  1. oh and the profec b is a great boost controller and not an entry level controller as it does everything you want it to and you will find alot of the big power cars all run them as they do exactly what they say on the tin ie control the boost very well and doesnt have some bells and whistles on like some other controllers
  2. also remember you just cant up the boost!! you need a chip to up the fuel etc before you can up the boost, think ztech do the jwt ones or john dixon does them :)
  3. Well after a whole day of trying to get the gearbox lined up and giving up pi55ed of and cold went out this morning and went on straight away :smw: So just broke for lunch and putting back in later :hyper:
  4. the way things are going with my gearbox and trying to get it lined up with the spline my AEM might be here soon sat on the side lol
  5. Just an update From spending half the day trying to get the gearbox on....stupid thing wont line up ~@$%$@%~$@ anyway i spoke to several tuners regarding this conversion and have come to the conclusion that although i really like the power fc and on the face of it its a great bit of kit ie plug it in and has a commander to monitor the engine etc but it is very limited to what sensors and how quickly it can process information it can do and in the words of a mapper who maps for the subaru rally team its crap compared to gems, motec, AEM etc so after mulling options over including keeping my HKS ECU ive ordered an AEM EMS ecu and i can get this mapped very well priced as well locally :) So its going to cost me about £500 more than originally thought but i will have a much better ECU and another thing the guy said is he mapped a reasonably tuned scooby on a power fc and then tried a gems on it and it made 40 bhp more and ran alot better!!! so that changed my mind Cheers for all your help anyway guys Mike
  6. The skyline ECU doesnt have any controls for the VTC so can you disconnect them and what will happen if i do?? are they just monitoring or controlling?
  7. Yeh russ has the AEM, tbh i was going to get it but again your talking around £1300 for the ecu and prob another £4-500 to get it mapped so your getting upto near £2k for it which is not bad for what it can do but with all the money i have put into it i had budgeted on the Apexi one. Just had a quote to remap my HKS - £600+vat!!
  8. your looking at about £900-1000 all in supply and mapped
  9. Yeh running a manual box bud
  10. Well it started out as an easy mod ie all the pins are the same just need to wire up an extra MAF or so i thought 80% of the pins are identical but that also means 20% are different and i really dont want to start rewiring half the loom!! The main reason i wanted to go down this route is its a fantastic ECU which is fully standalone but more important i can get it mapped fairly local by the king of mapping power fc's Plus its fairly inexpensive to buy/map and comes with the commander which monitors the ecu with a display which is also very handy Its looking like i may have to keep my HKS F-Con V Pro Gold Steve, pop down when ever you want bud, i will be there at my dads most of today :) Mike
  11. Hi John I know its been done before ie put an power fc in a 300zx but ive been looking at what every pin is on the skyline and 300zx and tbh its looking more and more like its not going to be worth doing it, plus there is alot on the 300zx which is not on the skyline so i'm starting to think its not worth doing it. Ive attached the pin spreadsheet ive done so if anyone can fill in some of the red blanks on the 300zx it would be appreciated as i cant make them out on the on line work book MIKE
  12. Right i have a series of queries about making my new ECU work!! Its an Apexi Power FC from a skyline and i know its been done before so it can work but i have a few queries. The ECU's are basically the same apart from a few little differences but the connector and pin set up are identical But The injectors pin set up on the 300zx goes like this - Pin 101 - Inj 1 Pin 103 - Inj 3 Pin 105 - Inj 5 Pin 110 - Inj 2 Pin 112 - Inj 4 Pin 114 - Inj 6 Now the skyline injectors pin set up uses the same pins but the injectors are different due to it being a straight 6 Pin 101 - Inj 1 Pin 103 - Inj 3 Pin 105 - Inj 2 Pin 110 - Inj 5 Pin 112 - Inj 6 Pin 114 - Inj 4 So my main worry is they fire differently or do they?? I could swap over the wiring to match up with the skyline one but then it would fire wrong on the zed? My thoughts are to leave the wiring as it is and the skyline ecu will think its firing 1,3,2,5,6,4 but the signal will be going to 1,3,5,2,4,6?? There are a few other bits i will need to do but this is the main thing which worries me as i will have to rewire it outside my tuners before he can map it!! Come on you technical people help me out here :) Mike
  13. unlikely as it will still be running a map on 555cc injectors and will have 850cc's so i dont know how well it will run :( fingers crossed should be all done in 2-3 weeks ;)
  14. Well today has been pretty constructive. Some of the studs on the downpipes had stripped off when removing them so replaced all them. The border rail takes the fuel lines right to the back of the plenum and takes them right next to the hard water pipes so i had to have some 90 degree fitments made up but its all on now :) Fitted my 99 spec lights, centre panel is on its way but still looks niles better. Removed the carbon canister etc!! you should see how much crap ive removed from the car ;) More importantly we test fitted the engine back in to test the custom stainless pipework we have put in and the RHS is perfect, the LHS needs a little work so ive had some more stainless bent to the right amount and just needs cutting to make it all fit :) So tomorrow, weather depending we should be putting the clutch and box back on and fitting it back into the car so the car should be running by the weekend :) Thanks god :p
  15. was nice and sunny here first thing but turning very grey and dark outside :smash: was hoping to test fit the engine today!? :(
  16. yeh you can unlock most phones but the new (gen 5 phone i think) from nokia are different and dont be fooled by ebay. best bet if to go onto the phone forums bud and search for unlock and your phone model to see if its been unlocked by anyone but if its the same as all the other models like 6630 6680 etc etc ie all the newer ones then you might struggle Mike
  17. you cant unlock the new nokias as far i am believe matey theres only O2 which supply the phones not locked
  18. no probs alex will sort them tomorrow ;)
  19. it is cracked  but i have my old one which is perfect to go on ;)

just keep hitting it with the mallet and it will shock off eventually, alloys tend to weld themselves very well onto the bud lol
  21. 99 spec all the way ;)
  22. Well nearly there!! just need to wire the maf up which is easier while the engine is out and were ready to fit the engine back in  Just need a few dry days.....please a few dry days :p Border Rail!! looks lovely and with the plenum on you cant see it  hidden bling Mike
  23. pick a time when my car is off the road ;)
  24. i might have my old ones still alex, will have a look later ;)
  25. all depends on how they perform, i am planning on doing some testing and getting mac to come along as well as a friend of mine with a high power skyline and i think depending on what sort of times mine gets will depend on if i take it any further! I would like to do it but i think the car needs to be well in the 11's and over 180 mph in the 1.2 miles so we shall see :) Mike
