  1. Would you mind emailing me that number too. Lee.read(at)elitemicro.co.uk I've been out of touch for a bit, I hope retirement is suiting you?
  2. Could be the diode pack on the alternator, when they go wonky it allows current back the wrong way and will drain the battery.
  3. Cheers, what clutch has people had good experience of, any particular make/type. The engine is standard (well almost).
  4. New Clutch shaft spigot bearing ( go's in the end of crank ) Is that the one that needs chiseling off as in the how to doc? Thanks
  5. Ok, the garage has been in touch and the estimate seems reasonable. I've told them I'll supply all required parts (so I can choose what goes in). Question is what shall I change, the list I have so far is: 1) Crank Shaft Seal (weeping a little) 2) Clutch 3) Propshaft centre bearing What else would be a good idea to change whilst it's guts are laid all over the garage?
  6. Thanks for the input, I'll wait and see what they come back with.
  7. That's about what I thought. I thought you guys taking it on yourself on the drive with no ramp or tranny jack were doing it in a weekend. So it should be much easier for them.
  8. Hi, Last week I went to see the same garage that I'm hoping will be carrying out a full respray on the Z before too long about completing the swap from auto to manual. They haven't done one of these before (surprise) but as I'm hoping to hand over some of the more time consuming jobs to them, I think it's a good idea they get familiar with it. So I've emailed the how to document to them, I have a donor vehicle. How long will it take the average garage to complete the task? (Just trying to give them as much info as I can). Cheers
  9. Some of must change cars like socks, heres my disappointing list 1976 - Super Avenger 1600 1990 - Nova Saloon 1300 1985 - Mini Ritz 1000 (in a shed) 1989 - Astra 1300 1984 - Mini 1000 1994 - Mondeo 1600 1996 - Saxo 1100 1991 - Land Rover Discovery (in a shed) 2004 - Fiat Punto 1200 2000 - Jeep Cherokee 4000 LPG (soon for sale) 1993 - Audi 80 2000 1996 - MR2 (soon for sale) 1990 - 300zx TT (on the road) 1990 - 300zx TT (spares) Bikes 2002 - NSR 125 1983 - CBX 750F (soon for sale) 2000 - Honda Transalp 650 2001 - Suzuki Bandit 600 (nicked and burnt out) 2004 - KTM 950 Adventure (my pride and joy) 2004 - Gas Gas EC200 Think that's it.??
  10. Strange, I can only go by the MPG (no noticeable difference in power) and found the Tesco stuff crap. It seems to like BP Ultimate best.
  11. Thanks but I was hoping for a new one, don't want to do this job again in any hurry. I have a matrix and would have bought the complete Nissan setup including the valve but they're no longer available. I have a another valve on my spares car but condition unknown.
  12. Well that's screwed the job up. Certainly the valve is leaking  Does anyone know whether the valve can be pulled to pieces? Is there just an o ring in the bottom that could be replaced. Gonna try and get it off after lunch.
  13. At the moment I'm busy trying to sort my leaking heater matrix out (hoping its not the valve) and whilst I'm at it sort the issue with the vents, it would only blow to windscreen not footwell. Does anyone know when this motor is supposed to operate? I have it out and in bits, sometimes it does something but not very much. I've plugged the climate controller back in and swapped between auto and windscreen and still nothing happens. The motor does work though, just not doing what I'd expect. Cheers
  14. Mine does it too or so mrs says.
  15. Interesting, send some details to lee.read at Elitemicro.co.uk I dropped a post on to say I was interested but didn't think a date had been agreed and it will depend on that as I'm away a fair bit over the next 6 weeks.
  16. Virtual at the moment, a test rig for a solution I'm putting in. Found the issue, even though the service I'm trying to cluster shouldn't actually need storage, the quorum was incorrectly configured. Typical now I've found another potential single point of failure :(
  17. I run my own business and was coming back from a meeting in Wakefield, there is no usual clock-off time here  Infact I'm currently trying to work out why a cluster service is failing when I pull a node from it, if anyone knows the answer?!?
  18. It was me! I someone flash but as I heard nothing fall off I cracked on. Car kit would be nice, wasn't actually using the phone though, the volume level on my Bluetooth thing isn't that good, so I cup my hand round it to try and stop some of the noise. Kind of defeats the object though I guess. Still perfectly legal tho. :)
  19. Who in their right mind gets their £100 welder out on a £50k car?!? Especially when they can't weld for sh1t. I wouldnt do a repair like that on my 20 year old landy.
  20. I'm up for it, depending on date, pretty busy with work at the mo.
  21. You could try seathwaite, from the farm walk up the valley towards the mountains (track) and cross over the river and up the side of Taylor gill force. Once on top there's a tarn but also other paths onto the mountains (great gable & scafell pike (not good for dog from that dir)) or down into the next valley (wasdale). There's a nice pub serving real ale there and the path I've mentioned shouldn't be too hard for mutley if memory serves.
  22. I've not tried V-power recently. Luckily I have a few non-services BP garages on my route so not too bad. I've tried the Tesco momentum now and again and can't say I've noticed it any better than regular unleaded. Went on the bike today, forgotten how noisy was in relation to being in the car. Still no £6 parking fee.
  23. Out of the 140miles, 20 are on reasonable A road the rest on the motorway.
  24. I've had a Jeep Cherokee (old shape 2001) for the last 7 years and frankly its probably been the most reliable car I've ever had. Its a straight 6 4.0L so even on LPG its not exactly ecomomical but its made up for it in repair costs (or lack of them). Worst problem I've had is the fuel pump went and it was £300 for another one. Other than that I've driven it 100,000 miles and its had a battery, 2 tyres, radiator, alternator, some brake pads and a couple of UJ's for the drive shafts. Great in snow and tows car and trailer well.
