  1. Cheers Fellas.
  2. Take the advise from Janus. Get down the Doctors. I had about 10 I'd left over the years. The Doc hot wired them off in about the time it takes to read this thread and no more painful that hot candle wax.
  3. The fact he's took the time trouble and money to do it is a good thing I think. I've been a bit depressed recently to see the rising tide of Zs that are heading for scrap either legitimately because it's not been cared for or because there is a few quid to be made on parts sold separately. So as said earlier each to their own.
  4. Hi Love the wheels on your motor, what they, price size and do you where I could get some. Cheers alot. Andy
  5. I'm not a regular contributor but need to say what an excellent job I had done recently at Zedword and I'm probably repeating what a lot of you know anyway. I had a good local (old boy) garage that sold up and had to start using one in town with the best reputation. 2 years and some considerable cost later I took all the car's little niggles that no one seemed able to fix to Zewword. They changed all the brakes back and front, fixed a petrol leak that has been slowly poisoning me for the last year, fixed a stalling problem that has been driving barmy for at least 18 month and tuned and serviced the car within budget and spotted a couple of other disasters performed by the previous garage. It may be a round trip of 400 miles for me but worth every mile and penny spent. Thanks to every on at Zedworld.
  6. Hi I was hoping Murt or Pintovit would come back with a solution to the problem which seems to be the same as the one I have. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=120527 Basically the the throttle fails to respond and the car judders like you're in too low a gear but doesn't stall when you put the clutch in. If at low speeds you have to pull over aas the car slows so much. It happens at any gear and any speed or revs. I've had it happen at 30mph and on the motorway at 70mph (well that's the limit isn't it!).But it only happens once in any one journey, either 2 miles home from the shops or 150 miles back from Swindon just before Christmas . Once it has cleared everythings fine. Suggestions really welcome, Thanks Andy.
  7. Depends how they sit with the rest of the car I think. See the link, if it works? http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=44026&d=1221943996
  8. Hi I'll be looking for some new wheels in the New Year and really fancy these. Seen a lot of talking of 18" and 19" fitting with no problem but what about these 20" monsters. Love that deep dish look on the rears. Would they fit my standard UK TT un-lowered or higher model? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140283150535&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:Watchlink:middle:uk
  9. Just had my turbos back from Turbo Dynamics. After examining them they turned them around in 4 days. £390 each plus VAT but this was for the 360 bearings. They look fantastic, as good as new. Maybe to clear a point in this thread, they can't get the housing anymore but all the internals are readily available. Cheers
  10. Thanks for this chaps some useful info. The Z1 GT525. looks really interesting, it's a shame the exchage rate is so shite now otherwise they would be a real alternative to reconditioning. I presume they are not available to buy in the UK? Andy
  11. Hi Got my engine out and the garage tell me these could do with a refurb. Anyone got any ideas of a good engineering company that they have used to carry out the work and an idea on price per turbo? Thanks Andy.
  12. Thanks both for the advice really helpful. Seems the garage are being fairly upfront. They said while it's out it'd be a good idea to check gaskets, clutch etc which sounds sensible but as I'm new to this garage and they stung me for a whopper bill for my last service/mot (welding, 4 new dampers, suspension arm, to name a few) I'm a bit concerned they may be making work for themselves. Just one other thing dropping the engine, how long do you recon that should take to get in a postion to check turbos, manifold etc. And once what ever needs doing has been done how long to put back in. Cheers Andy
  13. Hi I'd love some advice being very green when it comes to any working knowledge of the large lump under the bonnet. For sometime(couple of years) I've had a problem with bolts loosening up on the manifolds but I'm told by my previous garage these were too inaccessible to tighten right up but equally due to the inaccessibility they would not work completely out. Well now the exhaust is realy blowing and really affecting acceleration at quite low speeds (60-80). My new garage say bolts appear to be loose on the turbos too now and because these and the manfolds bolts are impossible to get ut they need to drop the engine to have a good look. Does that sound reasonable course of action to you ?
