  1. Mmm.... yes come across this ourselves with some MOT testers failing them, which is annoying because its nothing new and in fact a few new cars, Fiats in particular have this fitted as standard, like orange running lights on some zeds get failed yet Range Rovers / Land Rovers have them as standard!!! this is why finding a "switched on" tester is the way to go. Jeff TT
  2. After market kit would be the easiest way such as the link below, can be made to appear very similar to stock too. http://www.ultimatedesign.co.uk Jeff TT
  3. (The voltage should read between 0.4 and 0.5V with the throttle closed) With igntion on ( no need to run the engine) and with the ConZult connected, loosen the two screws on the top and bottom of the TPS, rotate it until the sensor voltage is within 0.4-0.5V. and then tighten up. After you adjust the TPS, you will have to reset the idle position memory, disconnect the flying lead to the tps and watch the tps value on the ConZult it will go all the way to max. Once max is reached plug the lead back in and your done. Jeff
  4. Lets deal with the air leak in a moment, first the ConZult screen shot You have a couple of issues to deal with first, the tps is way too low at 0.28 and should be around 0.46 and an active ( open ) EGR valve at normal running temp. The low tps reading can effect egr operation, the low tps will also cause bad auto box shift changes and in manuals cause poor idle / recovery when changing gear at low speeds. Back to the hissing noise, if you are referring to the noise been behind the balancer bar and to the right as you look at the engine from the front, then its most likely your hearing the air going through the idle control valve, also the vacuum pipe to the egr valve runs close by. If you deal with the tps first then its likely the egr valve will respond, if not disconnect and block off the vacuum pipe to it ( from the solenoid on the bulkhead by the brake booster. Once done redo the ConZult screen shots and post up again, oh and before anyone notices the timing at 7deg that's completely normal with your engine/ cas unit / ecu model they wander all over the place!! Just a quick thought, we did a ConZult check on your car at JAE the tps would have been checked then??? you had any work done in that area? Jeff TT
  5. Common problem that oddly does not effect every zed, if it does however a few careful dressing blows with a hammer on the pipe will sort it, offer it up and mark the pipe where it touches, remove again and dress the pipe according, do it in small adjustments, refitting and checking each time, nicer to keep the adjustments to a minimum. Fitting these pipes is easier on zeds with manual gearboxes as they are slimmer than the auto gearbox, similar careful adjustments can be made to the pipe here too. As a side note we have concluded that this problem effects some zeds and not others is due to the engine mountings, either worn/broken or if the engine has been out and when refitted the mounting has not located correctly ( see this often ) Jeff TT
  6. Don`t panic matey, the cat light comes on when unburnt fuel gets into the cat and lights up in there, it can also comes on if there is a cable fault on the sensors, often these are cut and connectors fitted when the exhaust is removed for any reason. However if you feel the engine is different its more likely that its excessive unburnt fuel. This can be caused by a misfire or and the most likely in your case a bad connection on the temp sensor which will lead to an overfuel situation, the reason the light goes off when lifting off the trottle is that the injectors switch off on overrun so hence no fue. Assuming you do not have a misfire from a bad ptu or coil connection then check the temp sensor connection its the one on the water inlet pipes at the front, the larger two cable one. Jeff TT
  7. Easy 5 mins job,2x 14mm bolts at the front, 2 x 14 nuts at the rear, disconnect the electical connection if and then remove your targa tip the back upraight forward and lift out. Jeff TT
  8. Sill fit needed a little help?? Jeff TT
  9. Here a few tasters, the paint choice is gorgeous, in the sun it really come alive, in the shade it looks really rich, only area build up paint has been done so far like the engine bay headlight area etc. going to look great when the body is done, as often the case the kits don't fit exactly and you can see on the drivers side how the kit needed to be cut and an extra fillet fabricated, similar on the sill section on the same side, this is of course is to make it all symmetrical the extra time and attention now will pay dividends later. The rear wide arches section been carefully fittted without the need to cut open the inner and outer skin of the original arch by malipulating the metal, fillet section have been fabricated to complete the gap free fit over the complete inner arch. 20. COMPAQ Running XP PRO Hi guys, whilst doing some cambelt photo`s on my lap top at work today the battery suddenly let go, has done this before and usually just plug in the ac cord re-boot and away we go. But not today, now caught in some kind of loop where a message comes up saying "sorry but windows did not start correctly how do you want to proceed" The opions are three kinds of safe mode and start with known last good set up or reboot, have tried everyone know and keep coming back to the same screen, the Windows XP spalsh screen comes on and then a very, very quick flash of blue screen of death that you cannot read because its too quick and then back to the options screen, again and again, etc. Why would the battery fail do this! have removed the cmos and main battery left for a while and put back and booted but always the same. Done a disc check and it did a successful quick test but a failed to read on the intensive test after 20 minutes Help Jeff
  21. You are correct the valve solenoid should have a click you can hear, best to get a meter on the solenoid and see if the winding have gone open ciruit or not. Yours is a non turbo I think?? if so we have seen this propblem on the N/A in particular where all parts check out ok but the problem pesists, 99% of the time its is the steering ecu, this is only on the non turbo model and replacing it is the only cure.
