  1. is it in the Windows directory? I cant find it for toffee!
  2. i didnt think there was a backup in XP  there was a good one with '95 which i used regularly but it didnt seem to be included with following versions, although i could be wrong
  3. i use something called Simply Safe Backup. however when i run a backup i always do the whole lot, as last year i only did incremental backups and found out after a particularly nasty HDD failure that the stupid thing had only backed up the new files and not kept the original archive so i only managed to recover about 10% of my lost stuff :xxx:
  4. lol thanks for that mate :) Diane can have that one (let's hope its not the prop centre bearing then  )
  5. man-unwell. its been like this for well over a year - but only makes the noise when its really cold - it does it about 10 mornings per year (generally around winter) so fingers crossed its nothing too major. i though about prop bearing but there's no associated judder so i ruled that one out
  6. appears between 30-40mph - only lasts about 30 seconds then its gone till the next cold morning.
  7. its from the middle, id say somewhere between gearbox and rear seats. deffo something to do with drivetrain/diff. not checked diff oil levels yet will get round to that soon.
  8. no its not next door's cat! only happens on occasion, and when the weathers especially cold. after about a minute of driving, i get a constant whirring/whining noise from under the car, difficult to pinpoint from where exactly, at first it sounds like the rear wheels, but im sure its a little closer in. only happens when in gear and under accelleration. after about 30 seconds, the noise will go away. there isnt anything else noticable, like juddering etc., just the noise. any suggestions?
  9. sorry to see that mate :( Im sure youll get yourself sorted soon bud
  10. chip and jets are the biggest bang for the buck you can get. a decent aftermarket chip can be obtained for £50 if you shop around. however the chip in your ECU will need de-soldering and a socket soldering in its place. this is where most of the expense will come from when chipping for the first time (unless you can do it yourself or know someone with a steady hand  ) the jets are mig welding tips and are practically free the size of jet governs the max boost, although as has already been said, they tend to cause boost spikes - the is only 'dangerous' if you go with 0.8mm or below as boost levels could reach 16psi which is a step over the mark. 1mm or 1.2mm will generate 14-ish psi and 12-ish psi respectively with no danger of spiking over your car's limits. for £300 you should be able to get chip, jets and a decent intake, and possibly a zorst too if you stretch your budget a little, or a better route would be a proper electronic boost controller, chip and intake.
