Well I report back with tales of joy and shame. At the weekend after waiting for the arrival of a K&N recharger kit (the car has a blitz kit on it) I proceeded to remove said filter and discovered what a sh!tty mess it was in. After several cleans and a dry and re-oil it went back on the car. I then tried to remove my old exhaust system and fit the Japspeed I've had waiting to go on. I originally wanted to decat it but after reading the stories on here of bust tub seals I decided I'd rather get some sat on the shelf before I take that step. I've had the back boxes off in the past and so they weren't too much of an issue but the bolts to the cats were solid (useless without oxy). In the end I gave up. Went to work this morning and the results were clear. Once warmed up I gave it some right foot and the rev's went up to just below the limiter and then it changed gear, nice and smooth. Guess it was being starved of air. Dropped in into the exhaust centre and left it with them to fit the exhausts. Picked it up earlier, much quieter and the car feels much smoother. If anyone else is having this problem, might be worth a check. So now I just need to keep on top of the maintenance. :blushing:

Yeah I saw most of it. God knows who gives some of these people a ticket.

Fuel saver
Maybe it has a G meter in it and electrocutes you whenever you press the throttle more than a mm. Oo I like the idea, how do I get a patent setup :)

Ok spent a bit of time on her today. New oil & filter and dumped the coolant. Looking at the state of both, I think another in 1000miles or so would be beneficial. Checked the TPS and Conzult free is reading 0.44. Scan Tech Nissan is suggesting is flickering between 0.44 and 0.46. I can't find the WOT 4v anywhere, am I being thick here? I'll need a gasket for the autobox before I dump the fluid on that so it'll have wait for a week or so. Cheers

how many people have had speeding tickets?
I've been pretty lucky in 15 years on the road despite having a Z TT and a KTM 950 bike (100bhp) and our lasses MR2 to play in/on. Unfortunately I got a NIP through the post a few months ago, cr@p what speed had I been doing?? Yup 50mph in a 44ton Artic on the A1 when I should have been doing 40mph. WTF! Oh well, learnt something. Those stupid Gatso's aren't that stupid. Some can be setup to look for long vehicles. :sneaky2:

Been to the nissan dealer today and had a look at the parts data. Dealer can find no mention of a filter in the Auto box, took the chassis number and model number, still no luck. Anybody have a part number? I've been through the service manual tonight and can't find any service interval relating to changing this filter. On the strip down info there is a gauze filter in there somewhere, is it just a flush and clean job rather than replacement? Other thing I should have mentioned is its an import. I've read on another thread that the speed convertor or throttle position sensor could be causing the slight issue, Possible? Anyway, some ramps bought. New filters and fluids bought, shame about the weather, gonna be a wet day tomorrow. :mad2:

Anyone know where I can get an autobox filter then? The usual suspects don't seem to have one, nor does ebay.

Erm yep, that would be never then. Didn't think I'd done many miles in it, but looking at my mileage logs 10k. Fluid smells ok tho. Since its come out of hibernation again, I was planning on dropping all the fluids once it had collected all the crap from being stood. Better get some ramps.

Hi all, I was hoping someone may be able to guide me on this one. Recently I've got my Zed back on the road and frankly loving it again. Well apart from the bl**dy autobox. I had always planned to convert it and have a manual donor car sat waiting, but for now the auto has got to stay. If I could get it working properly it would be great. Basically in normal operation everything is fine, the gear changes are smooth. Overdrive button works, power and hold switches seem to do things!?! Dunno whether they're correct things or not? Anyway whenever you bury your foot into the carpet the revs rise to about 6500 rpm and then seem to bounce like its on the limiter (where's the limit?) this happens for probably around 3 seconds and then the autobox seems to get the message and slots another cog in for me. If you just accelerate quickly, no power light coming on, then it seems to work fine and actually accelerate better. I have the lead and software to get some figures from it and when I last checked (a week ago) there were no logged errors for engine or autobox. I've read on here about the TPS voltage, what should it be reading? Thanks in advance.

couple of auto related q's
Mines similar when in Park or Neutral when the heater control is set on normal, if I turn mine to "ECO" or off the revs drop to normal. Thought it was normal operation, engine trying to compensate for the Aircon compressor.

how many of you access the forum with a mobile phone type thingy?
Use both Macbook and Iphone, I use tapatalk on other forums and think its pretty good, especially when the signal strength is low and web browsing is slow.

insurance aaarrrggghhh!!!
Think the Zed is costing about £450 on admiral multi-car. JDM, Mods declared, 10k a year and business mileage. Rough guesstimate as I've only just got it back on the road and the policy has a couple of months left.

Garages in Stockton area for timing belt replacement
Sorry I don't, only been up here 8 month and the Z was dragged out of my old workshop a month ago, still trying to find things myself. When I got the belt done last I took it down to zedworld.

Nice to know there's a few other Z owners up here.

Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Seals
Anyone know how to a) Separate the master from the reservoir? b) Source the seals between the two? The workshop manual suggests the seals should be replaced every time the two are split. Doesn't tell you how though :( Hopefully the MOT man tomorrow won't notice the slight weep ;) Busy trying to make my Z the daily driver after its been in storage for 2 years. So hopefully lots going on over the next 6 months or so. Cheers
