Run the engine until its all warms up, and then gently move the stick through the gears, see if it free's up. If the car was driving OK before being parked up, and it has'nt lost any fluid, something's just stuck, and needs freeing up.

The stunt show at Disney Land MGM Studios uses Vauxhall Corsa'a with a similar set up, they do go like stink, acceleration is rapid!!
