window to tell me my car was on fire:eek:   ...................................... Oh well, Z ownership I suupose:rolleyes:  Vijay

engine out advice
Cheers Aaron, I've already got all the water hoses here to be done. Had a full Courtesy order done a few months back and I'm not looking to uprate anything. Do you think the det sensor would be a good idea anyway? Do you know if there's a write up any where on removing the EGR bits? Is there any disadvantage with doing this? Thanks again for the advice. Looks as though my turbos are gonna need to be re-done so I'm wondering on what other jobs people might advise being done while the engine's out? Cheers Vijay

Gear stick wobble
there's a clip on each end of the hose, remove them and pull off the pipe and then start squirting, leave it for a minute then repeat, do that a few times then put the hose back on :) Vijay

Gear stick wobble
It's this pipe and you spray carb clean down the pipe going towards the back of the engine :)

Still smokin'
nope, I mean the ones right at the front, part number 11823 on this pic - http://www.courtesyparts.com/z32/oe_pcv.html I thought they were just pipes but as Iain explained (and he was right) they do have bits inside. Vijay

compression testers and timing lights
Hi, Can anyone help with with these? I'm looking to buy one of each and just wanted to know if I need anything special? I'm looking at the Gunson stuff: http://www.gunson.co.uk/acatalog/Gunson_Catalogue_Timing_Lights_4.html http://www.gunson.co.uk/acatalog/Gunson_Catalogue_General_Test___Tune_Equipment_8.html I also see that they sell a "remote start/crank" switch, how would these connect up o a 300? Cheers Vijay

Still smokin'
Hello Martin, I do feel for you as mine is doing exactly the same and I had my turbos replaced less than 2 years ago (and not even 10k on them). Did you change the PCV pipes on the front? as these contain restrictors and what looks like some sort of filter. Vijay

Gear stick wobble
I changed those small bushes and I found it really easy:confused:  I think using a stubby spanner helped though. Yep, me :D :D Seriously though I'm sure it was Mr Duffman who first suggested it. Vijay

misfire
Try checking the coilpacks are on tightly. Mine did the same and as most of the connectors break, they have a tendancy to work loose. Vijay

Hi Andy, I would only probably go to 5psi or so (I'd start to loose bottle after that) :) Vijay
