do you have an aftermarket air filter? if so, do you still have the splash gaurd in place? Vijay

Do an ecu diagnostic before you go and buy another ecu. I agree with Rich, think you'd have to be very unlucky to fry your ecu by jump starting it and I've jump started my Z many a time over the years. Vijay

while filling, leave the engine running with the heater set on max temp and max blow. This will help getting rid of the air. Vijay

IIRC popping would be unburnt fuel igniting in your cats/exhaust. Check/clean your connectors to your maf/PTU/Coilpacks/CAS and injectors. Vijay
