Hi
I've been browsing this forum for a while but never really active... I guess it is time (actually I should have done this a while ago) to present myself and my ride... About March 2008 I bought what I never expected to be possible, at least at this point in time... A 300zx TT. It is a 1993 manual blue 2+2... Here a couple of pictures on the day I brought it home: It was completely stock which is always a good sign and with 50k on the odometer... It had some issues though... Normal things I would say for a car with 15 years... I'll try to break it up in sections: - Brakes - they were terrible. Really... Lack of bite, lack of feeling, lack of power... Eventually breaking not too hard at 70mph would cause the steering to vibrate badly. First thing was a flush of brake oil dot 5.1... It improved but nothing special... Then master cylinder rebuild (it was leaking) and master cylinder brace... Again it improved... Still the steering shake was there... Then changed rotors for slotted EBC ones... 500 miles later and the vibration was again there... Overall it is much better but not quite there yet... :( - Suspension - lots of body movement over depressions... No confidence at all... It turned out to be a broken shock on the rear right corner... The electric valve that controls the shock stiffening was also broken. Both rear shocks were rebuild, valve replaced and now it feels a lot better. Still going on a straight line over a depression I can feel the car moving under me... Bushing is completely worn out I believe. - Engine - what a engine... The quickest car I had as a daily driver was a Alfa Romeo 147 1.6... It was a great car but 120bhp... Meanwhile I drove some crazy shit like a TVR Cerbera 4.5 and a Ferrari 348TS... But never over long periods of time... This to me felt like a train at first... Then you get used to it and want more of course. Still, there was some problems. When trying to maintain speed, engine would cut out but not stall... After replacing the FPR and the FPD, plugs and PTU, without much effect, it was the TPS... Another issue is when cold, this tapeting noise... At first thought about lifters but aparently it is the VTC... Also it smelled fuel when cold so I ordered the Smithies fuel line kit... Didn't improve and over time, it could be even really dangerous: detected two fuel leaks on the new lines (because the finishers came loose). - Transmission - noise commig from underneath the doors when in neutral and the foot is off the clutch. Clutch bearing it seams... That will hold until a new clutch is needed. Meanwhile, more vibrations so or the shaft is out of balance of the center bearing is giving its soul to its creator... So living with it for a year and a half... Meanwhile, upgraded the air filter to a apexi cone and installed a Z1 short shifter (after trying a ebay one which was rubish)... Upgraded front speakers for Infinity components+twitter... Enjoying it but still, the vibrations, brakes and lack of precision were killing the joy. Also, I wasn't sure when the timing belt was replaced and how many miles ago... So, I ordered a couple of things: - 120k timing kit (CPZ) - not absolutely confident on the car mileage, so I went for the most complete kit - JWC VTC harder springs (CPZ) - trying to eliminate the annoying VTC noise - Unorthodox driving pulley and overdrive water pump pulley (CPZ) - with all the money spent, couldn't resist chasing after a couple more ponies - Energy Suspension master kit (CPZ) - lets see if the braking vibration goes away (and if the car overall feeling gets more precise) - Aluminum drive shaft (Shaftmasters) + OEM transmission seal (CPZ) - Cooling fan clutch (CPZ) - current one is about ceased making the fan going loud even with the car cold. - CRANKSHAFT seal (CPZ) - believe this is not part of the 120k kit and since we will be near by... - OEM motor mounts + NISMO transmission mount (CPZ) - current ones are just old... It is at the shop right now assembling those parts... Lets see the outcome... So that is it... Spent about £4k in it so far... Hope to have it sorted now... Before starting to think about upgrades... :) Thanks for your time and patience with this long post...

TwinZ (peru) Rear bumper with diffuser
Problem I think is that in the US 99% of the difusers they would sell would be for 2+0 version while in Europe, most would be the oposite... Anyway, I don't hear from this guys in a long time...

Feels like Fuel Cut.....
Ohhh... And it never happens when going 50% => full throttle. Please don't take this as a thread hijack... I just believe we share the same problem... Or at least very similar. Unfortunatly, I spend (like any high power car I guess) most time feathering the throttle, so this can be anoying as hell! Noticed another thing... With the cruise control on, it happens the same thing. But it get's so jerky that the cruise control sets itself off... Don't know if this piece of information helps anyone in the diagnose... Hope so. :) By the way, how can I edit a post?! :S Cheers, Vítor

Feels like Fuel Cut.....
Hi, mine also cuts but it happens regardless of the gear or revs. If I feader the throttle, it sometimes cuts... The engine stops accelerating (exactly the same as if I lifted the throttle)... But if I press the clutch, it doesn't stall. Also no warning lights on the display. If I keep my foot down, it only makes things worse. It will then take much longer to start responding again. What I do to recover is back off the accelerator, wait some moments (1-3 seconds) and try again. Usually it recovers. It does this cold/hot regardless. So far I replaced the fuel pressure regulator and dampener. Replaced the PTU (old style=>new style). Replaced the air filter. Cleaned the throttle bodies. Fixed two vacuum leaks. No change... Once I found out what it is, I'll let you know. :) Please do the same. Regards, Vítor

Hi
Hi everyone, My name is Vítor and I'm from Portugal. Been a pistonhead since I can remember and the 300zx was in my dream car list since I was 16 or so (32 now). So an opportunity came by and I bought a 93 TT 2+2 LHD in the beginning of the year. She was looking pretty good so I jumped for it: And after she got home, shot a couple more pics next to a friend's toy: [/img] [/img] Anyway, she has a few dents... When I got her she was vibrating so much I couldn't go over 80mph or I couldn't breed. That was almost fixed by recalibrating the wheels but the tires themselves were also not as round as they should be (she was sitting in a garage for some time). With time that became better. Brakes were very poor... Replaced pads and brake fluid... Got better... But started losing brake fluid in the master cylinder. Rebuild kit needed... Suspension wise, she had a leaking rear right shock and a shoot wheel bearing... Engine was running strong at the time but then developed a hesitation when driving around 2000RPM... The hesitation with time developed into a complete cut (engine would not die if I pressed the clutch but would not respond as well)... Had to wait a couple of seconds and she would start responding again as nothing ever happened. Interior wise, she is pretty nice and well taken care of... Electrical antenna was not working but that is already fixed. AC and warmed seats work (although the driver’s side heats up quicker than the passenger’s) and it is a very pleasant place to be in... No water leaks. So now I'm missing her dearly because she is in the garage being looked at for almost a month... Not that much being done to her but waiting for parts and so on... Takes for ever. Anyway, the current work list is: - recover the rear suspension - besides the leaking shock, the electrical valve (could someone explain me what's that for?!) was dead. Both rear shocks being repaired and refilled. - replace wheel bearing - brakes master cylinder repaired with the Nissan repair kit - fuel pressure regulator and dampener being replaced with new items - PTU being replaced by new style one - new air filter (apexi cone) And that's it... Hoping she gets to me almost as good as new and with all major troubles sorted. Regarding plans for the future... Well, as most of you, there is this dream upgrade path that involves tons of money that I don't have but hopefully will. I never liked straight lines and although eye stretching acceleration is good fun, top speed is meaningless to me. I'm more focused in a track car so: - top notch suspension parts (well, road usable) - top notch brakes - more engine but keeping lag to the minimum (would be happy with about 450~500bhp)... - other than that, recover the car to a as good state as possible. New rubbers, paint job, etc... Regarding the looks... I just want new rims (18'' because of the big brake kit) and those probably will be the Volk CE28N bronze... And it will be a little bit lowered with the new coilovers... And that's it... Maybe replacing side indicators and rear lights with white ones (JDM style I guess)... Hope you guys liked this introduction of my almost first year with the 300... Much more could be said but these are the highlights. Best regards, Vítor

Eibach springs
Hi all, I've found by reading through the forum that many many of you upgraded your springs to Eibach springs. I was thinking about doing the same but the feedback from the local distributer was that those were discontinued for my 93 TT. I found that odd since there are plenty of sites selling those in the US. So I contacted Eibach directly but they let me know exactly the same thing. Basically they told me that the european version was discontinued and they still produce the springs for the american version and they don't garantee those will fit my car. What you guys that have been on this path say? Thanks so much for your help. Best regards, Vítor
